The NCAA rolling 4 year Academic Progress Reports are out...so we no longer have to argue the merits of a Universities football team arbitrarily.......we have measurable's and trends....some we may be interested in.....by the way the averages for 2009 were 961 for private institutions, 941 for public institutions and 935 for BCS institutions in the sport of football.

University of Miami 977 (09) and 969 (08). Trend is upward since the inception of APR's and if you look at the calculation and how it is figured graduation rates have a lot to do with the trend as GPA's remained about the same. Way above both public and private institutions and far above BCS teams. Incoming test scores the last two years are off the charts so this number may get even better in 10.

University of Florida. 963 (09) and 962 (08). Steady, steady steady... far above the averages of BCS and PI's. Next year should be down as incoming test scores are well below national averages this year and the last three years are below Averages.

    FSU
932 (09) 954 (08). Down from their high significantly. Below the national averages and graduation rates continue to decline although GPA's are steady....guess they are recruiting athletes and not student athletes......incoming test scores are poor so expect to take some heat next year Nole fans.....

Ohio State Community college at Columbus...just kidding Buckeye....968 (09) and 942 (08). Above the national averages and all the calculation numbers remain pretty steady with a decent increase from 08 to 09.

FIU 904 (09) and 887 (08). Well below national averages and trend is only slightly up. What is up with this place...good school overall by the numbers but their athletic program must take some real winners in the classroom....

You have to be damn poor to make the penalty list but somehow some major programs managed to do just that...Ole Miss (no wonder they are getting better)....FAU (wow FIU cannot with those scores, but FAU can...wow), Georgia Southern (anyone really care?), Bowling Green (getting better though) and Buffalo (go Turner go).......

Congrats to the Canes and Gators on achievements that matter more than football in this world to many of these kids.
