    I think he was just trying to justify showing off. Stokley did the right thing in stopping him because it prevented a costly penalty. Political demonstrations should have no place during a sporting event and especially sporting celebrations in my opinion. You can voice your opinion but just do it outside of the game.

    I respectfully disagree and in fact Jackie Robinson highlights what I'm trying to say. Politics should not be intermingled with sports. Robinson broke a barrier that essentially politics as well as social thinking placed on sports and daily life to begin with (racial segregation). Robinson broke a barrier but with the intent to play the game. Marshall wanted to make a tribute that at best had nothing to do with the game (would've made it worse in fact due to a nice pre-planned celebration penalty) and really says nothing that can't be said outside of the event.
