Texas is in a freefall. I don't think we have to sweep tampa if we sweep the astros which I'm cautiously optimistic about. We do have to win every series between toronto, tampa and houston though.

Like I said in my previous post with Texas and TB playing each other for 4 games this week as long as these WC contenders win they will gain a game on one of the teams no matter what. Imagine if both Texas and TB don't make the playoffs this year?

Seriously watch out for Cleveland, they have the easiest schedule out of anyone the rest of the year.

good luck winning tomorrow. We have a pitcher pitching who hasnt won since August. Its sad that RA Dickey had 50 pitches in the 2nd inning and he still gets a shut out victory against us

Haha I love Sterling, for pure entertainment standpoint. With the move to WFAN you wonder if they will get a new announce team, although since Sterling has been there forever I doubt they would dump him even though they should. Suzyn brings nothing to the table either but she has history with FAN so I would be surprised if they dump her either, plus if they did you know she'd play the female card. You'd think a team like the Yankees wouldn't have a bunch of jokers announcing their games.

Seriously, Sterling blows at least 10 to 15 calls like this a year. This is nothing new, just so happens that it was last night.

I've heard him call a home run when the 2nd baseman caught it in shallow RF, no joke.

I mean he ranged back a little, but no it was Rajai Davis who caught effortlessly, Sterling thought he gave up on it lol...

You obviously don't remember phil rizzuto
"He hits it long, it's deep...........and the third baseman makes the catch. One out."

The Red Sox tried to get Metallica to play Enter Sandman at Fenway Park on Sunday for Rivera but they were unavailable. Really hope the Yankees are able to bring them in for Mo's (maybe) last home game.

And I still say if for some reason the Yankees are officially eliminated before the Yankees last home game that Rivera should pitch that night and then sit out the 3 games in Houston so his last official game is at YS, kind of like what Ted Williams did.

But Rizzuto was used to give you recipes during the game....and would leave in the 8th inning to get over the bridge....

    Plus he was Italian.....

    You huckleberry

I remember I went to phil rizzuto day at the old stadium and they honered him before the game. They had a cow there for his trademark "holy cow" line. Phil went over to pet the cow and the cow moved and knocked him over. Man, we were laughing till the 5th inning over that one

Yeah, not sure what Metallica's schedule is, if they're even touring but I'm sure the Yankees will at least reach out to them to see if they can bring them over. I wonder what Metallica's fee would be to play Enter Sandman.

Mo Mo Mo... scaring the **** out of me. Poorly executed bunt by the Blue Jays with a guy on 1st and 2nd with 0 outs. Also Yankee fans, Mo is on the cover of SI this week, might be a cool item to pick up! I am going to pick myself up a couple! Hitting came up clutch today. Cleveland lost, which is good. Balt won which is not

I knew it was coming, but too bad....he had a good year.....and I am going to say he has one more start in him so put his innings at 175 there around....he was their best pitcher this year which is sad.....

Yeah I think it's probably safe to say, barring a miracle, the Yankees are done this year. With 8 or 9 games left you simply can't afford to lose a series now, especially when so many teams are ahead of you in the standings. Give the Yankees credit, for even being in the race this long with all the injuries.

Yeah outside of a rough patch in the middle of the year Pettitte had a good season.

With Pettitte possibly retiring next year you're looking at a rotation right now of Sabathia and Nova right now. The Yankees will need to do a lot in the offseason to patch up the rotation. You would think resigning Kuroda would be a no brainer but he's going to be what 40 next year and this is the 2nd straight year where he's been gassed come mid August. You wonder what the Yankees will do. As I don't think you can count on Pineda to give you much, if at all, next year and what depth do they have in the minors? Phelps and Warren? Yikes.

Right now the Yankees have the 15th best record in baseball. Its impossible for them to get a top 10 protected pick. Realistically they'll be the 15th to 18th team pick wise in the draft.

which is fine....obviously who wouldn't like a Top 10 pick but something between 15-18 is good....SHOULD get a solid player but then again with the lobheads they have drafting who knows...

Oh yeah they are pretty screwed....me?

I offer Kuroda....if he takes it fine you get him on a 1 yr deal for less than you paid for him this year....if he goes to Japan or retires at least you tried....but he did have a good enough year where (stupid) teams could offer him a 1 yr deal at 15-18 million...

What I am saying is if Kuroda pitches next year not for the Yanks in MLB and the Yanks dont have a draft pick out of it, bad GM'ing....

the rest of the staff is in trouble, but we knew this Fink....we said that THIS year would be the last year they actually compete, but starting in 14 they are going to be in real trouble.....

Pettite pitched a lot better then his record showed. I am going to miss him but its time. Sad to see him and Mo pitch their last games in a yankee uniform but its time to move on.

See with Kuroda, I think it's going to be the Yankees or nothing. I can't see any MLB team, even with a protected pick, giving up a draft pick for a 40 year old pitcher who's shown he can't last the whole season. Teams passed on Kyle Lohse last year, not saying Lohse is even on the same talent level of Kuroda, but he was younger and they'd get him on a multi-year deal for fear of losing a pick. Which is a reason why I'm not sure the Yankees will offer Hughes a QO for fear he says yes because there won't be a market for him, remember at the trade deadline the Yankees got reportedly no calls for Hughes.

You're right though, this could be the swan song for the Yankees for awhile with Rivera and Pettitte leaving and Jeter on his last leg (pun intended) and all those older players with big contracts and seemingly no talent in the minors it could be an ugly few years in the Bronx. Of course it all depends on the moves they make this offseason.

Exactly what the Yankees need, often injuried player with a big contract. Plus who exactly do the Yankees have to offer up in a deal for either player?
