"More than any other team, they understand that this is a weapon, not a gimmick. It's a formation with very specific movement and specific play-calls. It is about power as much as trickery, maybe even more so. Honestly, I think there are only two teams in the NFL that should be running this stuff: Miami, because they do it so well, and Cleveland, because they need to figure out how to get the ball in Josh Cribbs' hands and their regular quarterbacks aren't very good.
nothing to see here, just a reminder...

We started it because in 08 we were having trouble running the ball from our standard pro sets, it has evolved to become one more thing to give us a mismatch and make opposing DC's plan for, taking up their practice time from our other stuff.

the wild cat is the single wing:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_wing
a system based in the run as old & successful as the game itself
interesting:
1) the unbalanced line can be shifted from right to left/left to right or shifted directly into a spread, creating immediate havoc & confusion on defenses
2) w/ the right QB (PatWhite/Thigpen?) it presents a potent passing game mostly based on the run/pass option & direct snap to a featured back
3) I guarantee you we haven't see the last of it in Miami of the NFL
we haven't nearly tapped into the full potential of the WildCat as of yetdolfan7171 likes this. -

I love the wildcat if Ronnie brown is handling the snap. I like Cobbs as an option out of the wildcat also. I do get nervous as hell when the wildPAT package comes in and would like to see them ease up on it.

When Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams are both in the formation at the same time it has always worked well and i think always will work well, no reason to use it less if it still has the same impact.
