padre31luxury_boxOPIt's ugly, it's terrible, bad luck, ill fortune, whatever one may wish to calll it, every year a given number of the youngest, most athletic young men in the US fall victim to Draft Darwinism...
Draft Darwinism is not a Theory, it is a fact, every year a handful of players suffer injuries, arrest, failed drug tests after the have declared for the NFL draft.
So far this year's class includes:
1. O'Brien Scofield..great Shrine Bowl..tore acl at the Senior Bowl practices
2. Ryan Mallet...broken foot for this sleeper Qb prospect
3. Bey Bey Thomas...broken foot while practicing running the 3 cone drill
Micah Johnson was injured with moments left in UK's final game, not during the draft process, however his injury was just as unfortunate as any of the above three.
There was a Offensive lineman who injured their shoulder at the Senior Bowl whose name I cannot run down, he injured his shoulder.
Pre Combine, feel free to update list as this process rolls along until the Draft.

Yep, he won't be up until 2012 pre Draft Scout.

Keep in mind Conu, this is more tongue in cheek than anything else typically there are 7 good prospects that have something go wrong for them this time of year.
Mallett will come out next year, if there's a Draft. He would have came out this year and was actually preparing for the Draft the week leading up to his bowl game and the Arkansas coaches gave him hell for it. They then convinced him to come back. I don't see him staying another year, if he has the option to come out.

One league source opined to Profootballtalk.com that Syracuse WR Mike Williams had a disappointing Combine.
"Mike Williams did not help himself," the source said. "He was supposed to be a 4.4 guy and was closer to 4.62. He was horrible in interviews, blaming everyone but himself for his problems. He is a great talent but a train wreck as a person." The source has Williams as a late-round prospect. Williams won't be able to run at Syracuse's Pro Day after quitting the team.
Three sources familiar with the situation tell Yahoo's Jason Cole that Dez Bryant's behavior in college was "consistently irresponsible."
"I wouldn’t draft that kid unless I had someone to wake him up in the morning to get to meetings, someone to wake him up for practice and someone to wake him up for games," one source said. Another source stressed that Bryant wasn't just late to meetings, practice, or warmups. He was often late to actual games. Yet another characterized Bryant as "just goofy." It's possible that teams are spreading bad info about Bryant in hopes of spurring a draft-day slide. We still don't see him lasting until the 12th pick.
Auburn RB Ben Tate ran an official 4.43 forty-yard dash at the Scouting Combine Sunday.
The time is far better than expected, and ranked third among tailbacks at the Combine behind only Jahvid Best and C.J. Spiller. We can say with confidence, though, that Tate doesn't play this fast. He's had one of the better Combines at his position, but is no more than a third-round prospect.
Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer indicated at the Combine that Rey Maualuga's recent DUI arrest will adversely affect his chances of playing middle linebacker as a second-year pro.
"If you don’t know what a guy is going to do off the field, that makes it tough," Zimmer said. "If he’s going to get suspended, how can you make him your centerpiece? How can you do that?" LSU WR Brandon LaFell ran an official forty time of 4.6-flat at the NFL Scouting Combine on Sunday.
The time isn't overly unimpressive, but LaFell is a possession receiver first with some run-after-catch skills and experience in a pro-style system. LaFell can also be a devastating blocker. While he is unlikely to be drafted on the first day, LaFell could offer value in the late-second to third round
Mississippi State RB Anthony Dixon ran 4.67 and 4.65 in the forty-yard dash at the Scouting Combine on Sunday.
Dixon's calling card has never been long speed, but he needed to time faster to guarantee his position at the next level will be tailback. The Senior Bowl coaching staff tried Dixon at fullback. He's a mid-round prospect.
Kansas WR Dezmon Briscoe's best unofficial forty-yard dash time was 4.61 at the Scouting Combine Sunday.
Not very encouraging. Briscoe also managed just nine reps of 225 pounds on the bench press Friday and looked slow out of his breaks on Sunday. It hasn't been a great Combine for him, and he clearly wasn't prepared for Indy.
Personally, I wouldn't draft Bryant. I've been screaming his name for a while now, but everything I'm reading about him is just negative. Give me Antonio Bryant and a defensive player at 12 please.
