Thanks Rev this is great. I love Mercy Me, got any of their videos? They have some of the most wonderful lyrics. God Bless You!
There you go, Debby GB
You're the best, thanks. I like a lot of the comtemporary singers, but these guys are my all time favorites.
I talked to one of the DJ's on the Christian station out of Atlanta and he said the ministry that Mercy Me has is tremendous. I Can Only Imagine has been the most requested song ever. And has been played in all genres of stations. And the most played song ever. No matter how many times they sing, it's always fresh and meaning full. They really bless me.
Thanks for sharing. it's amazing how music can make us feel closer to Christ. That is a true blessing.
I always enjoyed this song, there is a nice harmony and sentiment within:
This is delightful! I would hope this could also be a place where folks can ask questions in a safe manner and others could lovingly try to answer. This is a great addition. Thank you. PK
This is wonderful thank you and God bless. My favorite is Amazing Grace by LeAnn Rimes.
Thanks for the pic Marty, it is beautiful. It's nice to see all of you come in and share. Thanks Rev, this was a great idea. I pm'd you Rev, got a question. Talk to all of you soon!
Have you seen the movie "Amazing Grace" about William Wilberforce and the ending of slavery in the British Empire? One of the chracters is John Newton the author of the poem which became the song. Newton's life is a fascinating story and, for me, makes the hymn come even more alive!
I was tempted to Rick Roll you guys... but then I thought better... still It would have been a pretty awesome prank.
I am reminded of how old and out of touch I am regarding contemporary Christian music, indeed contemporary music, period, that I have no idea what kind of a prank you are talking about!
It is just a link that looks like something however instead of the something it is Rick Ashley singing "Together Forever"
Myself included, c-l-u-e-l-e-s-s is my name when it comes to contemporary Christian music. I did like Metallica's "Creeping Death" when I was a wee lad, it's about the Exodus.
Prayer Request Hi, I'm asking you all to pray for me. My Stats II class is coming to a close and I an trying to finish up my project and am finding it difficult. One of the great mysteries that I will never understand is why God created Two Way ANOVA. Please pray for the project to be completed. Thanks GB
My son was a wee lad and every night I got on my knees with him in prayer before bed. His mother also did this at her home, we had discussed this and the continuity of it in both homes. He wouldn't pray aloud with us, but that was ok, we teach by example. Well, one night it was bedtime and I sent him to "get ready" for bed, I'll be right in for prayers. I changed the tv channel and Metallica Sandman was on.. I called him back into the room and pointed to the tv and said listen, these guys say their prayers out loud.. and it's our prayer too... That night we said prayers out loud together. The following day, I returned him back to his Mother for two weeks. A couple of nights later Kelley calls me up and says "Martin".. see, I know she means business when she calls me that instead of Marty, "what went on with you guys this weekend" .. epiphany...I KNEW where she was going. Smiling to myself, I responded Sandman, caught her cold.. Sandwho?.....you know the rest.. he continued his aloud prayers from then on with us until he was "I'm big enough" to say his bedside prayers alone.
What a wonderful recounting CNC (Marty, my name is Andrew BTW), when I was a teen, lifting weights to "Slaves Hebrews born to serve to the Pharoah, heed to his every word live in fear" was sung (some would say shouted..) the Exodus account of the first born male children in Egypt was made plain. Funny what can be used to Serve God isn't it?
Thanks to all for the prayers. I finished my Stats assignment and am done with the class. At least, I hope so. Prayer Request for today and tomorrow: My son's first birthday party is tomorrow, even though he does not turn 1 until May 3rd. I know, it's draft day. God was gracious enough to have our pick done ahead of time. Anyway, can you please pray for good weather and that everyone arrive and get home safe? Thanks my friends. Have a great and blessed day. GB
Happily done, though as I remind people when asked for weather prayers, "I'm in sales not management, no guarantees!"
You got it Rev. We have just merged churches and still have some things to work out, so please remember us and our Pastor. The merge is a good thing, it ultimately helped out 3 churches in our area, so God has big plans for us. He made the moves easy for all concerned. Thanks, GB Deb
I would be curious to hear how that combination came about? I am a Lutheran pastor and the history of Lutheranism in North America has been one of merger of national bodies over the past 40-50 years. Various ethnic and/or language groups, as they became more and more Americanized have combined to where our now Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is the product of no less than 14 former national bodies. That's the good news! The bad news is we have congregations literally across the street from each other because of different ethnic histories or a split over when to switch to English from_______ perhaps two or three (or more) generations ago. In my little village and the surrounding townships we have five ELCA congregations spread among less than seven thousand total folks! It is an organizational and missional nightmare. Three of the five are in "survival mode" with no thought of outreach or mission beyond paying their bills. Another, healthier place is looking to build a unit which duplicates one of ours when a combination of the ministry would be a blessing. If your story is too long or if I've taken this thread too far afiled, then perhaps when you get a moment you could send me a PM? Thanks in advance, whatever your response might be. Keith
We were in the city of LaGrange, GA and were being broken into atleast once a week. We lost a lot of items, including a guitar, money, food etc. The other church is out in the county and their membership had dropped to about 12, so, the man over the Baptist assoc. in our district put us together for meetings etc. The church in the county that we moved to is the oldest church in the county. At the same time a black church (don't know how else to put it) that needed a church building are now leasing our old building from us. God just worked it all out for us. We love being out in the country. The children have a playground and we have so much space in our fellowship hall. Our old fellowship hall was very small and we had out-grown it. We're a small Baptist church, but growing pretty fast. I just love it. Our pastor is so happy. The part of town we used to be in was getting pretty rough and we had prayed for help and guidance. And, as always, God opened doors for all 3 churches. What a blessing. I don't mind answering questions about my faith or church, I'm am so happy with both. Thanks and God bless. Debby I was born and raised right out of Cinncy. I'm called a Yankee down here.
Thank you for sharing. Now let's all of us pray that one day rwal soon, that black congregation will not see the need to be seperate and all of us will be in worship together.
