They have a 15-10 lead and they sit Manning, Wayne, and half their defense.
Not only do they give away any chance at going undefeated, but they are affecting the playoff chase by handing the jets a playoff spot (they win next week they are in)
The Ravens, Broncos, Texans and Steelers are being cheated with what is in essence a RIGGED game.
They are flat out throwing a game in the NFL.
This is disgraceful.

How about us we still have a chance is 4 games go our way....Now we need 5 our way
Indy will get beat by NE or SD IMO -
If I were a member of the 72 Fins I'd be pissed.
You try to make history, you never ever settle. -
Um.....they are protecting their star players because obviously they don't care about going undefeated. They would rather not risk losing Manning or someone else and win a Super Bowl. What's the problem with that?

A bit of an overreaction here, but I agree in principal.

It's really sad that so many so called Dolfans show so little respect for the Undefeated team.
-
well, refs throw NFL games all the time. Whats the problem? :shifty:
-
BS, How good did the Pats feel after going undefeated then losing the SB? Its not about some garbage "historic" stuff its about raising the lomabardi.
-
bad assumptions on all counts.
you know what happens when you assume..... -
it's embarrassing to watch.

The Defending Champion Steelers are eliminated by this rigged game.
-
they are playing to win a superbowl
they don't care about some stupid *** record that doesn't mean anything to anyone, except some dolphans and it only matters to you because this team hasn't done squat for 4 decades almost.. you all need something to cling to..
they can do whatever they want. they earned it by going 14-0
maybe the other teams shouldn't have lost 7 games...
and who wouldn't want the jets in the playoffs they suck.. maybe they can get lucky in the first rd and then the colts have an easy win waiting for them... -
The 72 Phins didn't have bye weeks during the season or playoffs. And they didn't sit players.
In comparison, the Colts are pansies.dolphindebby, Pagan, NaboCane and 2 others like this. -
Is there anybody you like?

Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?
Because injuries happen when you're going for glory rather than going for the ultimate prize. -
the steelers are not eliminated by this game...
but just makes their chances even slimmer -
Throwing a game is purposely losing. They are not purposely losing. They are still trying to win with their backups. Its not like they are just taking knees and handing the ball to the other team for TDs...
They are protecting their players. Teams do this EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Thats why Fantasy Football playoffs usually end around Week 15ish... specifically b/c teams always seem to rest their best players in the last week or 2 if they have their spot locked up.
Before this season started, a lot of us were counting on the Steelers resting their players for the playoffs in Week 17... assuming they'd have a playoff spot already locked up...jdang307 likes this. -
INJURIES EXCUSE IS A COPOUT.
YOU PLAY TO WIN EVERYGAME!
strap them on or pick up pompoms...thats should be your only choice! -
No they don't. You can't assume that Manning or Wayne will get injured just because they're playing to become undefeated.late again likes this.

you're all just pissed because the jets are going to the playoffs and miami isn't...
the colts earned it .
they aren't risking a likely superbowl appearance in garbage time of a meaningless game-for them -
NO.
The Jets are in with a win. -
Unlike the Patriots organization the Colts have class.
-
The f*cking Saints played their starters today. The Saints! There is nothing wrong with playing your starters to achieve a goal only few have accomplished.BigDogsHunt likes this.

Because they put the champagne on ice for Mercury Morris?
-
Look at it this way ..... this might mean we end up third in the division possibly .... which means we might play Jax or Tenn next year instead of Houston again ....if Houston finishes second in that division.
Whatever it is, we just can't beat those guys! -
With due respect S126, I don't think the Colts are throwing anything. I think they're being conservative, and erring on the side of caution. Perfection, while a noble goal, isn't the primary objective. Winning the Super Bowl is. Staying/being healthy for the playoff push therefore is their primary goal.
For Phins fans, it a tough call. On the one hand, you wanna see the Colts lose so the '72 season remains the only perfect season in the modern era. On the other hand, you never wanna see the Jests win...anything.
As for the other teams potentially affected by the outcome of the Colts/Jets game, well, as Al Davis is prone to saying...just win baby! In other words, don't put yourself in a situation where you need X, Y & Z to help you get into the playoffs.
Point being, I think the Colts have earned the right to start/sit whomever they want.
JMHO... -
Most Dolfans don't have a problem with seeing the best record in all of sports be preserved. Why do you have a problem with it?
-
The UNOFFICIAL RULE IS SIMPLE:
No Losses = you play everyone every game till you lose
Once you Lose = sit whomever you want...who cares.
UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONSHIP is a beutiful thing and always will be.:hi5:NaboCane likes this.
