This is of course assuming we dont score a boat load of runs off of (insert Marlins Thurdsday starter whos name I dont know because their pitching staff is so depleted)
Well if we are assuming, then lets assume....we win 14 straight division titles, in turn equaling 14 straight playoff appearances.....and we only win 1 world seris....then assume another team....for S***s and giggles....lets call them the "marlins" dont win any division titles, yet they have 2 world series titles....i like assuming things as well...man i would hate to be the hypothetical team that went to the playoffs 14 times in a row and only won 1 world series
Your personal opinion then. Id hate to be the team whos owners had 2 huge Fire-Sales, told the fans they only cared about making money, fired a 'Manager of the Year' after one season because the owner is a dick, allowed a team to get so bad they couldnt GIVE away tix, took forever to get a stadium deal, didnt put money into the team, only had 2 winning seasons in its 15 year history... Shall I go on?
atleast we know, as fans where we stand.....its not a let down to be bad all the time, when you know you will be bad....i cuoldnt imagine going to 14 straight playoffs....and only winning 1 time....1 out of 14 is HORRIBLE %......thats just a big time let down, and disapointment.....we both are in sad fanShips
I hear you bro. But at least during that run I knew my team had a CHANCE. I cant imagine starting the season off knowing my team wasnt going anywhere. It takes alot of luck to win a WS. Sometimes I think the Braves won 14 years in a row with smoke and mirrors. We won a division with Rico Brogna as our starting 1B and Russ Ortiz as our Ace one year LOL
thats not true for this year....the marlins are going somewhere....i dont trust loria in the least running this team. I would like to see him sell the team and get someone in here like mark cuban who will put a winner on the field at the new ballpark. Loria enjoys his art more than his team, and literally i hate the guy....i love the young talent, and we need to PLEASE GOD PLEASE keep them together...and add some veteran position players....hanley, jacobs, willingham, maybin, hermida and others.....is a team to build around....i thought as soon as this stadium breaks ground we need to announce the signing of hanley to a long term deal...i mean REAL long term....and prove to this town we ar for real about keeping this team together and prove we really wanna win, not just be a AAA team in the majors for big guns like boston and new york to pry off of in the future when we release them
Unfortunately, unless they get a new owner who can afford to pay those contracts (Hanley, Uggla, Jacobs etc) when they are eligible for FA its gonna be tough. You can however be a small-market team and have relative success. The Twins have done a decent job of this in the last 5-6 years. But yeah, a guy like Cuban would be huge for them.
It's absolutely important. The Marlins collapsed in the second half of last year because they realized they had lost enough games in the first half to be a long shot for contention in the second half. Beating a divisional rival 2-1 and maintaining the division lead is absolutely important for this young club.
Marlins win 6-5. Hendrickson gets his 3rd win in a row, Gregg records a save, Marlins are now 9-5 on the year. This kind of solid start is exactly what the team needed in light of the Cabrera/Willis trade.
What a dissapointing game all-around. I was there last night. We have soooo many oppurtunities with RISP...frustrating bro.
i was gettin pissed, we kept taking the lead...and lettin you guys come riggght back in it...glad we pulled it off though... Hudson looked horrible...he was all over the place
ill take 2 of 3 every time. Got killed today though....smoltz is a man-bear-pig of a beast on the mound
Like I keep saying, this one was important for us, and I'm happy to take it 2-1. Next up: the Gnats. At home. We need to sweep these guys.
Washington beats us 6-4. I know it's early in the season, but we started going on losing streaks early last year too.
Keep taking series' boys.....i love it... oh and how awesome is hanley? his 2nd homerun today, he hit it one handed, and his back foot came out from under him in mid swing, and he still muscled it over the center field wall.....unbelieveable....not alot of leadoff hitters can do that, we need a leadoff batter (MAYYYBBBIIIINNN) get hanley at the 3 hole, hermida 2nd.....and get this party started 125 rbi's a season for hanley if thats the case
Hanley is already a monster. If this team is winning towards the middle of the season I think they will load up as much as they can to make a push for the playoffs. The Marlins are amazing with what they do with there patroll
Nice to be back in first place where we belong, eh guys? Also nice to see that we've got a lot of regulars in this thread. My baby's grown up!
man 8 doubles, 3 hrs? thats a good week for some teams.....i love it.....i love watching this team, i havent been this excited for awhile, i run into the house from work and click on tommy H and richy waltz for marlins on deck and dont move till gregg is slappin hands after a save
What a game. The Cubs had trouble with this team? Come on. This team is really something, though I'm afraid that when the bats stop swinging the wins will stop coming.
Does that mean we'll get to see the Marlins back in the World Series? If that's the case, we need to sign Jeff Conine again.
