Unless he drastically lowers his demands screw Cano.

    Go After

    Infante

    Tananka

    Hart

    Nathan

And go after Headley if the price lowers.

    Done.

Why would the Yankees even need to budge? Cano's camp has set a starting price that nobody else in MLB is going to touch, regardless of how good a player Cano is. There should be tons of teams coming after him but as far as I can tell only the Yankees have talked to him seriously. They're going to have to lower what they're asking for [either in terms of money or years] significantly to get any interest at all from other teams. And with no interest from other teams the Yankees have all of the leverage. No MLB GM in his right mind is going to sign a player to a contract that has them paying him $31M when he's 40.

Yanks made a move I like...by not signing cano. Get trout in a few years, his asking price was to high and his years were to long.

I mean I get what he is saying but A) he is Robinson Cano, he wont have trouble finding a job when he is 36 unless he gets hurt....the Yankees showed him respected they offered him more money per year than Seattle deal, if you cant survive on what the Yanks offered it isn't the teams problem, but don't say they didn't show you respect. That is kinda a bunch of bull and a cop out. Just say it was about the money and the years, I would respect that. that leaving 3 years and over 65M on the table was too hard to give up.

Makes me kind of wonder moreso the players views of the FO.....although I guess he needs the cash to pay his son.....

I also hope he pays royalties to David Ortiz for literally coping his beard verbatim...

Reading into it they offered Choo right after Cano left, Choo said no so they went onto Beltran. Again thank God.

It doesnt seem we'll be in the hunt for Masahiro Tanaka but that's the guy I want. They say he has one of the best split fingered fastballs in the world and he's 25. And then there is this

Seriously not sure if that's good or bad news. As being good, knowledgeble play by play broadcasters they're awful but for pure entertainment value and hearing their awful calls over and over again being mocked they're priceless.

Still you'd think a franchise like the Yankees would have better radio announcers.

Singleton, Cone and Leiter actually do a nice job as the color guys.

Sterling loves having Waldman as his partner because he gets to call every inning of every game and knows she won't step on his toes. I can't stand her because she brings nothing to the table in terms of knowledge and when people rip her she plays the "they're only picking on me because I'm a woman" card which is completely wrong as they're picking on her because she's bad at her job.

I like leiter, too. It's always nice when ex ball players are your colory guys because they always have a great story or two to make things interesting and it's nice to hear Cone and Leiter talk about the mechanics of pitching.

Breaking news: Arod is suspended for 162 games, including post season.

Yankees save around $27.5 million for luxury tax purposes.

Arod said he will appeal decision to federal court.

Kind of a win/lose for the Yankees. They get rid of his salary for 1 year so they can sign some more players but their infield is now even worse with Teixeira, Brian Roberts, Nunie, Brendan Ryan, Jeter and Kelly Johnson.

if it goes to federal court i think arod will win. maybe it will be lowered to 50 gms. how does that impact our cap if the league rules he's suspended for the entire year? do we get an exception on the tax if he is allowed back after 50?

Tax is figured on the ending salary and not the starting so there would be no need for an exception unless of course this drama keeps going past the end of the season!

The federal appeals court appeal is a waste of time, traditionally when you agree to arbitration (as Arod did) and the process plays out, the FC doesn't overturn it unless some very wrong with the rules of law happen. Good bye.....

just cut cut him a check for 61M and DFA him......remember that 189M was just for THIS year because tax after 189 was 75%. After this year it goes back to normal rates, so they will have the money next year. They probably do 61M in beer sales in one month.

Minus arods salary they are at around 151M in payroll obligations, enough room to sign Tanaka, and with Mike Young still out there I bet they can get him for a discounted price. Not ideal but Young is BETTER than Arod at this point.

Serious question, as of right now, what's the over/under on total HRs by the Yankees' infield in 2013? Is 50 a fair bench mark?

Interesting. I'll say it will be closer to 40. I think Teixeira will hit 20, Kelly Johnson will hit 10, and the combo of Jeter, Roberts, Nunie, Sizemore, Ryan etc will hit 10.
