I was hoping 3-0 because best case scenario is they lose 4-0, best case, yanks won't be the only team to blow a 3-0 series lead
Chad Curtis..... http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2013/10/03/ex-mlb-player-chad-curtis-sentenced-to-7-15-years/2916893/
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/i...awyer-brawls-bosch-attorney-article-1.1485790 A-Rod has a gavone lawyer eh?
It is like the Dempster signing......it is garbage but what are you going to do, pickings are slim for players not tied to comp picks.....Who you like JJ? It is telling that Toronto who knows his medical stuff first hand did'nt even offer him.... Put that under something he doesn't have....
Dempster, at least, had more upside at the time of the signing. He was still striking guys out at a good clip and outside of a hand full of starts when he first came over to Texas actually did pitch well in the AL, and did pitch well for the Sox in the 1st half of the season before injuries caught up to him. At least with Arroyo you know he's got a rubber arm and will give you 200 innings, the problem is all of those HRs he's given up in the NL central since he's come over. He's basically a Phil Hughes clone with less strike out upside. I'd stay away if I were the Yankees. I don't like Johnson at all. I don't think he'll ever be healthy again. I think his health is part of the reason why they didn't give him a QO, the other is probably the 14 million they'd have to pay him with no guarantee he'll give them even 150 innings. I'd stay away from him too.
Vertucci was on WEEI this morning and thinks Cano is going to get a 6 or 7 year deal from the Yankees between 25 and 28 million due to the fact that the Yankees TV, radio and attendance is down, along with the Yankees offense, they just can't afford to lose him.
I think while it will suck to lose him, they cant do that deal...Cano isnt the draw in NY, he doesnt bring in the crowds...**** I would even venture to say they would see A-Rod moreso than Cano....to use your wrestling term, the ASG the yr he won the HR Derby gave him mega-pop, but still it never took off.... Just because you have the cash doesn't mean you spend it foolishly, that has what got them in the jaclpot they are in now....also if the Yanks dont give him that, where is he getting that monster deal from?? If he wants 25 and up it is for 5 years....Cashman better not blow this... lastly, going forward based on last year, the New York Yankees did just fine missing the playoffs with him as they will without him....
I think there are only a handful of pro baseball players that are "draws" and yeah Cano isn't one of them, but that shouldn't be the reason to sign or not to sign him. If the team plays well and starts winning fans will go to the games, it's that simple.
Yup I agree.....you keep hearing about they will lose fans..... No you won't....just win....did the Sox lose fans after last year? The bandwagon fans and pink hats will go just as soon as they come and vice versa...
Yeah the Sox did lose fans in 2013 but they certainly won't lose fans in 2014. It was kind of a strange year for the Sox in terms of fans/media coverage of the team. They were really overshadowed all year until the playoffs started by the other 3 pro sports teams. I think that certainly helped the team day to day not always having 100% attention on them with the high expectations.
I think they "lost" fans after the whole Bobby V. thing, but those fans are back after this year claiming they never left....the ticket prices and availability certainly didn't reflect otherwise....
Oh definitely but the reason why fans left was because they finished in last place and won what 60 something games in 2012? The availability of tickets was pre 2003. I remember getting good seats at face value on StubHub last year, if that was between 2003 and 2011, I would have played nearly 50 to 100 bucks over face for them.
Yes agreed the last place finish was to blame, all the stupid stories popping up where equally to blame ie chicken/beer gate etc....people up here aren't going to pay that kind of cash to watch that.....
But people wouldn't care about that side stuff if the team was winning. I've heard tons of stories about the 2004 team that was much worse than the chicken and beer but people wouldn't care about because they won. Just think about all the crap Manny did that was "Manny being Manny" because the team was winning. Imagine if Manny was on the team in 2012 and did that stuff? Winning changes everything.
Great story btw, and it echoes what I have been saying all along....... http://sports.yahoo.com/news/offer-york-yankees-refuse-164200028--mlb.html
Doesnt matter who's negotiating, Cano DOES NOT DESERVE 10 years. If some other team wants to handcuff themselves to that contract so be it.
Cano is an idiot. Stay with the yankees and become a legend. Be one of the Yankees greats. Come back for old timers day. Be a guy yankee fans can tell their grandkids about. Be in monument park. Choice is yours buddy
Magic Johnson better keep Ned Colletti locked up in a basement somewhere until Cano signs..... Although it's not like you can count out the Angels either from doing something stupid, as it is their streak is currently at 3 right now.
Here's an article about Levine testifying in the Arod case just for you FinYank: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/i...lls-yankee-president-levine-article-1.1522962
Sticking Price on Texas with Cano would be scary.... Who would be the ace Nappy you think? Him or Yu?
Well I would probably think Yu. And I'm not sure if that's even possible to get all those contracts. But what a team if they could.
