I would like to keep Landry in Miami in the range of 10-12 million. I think I just heard Devonte Adams got something like 4 years for 58 million. If that is true, then I don’t think Miami will be willing to give him that much as he just seems discontent to me in Miami for some reason.

Everyone keep in mind that Jarvis has had a better overall career than Adams (just signed a big contract) up to this point.

I think the Davante Adams contract is worth about 14.5 per year.

But the last game was about as embarrassing as I’ve seen in a long time. It was something we can’t have happen.”
Landry is headed for free agency in March and word last month was that talks are starting up on a new deal in Miami. Gase, who had a sideline argument with Landry in Week 16, said on Wednesday that the team won’t overreact to one incident but will look at “the body of work and see what direction we want to go.” -
unless we pay him 14+ a yr hes gone, and with him will walk Gaes and RT careers after next season. IMO its in gase and rt best interest to give juice exactly that, JUICE, cut parker or do whatever you have to do but just as a TE is to every other team which Miami never has JUICE is RT warm blanket!!!

I think Landry's familiarity with Tannehill and going into a potential third year in Gase's system will keep him around. Most likely at the expense of some restructuring of bad contracts or cuts. Whose contracts? No idea. I nominate Tannehill and Suh to shave off some cash.

One of my biggest gripes about the guy since he's been Dolphin was his inability to score. Even with the 9 TD's I'm still not sold, I mean let's consider the fact that:
- He was 3rd most targeted receiver in the league at 161 for 2017
- Basically 60 more targets than the next closest receiver on the team
- He only caught 69% of this passes
To me, I don't see an efficient receiver. I see a guy who's TD numbers were inflated from Cutler's fixation and an offense that threw the ball nearly two times as much as it ran it, which WAS NOT successful.
His impact on the game is limited as he can be schemed against in ways a guy like Antonio Brown cannot be.Last edited: Jan 12, 2018 -
Yeh i wouldn't want him either for over 12 million a year. My biggest gripe is if this was his best attitude going into a make or break contract year how is he going to act after getting paid?

It would be worth making him an offer. I leave it to the front office as to what that offer should be. I think whatever the offer is, Jarvis will think he is worth more and try free agency.
This is about the time, after a new coach comes in, that some of the former high performing players leave, get cut or are traded, as the teams newer players start to take over the 1st string positions.
Considering all that, it would be great if we could trade him for some draft picks. I am not sure that is possible, but I could see it as an option if it is available.
Whether he stays or goes, I would like to see some new receivers in camp, especially a draft pick or some undrafted free agents. It seems the current coaching staff and front office have shown some effectiveness in the last two drafts in picking and developing new players. I feel we have fewer glaring holes to address as a team, which should open the door for more developmental depth drafts.
I am all ready for training camp to begin so we can see who we got, who we keep and what we can do with them as a team.
I am currently most interested in seeing what the final changes being made to the coaching staff are, so there is something new to post about besides the draft. -
Landry caught 78% of catches in the RZ highest on the team for WR's for comparison Landry was targeted 23 times inside the 20 caught 18 good for 78.26% and inside the 10 he was targeted 14 times caught 11 good for 78.57% and 9 TD's, and Julio Jones was targeted 22 times inside the 20 caught 8 good for 36.36% and 2 TDs and inside the 10 he had 14 targets for 7 catches good for 50% and 2 TD's. Also Landry was 4th the league in catch % for Wr's with 69.6%...inefficient? Not to mention he had Jay Cutler throwing him the ball.resnor likes this.

His catch % is good but remember, his passes are really short. Think about it. His ypc is 8.8, with a high catch rate his passes were really short, and with YAC really really short.
Where are you getting 4th in the league by the way? Is there a cutoff?
According to this Golden Tate, Ted Ginn Jr, Cordarrelle Patterson, Adam Humprhies, Juju Smith-Schuster, Cobb, Trent Taylor, Danny Amendola, Michael Thomas, Tyreek hill, Sterling Sheppard, all have higher catch percentage.

As close to the line of scrimmage as Landry catches most of his passes, that high catch # isn't all that special. Ted Ginn catching that high is remarkable. Adam Humprhies is someone I keep bringing up. Landry is a better WR than Humphries, no question. Is he $12-14 million better?
Not sure if this is accurate, but Landry's average depth of target is 6.8. Which is about his range. And it's low. About as low as it gets for WRs.

The fact he's our best player on O is not good. He should be our second best receiver at least, and behind QB. And maybe Rb on some teams.
Some fans get to say they have an Aj Green, an Antonio Brown, a Deandre Hopkins, a TY Hilton, Odell, Mike Evans, etc. We get to say Jarvis Landry.
You're down 5, and there is 90 seconds. Any of the elite WRs you hope can strike a dagger in the heart of the opposing teams.
With Landry we'd have to dink and dunk across the field. It just isnt there, sorry. That said I'm not saying we should jettison him. He's a great slot WR. But if we're paying $14m a year or something I'll be asking for what. $40m cap hit for him and Suh next year? That's not good management. (yes I know they'd probably structure it to push the cap hit later) -
My mistake you are correct I meant he is 4th in catch% with WR's over 100 targets. I'm willing to give him a mulligan on the 8.8, last year with a superior QB he had 12.1 average and the past 3 years before 2017 he had an upward trend. I think 11/12 is his range with maybe the occasional 13 ypc. I agree i like to use ypt myself here are his 2016 numbers with a better QB compared to this years all pro WR's.

With a bad QB like Cutler Landry's #s suffered. Now if he has similar #s next year with Tannehill I'll be upset but I think this year will be an aberration. -

I dont like his contract situation, i think anything beyond 12 million for him is overpaying, but if we have to overpay to keep hom then that is better than losing him for nothing. At least we can entertain trade offers by keeping him.
If we just let him walk free i think some people in that front office and perhaps a coach may need to get fired.
If he was not in your plans, why didnt you try to trade him in the offseason last year or before the deadline? He has high value. Thats a waste.resnor likes this. -
If Landry is smart he will walk out of Miami and land a HUGE contract somewhere. The Dolphins have not shown me a commitment to win championships, like every year they will not address the needs of this team and there's a 95% chance whoever we draft first round will be a bust, dont shoot the messenger just look at our history. I like Ryan Tannehill the man but not the QB, he has been here 5 years and as a team we are basically where we as a team before we drafted him, his win loss record doesn't me all fuzzy inside. Landry is an amazing player he has all the skills almost any team would want and be willing to pay for. I as a fan want him back, but me as a person think he would be crazy to sign here. This team has gone so far down hill since the passing of Joe Roby and we had nothing but bad owners since then, we need a a owner like Roby/Kraft to make this franchise great again.

The only way I see Landry staying in Miami is an incentive-heavy contract- so maybe an $6-8M guarantee per season and about $6-8M in incentives. That puts him at the number he expects on paper (around $15M/season) but protects us in case he starts getting suspensions for his outbursts.
What I don't see is writing him a $15M check each year just for showing up and catching 100+ short passes. If he wants to be the team leader, then he needs to start actually leading instead of celebrating first downs when we're losing by 20.
