Great article on Wade's free agency and making the compelling argument that we're better off having Wade opt in the next two years, rather than signing him to an extension, even a below market one.

Essentially the thrust is that unless you can truly get Anthony and the only way to do that is to get all 3 to take substantially less, then you are better off just using the MLE and maintaining cap space for the 2016 off season.

Right now the Heat is at $0 (yes, ZERO) salary after the 2015 season, though with us likely using and keeping some of our draft picks we will have some money allocated. And that year beyond our own guys, Dwight Howard, Kevin Love and Kevin Durant (among others are scheduled to be free agents). And that's also the first year of the new TV deal, which could push the cap close to $80 million per team. We're better positioned right now for 2016 then we were for 2010.

Obviously you resign LBJ to a max, or near max deal for 5 years if you can, but otherwise, just continue to tweak the roster just like we've done the last 4 years. We'll still be favorites to get to the Finals and have a good chance of winning at least one of the next two. Then tell LBJ that he can hand pick an entirely new team in 2016.

You're killing me. The wait this offseason looks like it's going to be brutal unless these guys commit one way or the other early on. With Riley in charge it's not like they'll end up as a lottery team, but they could either be title favorites once again or also-rans in 2014 depending on what the big 3 decides. And then even if all 3 come back, this team needs to make some moves and get better. This is getting me so nervous, I'm now coming to this site almost strictly for Heat news bypassing any Dolphins stuff.

Interesting article. The one player I think I'd like most is Kyle Lowry. I like his on ball D (although I don't know about his pick and roll D), his passing and his 3 pt shooting. I see an upgrade at PG as one of the keys to improving next season. I think he's a better fit than Anthony. Of course, I have no idea how much Lowry wants. He's never had that big contract and he certainly could get more from some other team.
