first (only?) season with out michael scott i enjoyed last night's episode. better than expected. i think the show is going to have to get completely awful for me to bail on it. i really dont see it going below "mildly amusing." it would have to take a large actor exodus for me to sour on it. i think jim and dwight are actually more crucial than michael scott for example i think the choice of andy is manager and james spader as CEO was a good move. andy is the next biggest idiot after michael, so i support it.
It's just not the same. They completely wrote off Jo Bennett's character (I get why, but still), and Steve Carell's presence is most definitely missing. I came away somewhat disappointed. It was okay, but it's clearly not the same show it was 3 or 4 years ago.
i love michael yelling "3!" as he shoots. a) there is no 3 point line, b) if there was he would be very short of it and c) he was missing wildly. i think that episode is exactly what the show is about.
I liked the first episode, thought it was pretty funny. And they'll definitely get a 9th season, still NBC's highest rated sitcom. Parks & Recreation is probably funnier now though. I think they have the best supporting cast on TV, the secondary characters are great. It's kind of like The Simpsons in that I still want to watch even the weaker episodes.
I enjoyed it, even though I was sad to see Michael go. I echo a sentiment similar to many, in that I still find it funny (even if not as funny) and will continue watching it much like I do with the Simpsons.
I thought it was funny. It sucks not having Steve Carrell, but James Spader is hysterical IMO. I'll watch until it's bye bye.
I enjoyed the first two episodes and think the choice made by making Andy the regional manager was a good one. I think that the show feels a little fresh compared the past few seasons where it was getting tough to watch the show (well, set my schedule to make sure I watch it every Thursday). I don't think it'll ever be as good as the first three to four seasons (but the first couple seasons of every show is usually the best anyway) but it'll still be better than most of the stuff that's out there. I believe some people are going to be too hung up on The Office without Michael Scott that they will find reasons not to enjoy it. Not saying any of you will be (or are currently) like that, but it is something I have noticed from a few of my friends from around here. Let's just be happy they don't appear to be following the same season eight road that the series That 70's Show took.... when Eric Foreman left the cast.
Well Josh Meyers was a terrible actor and not funny at all so that kind of ruined that show. If Bret Harrison stayed I think season 8 could have been a little enjoyable. But I did enjoy the first two episodes! I like Helms
Randy was Josh Myers, Seth Myers brother, and Charlie was Harrison, the guy who fell off the water tower and died
