No way brotha. not trying to correct you at all, just my opinion thats all....i love what he does for us in center (and its not even his position) and he has good contact...i just dont see him starting...its guys like him and cody ross that should thank god the marlins have such a bad payroll....cause they would be AAA with any other franchise
Andrew Miller doesn't look ready for the big leagues at all. I know it's only been a game and a couple of innings, but he's not ready.
Bottom of the third, and we're down 5-0? Yeah, Miller needs to be sent down to AAA for a little while.
Hah. I hope Nolasco can get back to his 2006 form. A lineup of Olsen, Sanchez, Hendrickson, Nolasco, and a non-sucky Miller would be awesome.
I'm sorry, but that is an absolute false statement. How many teams have a player who can play 7 positions at a gold glove level on any given night? And Cody Ross put up a 1.064 OPS last year. 1.064!! That led our team. Plus a 1.212 OPS against LHP. Alfredo and Cody are unique players. Alfredo is a versatile defensive weapon, and Cody is a top 15 hitter in the MLB against left-handed pitching. I guarantee both of them make every ball club in the bigs, easy.
is that why cody ross went from like 3 other teams....the reds, dodgers, and tigers i believe and got cut from them all?!? Dude, be honest....hes not close to TOP 15 in the majors against lefties.....are you serious.....top 15 ?!?! he didnt play all 162 games last season....his numbers are skewed....he did alot of fill in and pinch hitting...and he was injured alot with his hamstring....those numbers have ZERO merit and seriously LMAO at Amezega playing 7 positions at a GOLD GLOVE level....hes a real good infielder.....but he is not close to a gold glove outfielder....the only reason he makes crazy catches is because he takes bad breaks on balls and has to hustle and dive to make catches someone like andrew jones would make in his sleep anytime EDIT-- Cody Ross never played more than 91 games in a season.....thats almost half a year bro. And last season with his "team leading" numbers.....he played 66 games. heres to further my point more....about being AAA with any other club 2003-Detroit-- 6 Games / .211 AVG (keep in mind in 2003 Detroit was HORRIBLE either that year or the year before they almost broke the most losses record...and he only made it up for 6 games?)**The Tigers were 43-119 in 2003** 2004- Where is he?!?! No stats.....minors maybe?! 2005-LA dodgers--14 games / .160 AVG 2006--Cincy Reds--2 games / .200 AVG 2006--LA Dodgers(again)--8 Games 2006--Marlins(another team?)--91 Games / 250 At Bats......... .212 AVG / .284 OBP / .680 OPS **This is his CAREER most at bats and games played....and he ended with those numbers^^ ??? Top 15? Comon bro. 2007--Marlins--66 Games / 173 At Bats <-------Not enough games, or at bats (skewed numbers)--->.335 Avg / 1.064 OPS **If he gets as much at bats as the other "top 15" batters against lefties in the league....those numbers go down guarenteed 2008--Marlins--8 Games / 19 At bats / .105 AVG / .150 OBP / .308 OPS 5 Year Career--195 Games (1 season is 162 Games) 505 At Bats (Hanley had 633 at bats in 2006) .255 AVG / .324 OBP / .485 SLG / .809 OPS The guys a minor leaguer if its not for our payroll.....hes good bat off the bench, but not big league player on any other team, his numbers are low.....and he is injured all the time so he cant get at bats....
Here's where we will disagree. My point wasn't where they were in years past. Its that breaking camp in 2008, they make any team.
Pitching will be our downfall this season....... EDIT: Eventhough we wont win alot of games with a combined 1 run in 2 games
Wes Helms made a good play in the field....but his bat is ice cold....that arc-curve ball was owning him all day Sucked not having Jacobs in the lineup
And to add upon that, Jacobs never had problems hitting lefties in the minors. I say give him those at bats and let him prove himself as an everyday player.
Maybe I'm biased because I've met Mike Jacobs (he was a visitor last year at the hospital I used to work at) but I like him. He's one of the guys who comes to work, does his job, and gets no recognition for being a solid player--kind of like Josh Willingham. (3 home runs in 10 games? Come on, let's hear it for Josh. And let's not forget Jacobs' Grand Slam.) So the Marlins have the night off before starting a home series against the Braves. This series will be crucial; we need to at least win 2-1. 3-0 will go a long way over the next few weeks in hanging on to the division lead, IMO. And this Astros series may come back to bite us in the butt later.
To kind of re-establish this point, Cam is 1 for his last 14 with 8 strikeouts. Kinda reminds you he's only 21 years old.
Greg Olsen, Chicago Bears TE? He pitches for us? Yeah, Scott Olsen has been turning in some damn good starts for us. Him and Hendrickson have been pretty good so far, though Hendrickson's ERA is horrific. (And how the hell does Kevin Gregg have an ERA over 4? Cripes.) It's good to see that our pitching staff can rebound at least in part from 2007, and also good to see that Good Scott Olsen has replaced Evil Scott Olsen. Marlins are 8-5, 2 games upon the 6-6 Mets, and 3 games ahead of the 5-8 Braves. This is an important series, and we need to win it. Sweeping would be fantastic, but unrealistic. Winning tomorrow or Thursday will be fine by me.
would love a home sweep Vs the braves.....so many braves fans up here in charlotte nc....gotta rep my fish hat proudly!!!
Im sorry, but I dont know if there is such a thing as an 'important' series in April. Every game of an 162 game season is equally important IMO...
yeah cause winning 2 more games is a complete impossibility that NEVER happens in baseball..... Enless your the tigers this year....they have yet to win 2 in a row
yea ill give ya hudson....he owns the marlins....always has. Smoltz on the other hand....used to own us when he closed games....but we can rock him around abit once we see him a few times....IE: 4th - 5th inning.....so ill take 2 of 3 haha
