The good thing about their schedule is they have to play the teams they are chasing...so if they want to make the playoffs it is right there for them....go play .800 ball....
Yeah it's not impossible they can make the playoffs. They have 10 games left about the Sox, 6 against the O's and 7 against TB. The killer part of their schedule is end of the 1st week/2nd week of Sept where they play the Sox for 4 at home, Baltimore for 4 on the road and the Sox for 3 on the road without any day off. That's probably going to be their make or break week.
It's probably because I wasn't alive for the Dent HR but the Aaron Boone HR bothers me a lot more. Being 1 game away from the WS and losing the lead in the 8th, followed by Boone's HR, which seems like it was his only hit as a Yankee ever, still bugs me to this day.
Haha. Seriously question do you think the 2003 Marlins would have beaten the 2003 Red Sox if they met in the WS?
Such a good question....I am honestly not sure....Miggy was on that team, but was just starting off and didn't play much....
I have no idea. I liked this result though. Wasn't that Sox offense one of the best in recent history? He played every day.
only flaw in a perfect show. Yes I am bias, even with its flaws and questionable ending, LOST is still one of my favorite shows.
Yeah the Sox offense are crazy good that year and everyone was healthy for the most part in October. Obviously small sample size, but that was the year where the Sox took 2 out of 3 from the Marlins at Fenway and beat them something like 28 to 5, where Johnny Damon batted 3 times in the top of the 1st, they scored like 12 or 13 runs that inning alone. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BOS200306270.shtml Turns out it was 23 to 8. It would have been interesting to see if they could've/would've beaten either the Marlins or Cubs. I wonder how badly Fox and the MLB front office wanted that Sox/Cubs WS that year.
Not to turn this into a Lost debate but I kind of wish the series ended with the first flash forward episode. The first 2 season were incredible and then it just fell on its face. I recently read a book about iconic TV shows and how they were made and some of the decisions behind the scenes etc. Lost was in one of the chapters and they writers/creators finally admitted they never had any idea where the show was headed and didn't plan things through, just went episode to episode. That I think was their main mistake, that and asking too many questions with giving too little answers. You'd actually like the book JT because it talks about 24 and Breaking Bad. Also The Shield, The Wire and Sopranos, not sure if you have seen those shows but if not you should. It's called: "The Revolution Was Televised: The Cops, Crooks, Slingers, and Slayers Who Changed TV Drama Forever" by Alan Sepinwall. You can get it for cheap on Amazon.
From the very beginning. He was a 20 year old in AA. If he wasn't going to play everyday, they would have kept him down.
He didnt from the beginning, he wasnt on the Opening Day roster.....he played 87 games in the majors that year....got just under 350 ABs....that puts it around what June?
I remember McKeon (assuming he was even the manager at that point but I'm pretty sure he was) getting pretty pissed off after that game thinking the Sox should have gone easy on them after the 1st inning or something like that. I believe McKeon credited that game with the turn around of the team saying they used that as motivation.
I thought you meant he was a bench player. Yeah, he was a late June call up We finished 51-30 after that game.
There's a report going around from 60 Minutes that someone in Arod's camp leaked the Biogensis info linking Braun and Frankie Cervelli to it.
We are on our way back! We are actually playing good ball. Soriano is a huge part of that. We are finally hitting, Arod is hitting the ball good too. We need to keep this up. Just need to win series. just win series. If we can win both this and Tampa series that will be big!
I think he was saying that at Dempster too....which still I gotta say Girardi still looks like he can mix it up. Lol
I am seriously sitting here laughing at this loop over and over again of Girardi calling Dempster a pu'sy.....
I'm laughing at the fact now the team is fired up and they are defending Arod. Way to wake the sleeping lion Dempster bravo!
Red Sox got what they deserved. Lit the Yanks up big time, got the team behind Arod. Arod got redemption and got the last laugh. Love it. I loved everything about tonight game. Most satisfying win of the season!
Incredibly dumb of Dempster to throw at Arod. Really don't understand the point there. And it might have cost them the game. I think it's kind of crazy he didn't get bounced out of the game as it was obvious he was trying to hit him and judging by his pitching performance it wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world if that happened. Still don't really understand it as it wasn't Dempster's fight. Serious question though did any Yankee players come out onto the field after he was hit? The video feed just shows the Red Sox players and bullpen out there and a bunch of Yankees standing on the top steps. I kind of found that interesting.
