I would, typically with games like this you hope to get maybe 8 or 9 hours out of it. I'm 65% done and 11 hours in, and that's on normal mode, I fully plan on replaying it once I'm done on the harder, if not the hardest difficulty offered. Lots of improvisation in the gameplay when it comes to fighting the infected, militaristic enemies, and bandits. Great mood and a mature story only helps it. There's a part, and I don't want to give away too much, but Joel gets separated from Ellie and is stuck in an elevator shaft with water up to about his waist. It made me feel like I was 5 years old again, I haven't been so shook like that since the high school part in F. E. A. R. 2.
Spoiler that bloater literally made me poop my pants... my hair was standing up on the back of my neck
Just beat it this morning. Such an awesome game. I liked it more than Bioshock Infinite personally. I just cared more about Joel and Ellie I guess.
how many hours and what level of difficulty? I'm playing normal, I've probably put between 12 to 16 hours into it (haven't checked lately) and I'm not done yet, but I think I'm close. I like to check EVERYTHING out though... heheh
So I've been considering this game but I need to ask you guys, is this actually much of a game? By that I mean, is it more just a pretty graphics story where you press some buttons to guide it along, or is there actually entertaining gameplay? What I've seen makes me think it's more of a movie with some button pushing. If I'm wrong please let me know. Because Bioshock Infinite bored the hell out of me, and I'm not interested in another game like that.
It'a not Call of Duty... Or even Bioshock Infinite for that matter. It's a slower pace than both. But I think it was awsome. Its a very different kind of shooter/adventure/survival horror. I'd say go to the PSN store and try the demo.
I'd disagree that it isn't Bioshock Infinite. In the broad and middle strokes, the two are more or less the exact same game: a grizzled Troy Baker kills people and uses their stuff to kill more people to protect a young girl who is special in multiple ways… and gives you ammo once in a while.
Ok, it occurred to me that this may be the best game I have played this generation. I've spent the past few hours trying to think what games I have played that I thought were better and I can't think of any off the top of my head.
Yeah... I just finished it.. over 19 hours. My stats say I died over 100 times ahahahahah... that was on normal. For me, it was similar to Uncharted 2. And when I first got my PS3, Uncharted 2 was one of my first games and I feel the same way now that I did then. I'm sad that it's over and not sure what to do now. Talking about the ending: Spoiler I would assume that there would be a sequel just because of how well the game is doing... somewhat disappointed in how it ended. I mean Joel is one twisted ****. Seems because he lost his daughter that he wants to "keep" Ellie rather than save the world. Just a little selfish there Joel.
Spoiler I don't think it's that he wants to keep her, but rather he feels compelled to protect her from anyone and everyone who would use her. He wants her to be able to experience life (even one as harsh as they've had up to this point) and to be sure she never feels alone again. He doesn't want to see her give up her life so brazenly just to help some people who don't particularly care about what is best for her or even who appreciate who she is as a person. I believe he loves her just as he did his daughter (by the end at least) and therefore wants to show her the good things life has to offer before allowing her to decide whether to give up her life or not. It's easy to decide to think your life is worth sacrificing when there isn't much of anything or anyone to live for. Just my opinion though.
So based on me not really enjoying Bioshock Infinite, do you think I wouldn't enjoy this? I can deal with a similar type story. But not another game with stale game play.
The Uncharted series was my favorite series ever. If Last of us is like that as should be expected, I'm really looking forward to getting this game.
Really? I don't feel that way. I'm not saying it's the same game, there are differences which are obvious (weapons upgrades, player specific upgrades, stealthing). But as far as how the player interacts with the world, shooting style, a single story line, how the game looks, it's close. And for me, it left me with that same empty feeling (wanting MOAR!) once the game was over.
Uncharted is about swashbuckling and killing hundreds of guys. The Last of Us will kill you more than you kill its enemies, encourages and rewards you to avoid fighting, and avoids as much as possible the huge Hollywood set pieces that Uncharted loved.
On another note, I don't understand how those guys that post on youtube the walkthrough of the entire game, how they can do that without some type of legal complaint from the game designers, distributors, etc. That one guy seems to be making a living off of it haha. Maybe I should do the same thing?
I just started playing Last of Us. The controls and gameplay are very much like Uncharted. It also has very similar graphics (excellent). So far it feels slower paced and there's less emphasis on running, climbing and jumping skills. I love that I have no idea what's going to happen in the storyline. It's very much like the Uncharted series in that it feels like you're playing a movie. I prefer Indiana Jones type movies to post-apocalyptic movies so at the same point in my gameplay I would rate Uncharted higher in terms of my enjoyment, but I am definitely liking the game so far.
Uncharted does not have the long breaks between action that TLOU does. I really don't understand the comparisons.
glad you like it. I'm watching the walkthrough's on youtube even though i've solved the game. I just like to see other people's reactions to the real scary stuff I do think the game is a lot like uncharted... but to the hard core gamers, like desides and stitches, there are noticeable differences
I guess? It's not the same game. It's a different story with different pacing, but the mechanics are basically identical. The look is very similar. I see a lot more similarities than differences.
same here... btw, which was your favorite Uncharted? Mine is 2 and I'm wondering if that was because it was the first one I played. I thought the third one was a bit repetitive. And the first wasn't as advanced. I played it 2-1-3 as well.
It was the second one for me. I played them in order. The second one had better graphics and was just more advanced. I agree that the third one got repetitive. Are they still making the movie?
Am I able to get this game used? Or is there something that would prevent me from that, and I need to purchase it brand new?
Eh thanks, but someone wants to see me their copy, playstation move with 2 move controllers and sports champion for $60...good deal?
If you want to play multiplayer, there is a Online Pass. I didn't use mine though, and I think that interested the person who bought it from me.
