No way in hell. That is how you stop being successful. I'm all for loyalty but not at the expense of the team long term.

SO Melo would rather never play for a title than win two and lose two? He would be an idiot.

Even from a fan perspective Lebron was right that the Dallas loss hurt way more. I still believe we were the better team that year and blew the series. This year we didn't play well at all and didn't deserve it in the end.

He hasn't thought about FA yet and will make that decision when it comes, everyone is fishing for answers but he wont give them. <--he said that last part

Dallas loss hurt way more, this one still hurts but he is glad that in his 11 years he has been able to play for five titles.

You can't win them all, even though you want to. Mostly standard stuff.

Wade was there too "We didn't sign to be teammates for just four years. We signed to play together and see where it goes"

He did say that his family loves living in Miami (cant remember if he said his kids or wife specifically after that)

So there is that. He was obviously upset they lost and wasn't ready to announce any sort of decision.

Really didn't think the big-3 Heat would get whipped like that in a seven game series. I mean they were dominated by Finals standards. On to the off-season drawing board I suppose.

    Some dates;
So it looks like the big 3 will opt out sometime this month.
    Draft is on 26th June
1 July is when players negotiate contracts
8 July is when teams can officially sign

FA is coming fast and furious.

Jordan's famous shot was the 1989 shot against the Cavs. They call it, "The Shot." Not a pushoff ;)

Heat fans are overlooking the loooooong pause LeBron had when asked if he felt the same about "never leaving Miami" like he did in February. After the pause, he then gave an answer akin to saying he wasn't ready to say anything.

Coming right off of a beatdown and very sobering loss in a The Finals, I am sure he is pretty emotional and maybe his mind is going elsewhere, but jeez, that didn't sound good.

Clearly the key to those championship teams was Joel Anthony's pick-n-roll defense.

Thanks for four great years full of memories Mr. James, Wade, Bosh, UD, Chalmers, and JJ.
Thank you Battier, Andersen, Cole, and absentees Mike Miller, Joel Anthony for three great years of crucial energy off the bench.
Thank you Mr. Allen for your hall-of-fame worthy contributions through the past couple years.

Thank you all for your sacrifices.

Thank you Mr. Spoelstra, and Mr. Riley for helping put together something as special as what we had the privilege of witnessing through the past few years).

Hes not going to Miami. Book that. No way hes leaving minimum 80-90M on the table. Just not going to happen and I question the economic feasibility of it. Melo can opt in and make 23.3M next year and then get 5/129 the next year for a total of 6/152. You think hes going to sign at 4/58?

I know Chicago is still a chance (why, i dont know). I know Houston wants him but I dont think they can get it done. I think the Bulls have a chance and believe it or not, I think the Lakers have a chance. Melo/Kobe/Pau would be a good start. Needs one more piece, probably a good defensive C (Tyson?) and a PG who can defend...

I would re-watch that exchange again. He clearly was uncomfortable answering that question, which means he has, at least, a thought in his head of leaving (where to, I have no idea as I can't, personally, see a better scenario for him than his current to one). It was a fairly long pregnant pause, with body language that was...anguished, I suppose would be the correct word. And again, when he finally got to sort of answering the direct question, he deferred.

The part about him saying he hasn't thought about it is BS in my opinion. He has clearly thought about it. All athletes think about this stuff.

Even with Chalmers on the floor this team doesn't run with a true PG.

I am well aware of this but how does adding Melo fix this problem? So now no true point guard and you are going to add a another guy that demands and needs the ball?

Lebron is the defacto PG offensively. The bigger problem would be who guards the opposing PG defendively.

Melo works because he is actually a great great great shooter who works in our spacing offense.

Melo or no Melo I'd expect us to either resign Chalmers for pennies as he killed his value or sign a sparkplug vet with some offensive game to keep rotating with Cole.

Guy just lost the Finals. Guy gets asked the exact same question he's been asked for 16 months. Your conclusion is that he's leaving, based on a pause--which was pretty obviously a "I'm getting asked this? Again? Right now? Really?" pause.

    Come on.

It's a combination of his pause, body language, and the way this roster just got their sh-t pushed in while LeBron was out there seemingly by himself. It looked like an old Cleveland series.

How many guys on this roster can you count on for good long minutes in 2-3 years? The answer is LeBron and Bosh. That's it. No proven PG, no proven big man, no proven/young backup at Lebron's position to spell him, no good young role players. Unless you've seen amazing things from developmental guys who haven't actually played yet...at the moment the Heat don't look well-built for the future. Luckily, and what may contribute here, the Eastern Conference is straight awful, so the Heat could stay together and basically cakewalk to the Finals without being challenged (like this year).

I think he'll end up staying, in the end. But the way the Spurs ran them out of the gym this series could've been sitting pretty heavy in his mind last night.

What the critics always just skip is the fact that the Heat will make roster changes over the summer and the next few years. The choice is not "come back with the exact same 15 guys" or "go somewhere else"

We will figure something out. We always knew that the mix around the Big 3 was going to be a situation forever in flux. Now, the mix will change. But the notion that what you saw from this series means the Heat is done as a contender moving forward is dumb.

We ran up against a great team that was a particularly bad matchup for us. If we were playing OKC of the Clippers we might have the trophy right now. We didn't, so be it.
