Arod has been great. The main thing I've noticed is he's getting clutch hits, when we really need them

Been away for awhile, have some "things" in the works...but Yanks playing ok, sucks about Hughes NEVER being able to get it together, thanks buddy!!! You just cost the team a draft pick....

Also I have no clue how for the love of God that Tampa goes into such funks with that pitching staff...

Moore has been hurt. Hellickson has been awful. Bullpen has been pretty bad. And most of the entire offense has slumped. I told somebody yesterday, I thought Moore coming back could re-engergize them(hopefully). Its only one game, but Vargas dominated us his last time out. And we shelled him this time. I can only hope this is the turn around.

If you take away the Rays' insane July where they were what 21 and 5, they have basically been a .500 team the whole year.

The reason why they go into funks is because their offense is spotty so they've been losing a lot of 1 run ball games recently. They did have periods during the season without Price, Cobb and Moore but they really do miss James Shields this year, like I said they would. TB just doesn't have the SPing durablity it had the past few years. Guys like Hellickson, Roberto Hernandez and Jake Ordorizzi haven't been very good filling in.

They're still a good team and I still think they will make the playoffs but I'd be a little nervous if I were a TB fan right now with the Yankees, Orioles and even the Indians closing in.

Again, I think the Yankees season is this coming week with 4 vs. Boston, 4 vs. Baltimore and 3 vs. Boston because their schedule is very light minus 3 games vs. TB. If they can survive that 11 game period they might just pull it off.

They have to do more than survive, they have to come out on top with a winning record....

Yeah they probably have to do better than a 6-5 record (which is probably a fair prediction considering the opponents and the two 4 game series) considering TB plays LAA for 1, Seattle for 3, Boston for 3 and the Twins for 3 during that time.

Love Sheilds, and obviously with the injuries we could of used him. But I certainly don't think we "missed" James in that sense. If we stay healthy, we don't miss him much.

Great. They flew me out to Colorado, where I am currently, to work further with Mike Bardo's hitting academy. Ill be here until Sunday night. Most west I have even been was Panama City, FL. LOL.

So it is a great experience, and the academy here is amazing. It is great seeing people so passionate like me about the game.

Missing Shields in the sense that you knew he was going to give the rotation 30 plus starts and 200 plus innings that wouldn't have went to Roberto Hernandez, Jake Odorizzi and even Jeremy Hellickson.

No denying that. I was always a fan of the trade, my point always was that it weakened TB's overall pitching.

Hellickson was a very good pitcher for over 2 years prior to this season. Whether Shields was here or not, Hellickson would have the same amount of starts.

Now for Hernandez or Odorizzi, I 100% agree. However, if we are 100% healthy this year, neither guy ever sees the field. Carmona wasn't very good, but he wasn't awful. If you told MLB managers that they would have a injuries to their staff that required a plug in to pitch 150 innings through September and perform the way Hernandez has, I don't think most of them would be angry with that.

Probably the most underrated and important aspects of the Rays success from 2008 to 2012 has been the health of the starting rotation, as the starting 5 projected started 153, 138, 154, 148, 149 games in those years.

If Shields was still in TB it's not a given Hellickson would have still been in the rotation though after pitching so poorly. He could have easily been replaced by Archer, assuming Price, Moore and Cobb stayed healthy. You're right Hernandez hasn't been awful, he's been serviceble as the 5th starter.

Maybe not a given, but I don't see how they wouldn't give him every opportunity. If Niemann pitched the way he did the year before for us, Archer may not have even gotten a shot to take Hellickson's spot. Niemann is a guy that he could of taken rather easily.

Yeah you never know really. Perhaps nothing would have changed. Or maybe if they felt Archer was a better option they would have went to him and yanked Hellickson out even sooner.

Brett "The Hitman" Gardner! Yanks now 25-1 to win the Series. Should have took them at 40-1 when I had the chance.

Regardless if Yankees go anywhere this year, I am just glad they are giving me a reason to watch. I was almost done with them when they couldnt hold on to a lead. Beating Toronto and Chicago is cool and all but the real test is coming up when Boston comes to town! But one game at a time and lets win this one!

After time to think about it, it still stings. This loss is a loss that stays with you like a NFL sunday loss. But in reality, we are still 2.5 games up, lost no ground on the Wild Card, could of gained a game though, and on the division. Got to forget about this loss and continue playing they way they have been playing

In a lot of ways I think it is better to battle for a playoff slot then it is to go on cruise control like the Braves are on atm.

Just think it's better if a team has to fight for a slot, it sharpens the team imo.

I do wonder, in terms of the psyche of the team, if it would have been better to have lost 7-2 then to come back like that only to have Rivera blow the save and then lose in extra innings.

You're kidding right? They will come out for your throats tonight. It's a game they felt they blew. They don't feel you beAt them. When that happens you come out focused and ready to play the next night.

Girardi said no Rivera (had worked 3 days in a row) or Robertson (2 days) tonight. Will be extremely interesting to see who closes tonight, if that opportunity comes up. Joba Rules time?

Robertson is going to be out 5-6 days with a sore shoulder. Logan getting an MRI. The Yankee pen, which has been good all year, is suddenly getting thin quickly.

The Yankees are lucky that TB lost too however at this point in the season the Yankees can't afford to simply keep ground. Baltimore and Cleveland jumped passed them by a half game now.
