We'll see. He stayed in the middle of the plate a lot. He needs to locate better or he'll start getting hit. But damn does he have good stuff.
Heath Bell is playing 500% better than he did since his first 1/3 inning. ERA all the way down to 15.43.
I texted him tonight. He said he will be fine. He just has to keep his pace, whatever that means lol.
I just asked this question in the Met thread but I figured I'd ask it here to: if you were the Marlins would you trade Stanton to the Mets for Travis d'Arnaud and Zack Wheeler?
Going to the game sat night. First time to new stadium. Ill get my choice to whatever seat I want it looks like lol Seriously ill be right field bullpen. Thinking of making a sign that says "retractable roof stadium. Retractable salary ownership" Look for me
Olt, Profar, etc. D'arnaud and Wheeler are cool, but they don't help us as much organizationally as the potential Texas package does. Our catcher Brantly is probably at least good enough to be a platoon/bench bat, and while Wheeler is great, we have more than a few young arms who could be something. Meanwhile, we need IFers in the worst way. The only two IF prospects we have that are worth a damn are Zach Cox (who's a bench player if he's lucky) and Derek Dietrich whom I like.
Gotcha and figure. Obviously that package would be much better than the Wheeler/d'Arnaud one. St. Louis also has a ton of prospects but I couldn't see them giving up Taveras for Stanton, wouldn't make much sense on their part. I also think Martin Perez's prospect status has taken somewhat of a hit so perhaps you could have two of the last three names.
Yea I think I need to update my list. This was based off last year. I would mainly want Olt, Profar and Buckel. I would have to look at their prospect list to see for the last prospect or two.
Have fun! Too bad you didn't get to go last season. The stadium is really nice. The viewing angles from the seats are great - too bad nobody goes though.
Thanks bro. When I lived in west palm me and my buds used to go to about 30/40 games a year (fish tank!!) we are pumped to see Fernandez pitch his 2nd start!! Hooters at the hardrock after haha
Somehow I missed this. Say whatever you want about the team, they're absolute garbage. But that stadium is great. If you don't mind throwing money around, try a shrimp burger. If you're giving Loria the financial finger, then at least try a pan con lechon.
I can't see any hope for this roster. Not even in coming seasons. Do these players do anything well? At least we'll get something back for Stanton when he's sent off to LA or Texas. A bag of Lay's is better than nothing.
They're pretty good defenders. Some of them. Well, Hech, Ruge and Polanco, anyway. Our best bet is to trade Stanton for Olt-Profar plus. And then hope they work out. And then you hope Yelich and Marisnick work out. My hopeful 2014 lineup looks like: LF Yelich SS Profar RF Ruge 3B Olt 1B Lomo CF Marisnick C Brantly 2B Hech This lineup is much better than what we have right now, but it's also probably one of the best defensive teams in baseball. We'll have plus defenders everywhere but 1B and C, and they're at least average. Of course most Marlins fans are much higher on Brantly then I am, but what can you do? Probably not a whole lot of better (realistic) options out there. Then we'll have to find 5 starters somewhere. We'll pencil in Fernandez for now. Then you need to find 4 more SP between Turner, Eovaldi, Alvarez, Heaney, Conley, whoever we get from Texas etc, etc. It's likely next years rotation will be Fernandez and a bunch of #4 starters but that's better than what we have this year (Just wait until we stop pitching over our heads. There's going to be so much blood.). This is basically my dream scenario. This team is still probably a bad team, but everyone has really high upside so that's something. A good ownership/front office group (not Loria) would be able to take this core and add to it, replace the prospects that don't make it, and turn this team into a perennial contender with so little payroll on the books. Oh well.
He's gone. Damn shame too. Our only legit baller wants to get out of dodge ASAP, because he sure as hell ain't re-signing.
You can bet your *** Bozo the Art Clown will trade that bag of Lay's as soon as he learns we're fond of it.
