August 8th is just weeks away! What events and which athletes are you keeping an eye on? For me, it's going to be Walter Dix, who is from my hometown of Coral Springs, and the Men's Basketball team. Enough with the bronze medals - BRING HOME THE GOLD! NO EXCUSES! Let's do it in style and see someone do this again: http://youtube.com/watch?v=d3m0eKpNX24
I really get into the soccer, track & field, baseball/softball, and some swimming events. Love the Olympics. Looking forward to seeing Michael Phelps win some more gold medals as well.
I think Phelps has a good shot at 8 medals; I also want to see the USA basketball team do better than a bronze from last olympics; I love all the track and field events, especially the 100, 220 and 440; in women's sports it would be nice to see them win it in soccer and softball. Dana Torres the 40+ year old swimmer...hope she can win some medals. It will just be nice watching some decent sports on tv before the NFL starts back up.
I just hope I can see through the smog! Swimming most likely, not really a huge summer fan since they took out baseball (I think they did?). I will watch softball if they still have that.
We root for Gymnastic's teams, as I watch with my girls....do enjoy those events. Good chance for medals this year, team and individual.
All I know is FIBA will be biased against us from the start. They'd make Tim Donaghy look more impartial than a robot.
Joel Anthony of your Heat led Canada to a win over Germany last night Canada is in a tourney to try and qualify for the Olympics. BTW: Nash is not playing for us
i'll watch basketball for sure...soccer probably, swimming for phelps and the 40 year old i forgot her name, and track with one of the best American athletes right now: tyson gay
He is a real sleeper for us...he showed real signs of becoming a guy that you can lean on for defense.
I want to see Men's Basketball, 100, 220 and 440 Running, Women's soccer and softball, Phelps going for 8 medals in swimming.
You can thank John Thompson for that one. In fact, on his Hall of Fame plaque, it says "Screwed up 1988 Olympic team." It's right above the part that says "Had Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutombo at the same time and couldn't figure out how to use them together."
Good article on Michael Phelps and what he's trying to accomplish. http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3508530
