Not really, but I decided to buy a 42" 1080P LCD TV from Brandsmart today. I love life right now.

My brother went to American Electonics last week and got a 50" Samsung Plasma 1080P for $1,000. That thing is balls! Glad to hear you got yourself a big set. I'm going to get one, but am waiting until there's an unpassable deal, or I move....thought i might have found it last week when they had a 42" bravia and a PS3 for $1,300 at bestbuy, but opted out when I found out it was only 60 MHZ.

Yeah, make sure you get a 120Hz whatever you do.

The eyes can't process anything greater than that really, so don't get consumed by these new sets advertising 240Hz or something.

I'm biding my time to pick up a 52" 120Hz to replace my 42".

PS: You should really do yourself a favor and look in to getting it professionally calibrated.

Question- How well does it work to play multi-player FPS on those larger TV's? I am playing on a 30inch widescreen 1080i and I have to say, I dont want anything bigger for gaming. I am envious for movies and tv though.

    ???

Halo 3, RB6:V(1+2), GoW, etc. I think are all much better on my 61" than on anything else I've played them on.

I play just fine on my 57" as well.... I know a lot of people say that anything bigger than 42" for gaming is too big but I've never felt disadvantaged when online.

I've honestly never heard that. I mean, I know people who play with their projectors on 100"+ screens, and they never complain. I mean, your biggest deterrent to online play is internet connection. Beyond that, TV lag plays a part, but lag is more of an issue in regards to TV technology (LCD, Plasma, DLP, CRT, projector) than screen size.

I never thought my old 52" took away from my gaming. This new 42" looks even better... But that's more because of the quality of picture and the resolution, not the size.

I've seen it mostly from Halo kids that follow MLG. Something about the controller sensitivity being affected by the size of the TV...

I guess it effects different people differently. I was talking about this with some Halo buddies last night and one of them goes back and forth between a smaller screen and a large tv and for him the smaller is indeed much better, no contest. I have actually considered buying a 19 inch widescreen to game on but I don't have the space to set it up and have it be in a position where my surround sound would still be right.

For me it seems my reaction time is just a hair slower on the large screen because my eyes are having to scan a larger area and I cant keep track of motion on the edges as well.

that totally makes sense... I'm not into competitive gaming enough for it to make a difference.

That just seems to me like you are sitting far too close if that is the case. I sit ~8-9ft back, and have no issue.

Or maybe my reaction time is just real good. :shifty:

That will change once you hit puberty and discover girls.
