To be fair here, as with a lot of things "the cove" has it's realities and stretched truths.
There are facilities that should never be able to house such creatures and those facilities mistreat, lack proper care, etc.
Mammals like Dolphins and whales should not be allowed to be held in any facilities that are strictly for show and gain and don't have the facilities or programs to sufficiently take care of them.
That said organizations like Sea World and the Miami Seaquarium have been unecessarily demonized by the PETA "everything should be free" sect.
These organizations care about their animals, go to great lengths to care for them, educate the public about the types of life in the ocean allowing them to fall in love with them, from that awareness create the motivation for people to become involved in ocean protection, are actively involved in rehabilitate and release of wild sea life programs and provide research on these creatures that is invaluable.
I've been a life long "environmentalist" that is involved with and pays special attention to anything having to do with the ocean and still don't buy the complete picture "the cove" people are selling.
Is it the best situation for these mammals to be housed in tanks rather than an open ocean.
Of course not but no one argues that.
The responsible facilities that can properly take care of the few that are held in captivity however provide benefits that help all the mammals out in the wild on a number of different levels.
On a lighter note, if you're in Miami and have not taken the family to experience the Swim with the Dolphins program, you're missing out.
It's a special experience especially for kids.
