Look...Jones should have kept his opinion to himself and that is the bottome line. He is a professional football player who frankly...is in no position to be voicing his opinion. Yes, you are entitled to your own opinions, yes you have the right to like or dislike whatever is you want in this world. However if it were me in Jones' position (a guy that will be fighting for a roster spot this year) I would have kept any potential controversy away from me and just played ball. At the end of the day everyone is entitled to an opinion and every can and will judge you for that opinion. He should have kept his mouth shut...BECAUSE it involved his trade, his business, his livelihood, and his sustenance.

At the end of the day I'm with the group that just wants to know if Michael Sam can get it done in the NFL as a Defensive End. He certainly played well in college and was named the top defensive player in the toughest conference. He'll have a shot in St. Louis and I personally am rooting for the guy.

He works in the entertainment industry. Tweeting is broadcasting. This isn't rocket surgery here. He can tweet it, but his employer can then take the actions they feel are appropriate in response. People are fired for crap they put out on social media all the time. Freedom of speech is not freedom from the consequences of that speech.

It comes down to this, Jones or anyone else has the right to voice their opinions, including opposition to Jones' views.

If you have the right to say something offensive, someone else has the right to be offended. They also have the right to demand for your employer to disassociate themselves with the offensive comments. The business has the right to either disassociate themselves or not. The offending person has the right to work at that business or not.

Everything is working as intended.

For the ridiculous narrative that's being cried over to work, then you could go to work on your day off and tell all the customers that come in, that Hitler was right, women are a less than human, the homeless should be hunted and its your opinion every 3rd baby a family has should be fed to prisoners. So if an employer asks a person if they believe in global warming on an application and the person says yes in your minds thats enough of a reason to not hire them?

I'm trying to understand your position. If im understanding you correctly a company can do whatever it feels is in its best interests.

If I had a coal mine I could fire anyone who votes left cause their politics interfere with my business. If I owned a country club I could refuse blacks cause my customers dont like them.

Refusing service to black people is illegal so its a stupid hypothetical. My example (and the real life events that are actually happening) are about employees turning away customers. I assure you, you'd fire or reprimand someone if they cost you business.

It is good to hear that Jones was talked to and fined for his idiotic tweets. He can believe what he wants but he should think before making public comments that could make the team look bad.
