Yes, you cant take yourself out of that lineup in the Series, you cant.....if his ribs were cracked etc I can see it, but the tests came back negative? You cant.....

You swing a baseball bat with your core. I've never had his injury. But even without cracked ribs, I can't imagine the pain to swing a bat with something like that. If he can't swing it regular, he might be more of a detriment then a help.

It is pain tolerance, him at 75% is better than who Jay? Robinson?

I don't think that's true in this case. It's like if Tannehill has a hurt shoulder. But it's not torn, broken or cracked.

This is the direct effect in his swing. You can't swing a baseball bat 75% and expect to have a chance.

If this was an ankle, bicep, tricep, shoulder, hand, anything like those, I'd agree 100%. But it's not.

I will say this however. If he DHs. Then I agree with you. If he can swing it and feel like he can help his team. This he can play the field.

In today's game there are ways to mask pain.....do it and get out there....Schilling, Favre etc.....

I agree with the core argument, but baseball is a game of inches, you can flair hits around the ballpark, hell sometimes you are better off not hitting the ball as squarely in baseball. RT is totally different......the qb uses his arm as much if not more than his core and pivot....

I was actually thinking that they could DH him.....sometimes playing the filed makes it worse too, in any event that RF wall is a bad mofo in Fenway....

I don't agree Tannys or a pitchers for instance, shoulder is more important to the throw, then core is to the swing.

If he DHs. Then he takes Matt Adams or Craig out of the lineup. That's a mistake. He's not a better hitter then those two, with an very painful core.

Did you see Hanley at the plate with his injury? Even though his was broken. I think it's pretty much the same. You take an injury like that and times it by 100 when you use it the way you have to when swinging a bat.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the "vaseline" scandel. AKA a normal night at Finyanks. ;)

Did you see Bergeron in the playoffs last year with actual medically test positive injuries far worse than Beltran's? Granted they lost, but still he was in there.....They use their core as well.....very similiar.....

Again it comes down to pain tolerance and how much you can mask it and deal with it.....

All I am saying is he has to try it, if it is a no-go adjust fire, it is easier to tinker a lineup in an AL park then a NL one.....

Holliday is pretty good, ditto for Allen and Carpenter. Don't let one game fool you, the Cardinals are a good baseball team. They absolutely deserve to be in the WS and can hang with the big boys in the AL.

Regarding the Lester glove stuff. Cardinal GM came out and said it's a non issue and the FO will be talking to the Cards minor leaguer who tweeted the accusation. And now that Cards' minor league player has deleted the original tweet about Lester. Interesting.

Ultimately I know that, I was busting some balls....but teams do play different in Fenway Park because it is Disneyland....It is a magical kinda place, you see things there you rarely see elsewhere....like 2 errors and a dropped pop-up by the 2 inning .....

I kind of figured you were a Sox fan because of a few posts you made since the playoffs started. Hope you post in these threads more, can nothing have enough Sox talk.

And my post wasn't in response to anyone's posts about Lester in this thread, I was just scanning Twitter and mentioned that stuff with the Cardinals, GM and player and thought it should be passed on.

alot of people give me crap because i dont talk much during the regular season.. i dont have cable so and I live in NC so its' rare that i can catch a game. I rely on scores and headlines and that about it.

The playoffs I can watch over the air on fox, so i actually get to watch those games. Same with the stanley cup playoffs this year. The pats, well, 9/10 they are on CBS or Fox here anyway. I might have to go out to watch 5 games a year. If I had to go out to watch 150 red sox games a year, i would be broke. ;)

Sure as hell seems like it. Apparently it's something called Bullfrog sunscreen or something like that that pitchers use to get a better grip on the ball but it's not suppose to make the ball move or drop any differently. It's pretty commonly used around baseball and accepted by the players. If I were to guess I'd say a few of the Cardinal pitchers probably use it as well hence why the GM is speaking out about it. You'll notice the people that have spoken out about it have all been minor league players or former MLB pitchers, you don't see any current MLB players talking about it.

Pitchers mix bullfrog and resin and it is turns into almost like a paste....and it is widely used in baseball....perfectly legal....

I don't know if I'd say it's perfectly legal but it does seem like it's perfectly acceptable. Again if its only use is a better grip and it doesn't make the ball dance or move any different who cares? And according to Brooks Baseball who tracks ball movement etc, nothing seemed to show that Lester's pitches moved any differently.

Well it isn't illegal by law AND MLB rules says you can use it so......are you saying from like a purist POV?

I think actually Bucholz actually invented it.....not sure though...

I'm pretty sure it's in the rule book that you can't use a non rosin foreign substance, otherwise why bother to hide it or why would there even be an outcry over it.

And no Buchholz didn't invent it, this has been going on since the beginning of (baseball) time.

Yeah I'm officially nervous for Game 4 now. I don't think you can realistically expect anything from Buchholz. Too bad Doubront hasn't started a game in a month he'd be a perfect replacement especially with the Cards' issues with LHPers.
