I am saddened by his passing, but I know he was living with Alzheimers for years now, so maybe for him, it's a relief to be free of the pain and confusion of the last few years. He was a hell of an actor and a good man.

He played a Mexican in Orson Welles' "Touch of Evil" which is kind of funny, an American Icon like Heston, playing a Mexican.
