I don't have them neck and neck, have Eifert as the better football player, more complete, stronger, better hands, more control of the body, better body, better blocker, more strength and ability to shield, more athletic overall, superior red zone target, more explosive vertical, I would say Eifert doesn't get out of the first, Ertz goes in the 2nd.

As far as the Buffalo issues go. Part of the issue could be that they stress that both their DT's penetrate rather then occupy blockers....and Kelvin Sheppard isn't really solid against the run. Could be schematic issues to...we will find out with a new coaching staff in town.

Wow, that's an over the top reaction. Perhaps you are the one who needs a pill?

Yes, he ran a 4.68 at Oregon's 2nd pro day. Why didn't he run at the combine or their 1st pro day? He had a groin injury. So since he was not able to run on 3/12/09 due to his groin strain, but did run on 3/19/09, it's quite possible he was not yet at his best, even though he went ahead and ran anyway. Considering the circumstances, I'm a little skeptical of the 4.68 being an accurate representation of his speed in general.

It seems a little surprising to me to suggest one of the best ball hawking safeties would be best suited for a nickel back role. Everyone is entitled to their opinion though. Even IF he were no better than average at run defense, I'd still want him if we could get him for one of our starting safeties because he creates turnovers.

It's all a moot point though, because I believe he isn't leaving the Bills.

You essentially accused me of lying about his 40 time in order to make him sound worse than he is. So yeah, I stick by my response. I don't know why you chose to do something other than maturely acknowledging a difference of opinion. That's your demon to wrestle with.

It's all speculation, but he ran about what I thought he'd run based on what I saw of him in college. I thought there was no way he could be a corner in the NFL and that he'd have to move to safety. Lucky for him the Bills agreed.

As a nickel safety he would be playing 600 to 700 snaps a year. That's plenty, IMO. Allows him to make a big impact on the passing game while covering up some of his weaknesses against the run.

lol On what planet do people think the Bills let Byrd walk when the franchise tag for safeties is so affordable?

Yes, Buffalo is dumb but come on.

Yeah, it's not even a discussion for me. Even if he were available, Miami wouldn't be outbidding anyone for him. We simply don't have the glaring need (assuming we bring back Clemons)

I didn't accuse you of lying. You said he was a 4.7 guy, but without giving the circumstances that caused him to run the 4.68 at his pro day. So it wasn't as complete a picture as it could have been.
No worries about the demons either. I'll wrestle them while wearing my sweaty headband with my half loaded six shooter stuffed in my waist band. ;)

I think he is plenty fast enough. Maybe he is not the best run defense safety, but I certainly do not see him as a liability in that regard either. We can agree to disagree, but it won't matter when the Bills resign him.
