the death of Sparano has been much exaggerated. it is what it is, no matter how disappointing. now what?
1) Ireland is an excellent GM with access to an outstanding scouting cadre. Ireland is a keeper.
2) Ross has proven himself, over-all as an owner, just don't understand why he fell in love with the least experienced of the available coaches. but you can't fault the guy for effort or tenacity.
3) Nolan has reshaped the defense into something to contend with in 2011
4) the key to success will now be in hiring an Offensive Coordinator of the same caliber as Nolan
5) then, fixing the offense & finding a franchise QB has to be the priority of the up-coming draft & free-agency
another thought, people tend to love or hate Miami, we've missed a number of opportunities with players & coaches because they simply didn't want to live & work in South Florida. I don't get it, but it may just be that way. with some, it appears to negate the advantages of no state tax & the prestige of being a part of a great franchise. maybe Ross is sharper than most gave him credit for being in trying to market the team & area in the most positive, glamorous light possible. any thoughts?

No kudos to anyone in this organization right now. Shame on them for patronizing the fan base.

Friend finyank13:
sounds like an angry statement
now make it a rational statement
1) what does being a sellout mean? how is he a sell out?
2) obviously, you think he is an incompetent/bad GM, why? -
1) you said, "Shame on them for patronizing the fan base." ???
the franchise is built on the fan base, we make it possible & economically viable. maybe its about time an owner recognizes this fact & governs himself accordingly. a good/competent owner is literally worth his weight in gold
2) I understand the anger & disenchantment, however, there are many positive elements to build on. we have come much further than the win/loss column would indicate. if we find the right OC & rebuild the offense we can be an immediate competitive force in the NFL. lets wait & see how this all plays out. -
how has ross proven himself?he missed out on three top of the line coaches all the while letting a media frenzy get way out of control and now he has egg on his face crawling back to the girlfriend he had all but dumped at the curb .i'd like to se one fa thats going to want to come here after the cluster that has gone on in the last few days not just from ross but the media as well.

its not over yet, too soon to judge
he is not a football authority, he is a business man relying on the expertise of others for technical advice
personally, I view Ross in a positive light:
1) he has repeatedly put his money where his mouth is
2) not meddled in the coaching aspects or Parcells privileged demands, as was agreed upon
3) he the first owner to recognize the problem with a disenfranchised fan-base
4) he the first owner to recognize & confront the problem with the negative image of Miami, launching a much criticized but needed PR effort to make the area more attractive
5) when it came for him to act he did so without hesitation & in the best interest of the franchise
I see no fault in the man as an owner. he is what he is: a very shrewd business man, unafraid & tenacious.
I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. going to be more to this before its over. -
Frank is right Ireland sold out his boy to save face!
Make no mistake Ireland is a big problem!
1. The Dez Bryant scandal
2. Jason Taylor said he was rude and impossible to deal with
3. Insulting Ryan Clarke
4. Cowher said no way can he work with him. Trust me Cowher is well respected and connected to have tba opinion says something.
5. Gruden shared Cowhers view.
6. All of the above leads a logical conclusion he made Harbaugh feel uneasy.
7. Dominant defenses create turnover n cover a teUncle Rico, finyank13 and GMJohnson like this. -
He did not want to go on the cart. Good thing he got better.

Friend flynryan151, the answers:
1 thru 3 (dez, jason & ryan) sometimes you've got to break some eggs to make an omelet, its the business
4 & 5 (Cowher & Cruden) they want the power of GM, not another GM... they want complete control of the team
6 (he made Harbaugh feel uneasy) did Harbaugh confirm this accusation or is this another undocumented negative speculation? I read they were friends & the presence of Ireland was a positive thing in potentially closing the deal. "All of the above leads a logical conclusion he made Harbaugh feel uneasy?" I don't think any of this is either valid or logical, just opinionated speculation.
#7 (I don't understand exactly) are you giving Ireland credit for building a second rate defense through the draft & free-agency? if so, I disagree once again, Ireland has done an excellent job in developing the defense -

We made solid improvements on defense, but the only stat I care about is points and we were 14th there. So until they start scoring yards and awarding wins on that I don't get excited. Not to mention we don't create turnovers, and can't cover a te to save our lives going back 3yrs and watching them give up 3rd and longs at will gets old. Also where was this stout D against the flipping Lions at home? They played well against the Browns, Bills and Lions yet still surrendered critical scoring drives. Dominant Defenses make a stand! -
seems to me much to do about nothing
have to be patient & see how this works out
personally, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop
the season is over, but the restructure has just begun
lot of good things here & reason for hope:
1) Ireland is an excellent GM with access to an outstanding scouting cadre. Ireland is a keeper.
2) Ross has proven himself, over-all as an owner, just don't understand why he fell in love with the least experienced of the available coaches. but you can't fault the guy for effort or tenacity.
3) Nolan has reshaped the defense into something to contend with in 2011
4) the key to success will now be in hiring an Offensive Coordinator of the same caliber as Nolan
5) then, fixing the offense & finding a franchise QB has to be the priority of the up-coming draft & free-agency
with the right OC working along with Nolan, Sparano can be neutralized
still haven't heard officially he will be back in 2011:
fool me once, shame on you
fool me twice, shame on me -
2) After this season Sparano deserves to twist in the wind. it would be irresponsible of Ross not to cover his bases while looking for a better coach. this is not over until it is over, but should the Sparano return he will be inspired to attain new heights & will have re-evaluated his many mistakes
3) hope Sparano will in the end be fired & replaced, however, if that is not possible we need to find an excellent OC, along with Nolan, to help compensate for the incompetency
