Well..he will be amnestied. so he will be exposed to the waiver wire. I think he gets claimed by a team that needs to get closer to the cap threshold.

If he clears...then I still think he gets somebody's full Mini-MLE.

Is he a Heat player? Yes. But he doesn't really fit as of now. The Heat have an abundance of SF's, but he could make sense as a piece for the 14'-15' season, when they clear a couple more roster spots.

    As for History:

Pat Riley once got into it good with Ron Artest during a game, and Keith Askins looked him up.

I can tell you what the regular sports TV viewer IN MIAMI is interested in.

I am privy to minute per minute ratings and focus groups that show what the local Sports TV viewer wants.

In order it's: General NFL, Heat Talk, General NBA, Dolphins Talk.

Haha I didn't mean it as an insult - I totally understand the shift, I just find them interesting.

For example - even after the Patriots won all those SBs and looked dominant for so long - that's still more of a baseball / basketball town, right?

It's interesting to look at which team/sport dominates a city and if it is due to success or just interest in the sport in general.

Yeah I was just thinking about that in the last game. The damn summer league team has played all three games with the same brutal defensive mentality. Seems like that's kind of the Heat's identity, brutal defense leading to transition points, and if they have to be patient for the half court offense to round into form, they'll live with that. Or am I wrong?

    well..we produce our show accordingly.

If you are asking me about ratings...we do well. We beat some CBS Sports Network and NBC Sports Network shows that have 5 times our budget. and Yes..we do beat some ESPN shows as well.

Nope. Your graphics cost money. Our show doesn't believe in spending money.

Everybody just loved them..and admired them as they refused to pay the animation department to do it.

Yeah I'm certainly not ever going to be an X's and O's guy when it comes to basketball. Ten years of paying attention and that stuff still hasn't stuck with me. Best I can do is evaluate athletic ability (because that comes natural across multiple sports) and recognize when a basketball team plays good defense, lol.

there was a play that got some twitter observers hot over Ian Clark..where he hedged to close the lane on a driver..then bounced to take away a passing lane, and then when the pass got made to the corner..he was right there to close out the shooter. This is not common. Not at all.

This matters a lot and is why the success leads to the shift in following. You treat your players with respect and they will want to play for your city. It because an emotional attachment and it's not all about money. The Riley/Spo combo is a good combo chemistry wise. You treat Wade, your star, with respect. You treat your former players like Alonzo and Hardaway with respect by offering jobs within the organization or by financial assistance. You keep your relationships with long time players like Haslem. It's a Heat for life mentality. Lebron and Bosh sees that and figures they can be a part of the team long term beyond basketball. Heck players took discounts to play for you. This is what The Dolphins need to learn. You can't pump and dump someone like a one night stand. IMO they don't treat players like JT and Zach with the respect they deserve. The Dolphins need to change their culture to be more consistent with the Heat. This is also why I believe LBJ and Bosh will continue to remain with the Heat until retirement. They see the Heat's track record of assisting former players after basketball as something important to them.

Does that increase our (Heat) chance of landing Oden? I havent heard much on that front lately.

Not our problem anymore. I would have liked to see what last year's team would have been with Bynum, but we all know how that worked out. That move essentially set the Sixers back a few years after all the gave up in the trade to go along with what they did on draft night. I'd like to hope within the next few years (2-3) they will be back to being a respectable team.

One more thing, **** you Andrew Bynum!!

    Alright, I'm good.

I think the Heat made themselves clear to Oden and I don;t think he is receptive.

They asked him to prove himself healthy by showing up to camp. He hasn't. He won;t take a one year incentive deal.

So basically we've made our offer and it is on him to find a better one at this point. It would be nice if he ever became what he was supposed to be. Not even just for us, for a league lacking in dominant big men.

I felt like he was right on the verge of doing that before the last injury that put him out for so long. He started off red hot that year til the leg started barking and ended up being a season ender.

It really is kind of sad. I actually wanted him to succeed. I mean who are the most dominant big men in the NBA right now offensively? Howard is kind of a toss up at this point IMO as to whether or not he improved further. Bynum can't take the floor because he's always injured. He's probably just a decent starter in most generations anyway IMO. Roy Hibbert can change a game if he doesn't foul like a mad man but is offensively inconsistent. There are plenty of strong defensive big men still and some decent overall players down low but no real game changers at the moment.

Of course that is all just my random rant on big men today.

I think you may have overlooked the answer to the question and that is Marc Gasol. This years DPOY is very capable offensively but defers often to Z-Bo and Conley. He has range, post moves, is efficient, rebounds, blocks shots and is all around solid.

Wow...Im not sure how I feel about this....Say what you will about Stephen A Smith but he called the Miami three teaming up long before it happened. This was on ESPN's First Take and whether both players opt out next year will tell you a lot of whats going to happen.

Stephen A basically said Lebron views playing with Melo like playing with Wade. Something he always wanted to do.

When Melo lived in his mansion in Littleton, Colorado, he had a picture of Lebron and his family in his living room. Lebron apparently had Melo's family pic in his place in Cleveland. These guys have always wanted to play together.

Whether it will happen in NY or Miami I dont know but Im also not dismissing LAL if both opt out next year.

Good lord, shoot me now. Im not going through this crap again. Im not even sure how I feel about Lebron being a Knick if it were to happen after he helped my most hated team win 2 chips. But ill say this...Melo next to Lebron would be lethal. Melo working the mid-range game, Lebron running a layup line. Cant happen til 15 unless the Knicks or Heat have something unique in mind....

He already plays with Wade. In Miami he could play with both at the same time. New York would basically be giving up on Wade IMO which hell maybe it happens if he can't stay healthy. I am not inside Lebrons head.

I have a hard time seeing him leaving if he wins another title here.
