7 of 15. A triple. Two dingers and a 3/2 BB/K ratio. 1.619 OPS. Yes. Get them off our damn field. And yet, they have won two championships in 15 years on our field, while our Dolphins havent won one in 35 years.
I haven't heard anything one way or the other about him. I presume he'll be called up around midseason at the latest.
Why the Marlins sent that kid down there to start the season I'll never know. I can understand if he was a pitcher, but makes no sense for an OF of his caliber (on a team that bad) to not make the big club out of Spring.
He's not ready. He literally just turned 21 a few days ago. He has trouble staying back on breaking balls and he needs the extra experience. If he keeps up this pace, expect him here by July. Besides, it's not like our CFers are doing us in. 'Fredo's an OBP machine and Cody goes Babe Ruth on lefties. The outfield is fine. Our starting pitching, however.. Speaking of which, Volstad went 6ip 5h 1r(1er) 3bb k in AA tonight.
Man if we actually keep this up all year I wouldnt know whether to call Loria just plain lucky or actually intelligent.
Is it just me, or are the Marlins turning out the way the media expected the Tigers to? I'm not saying we'll even be a factor in the wild card race, but wow. 6-3? Leading the division? No one guessed this. We're swinging the bats hard, and the pitching isn't totally horrific. Sounds exactly like Detroit South to me.
Swept the 'Gnats....onto the Astros. I hope the pitching holds up. I really liked Cantu from his days with the Rays
Pitching has been inconsistent to say the least, but man, we're really swinging. Everyone has stepped up on the bats, especially Cantu who has been playing pretty well as of late. Great to see from a guy who wasn't even expected to make the roster. How about that play by The Hammer last night to keep that ball in play?
Game easily goes extra innings, if Washington doesn't go up right there in the 8th. Heads up play -- he goes strictly for the out and drops it, it's a homer.
Wish I could've seen it. I was at work with no TV access. (I've missed every game in this series. I wasn't sure if the first or second game was blanked out, and then I forgot to set the DVR for the 3rd.) We're at Houston tonight. The Astros scare me a little, since they seem to enjoy playing spoiler. We're definitely ripe targets.
Top of the 3rd at Minute Maid Park. Marlins have scored 5 runs this inning; 1 RBI, 1 2-run HR from Jeremy Hermida, and another 2-run HR from Jorge Cantu that left the ballpark.
lol, wow, this is amazing. 6 jacks tonight. Andino looks nice at 2b, too. That 1-2 play with Hanley was beautiful.
Marlins win 10-6. I'm still afraid of the Astros, but this was a hell of a power-swinging night. Screw the Mets!
Until we run into a team with really good pitching. The bats will fall silent, and we'll have to win 3-2 with defense and singles/doubles.
I Love our offense....whata night last night Oh and, how can you not be THRILLED with Hermidas start so far?!??! Guys got so much promise, i love it
Hermida's been impressive lately. I think he would do pretty well in the #3 batting spot as our slugger.
agreed completley....plus he has some good speed around the bases too. Upgrade from cabreras base running from last season.
Dunno about that, Des. I've always kinda seen him as a #2. Almenzega, Hermida, Hanley, Jacobs, Hammmer, Uggla, Cantu, Rabelo. I think that would make a great lineup.
I don't think Amezega should be in the #1 spot. Put him in the 2nd or 3rd tier, probably the #5 spot. And let's not forget that Cameron Maybin WILL be called up this season. We'll have to make room for him somehow. Hanley/Maybin/Hermida, maybe?
God please no to amezega at lead off.....hes a good little player, great for depth...but the guys not a 162 game starter.....imho
