Definitely could see it, they had scouts there the other day....Juan Rivera isn't exactly good at first for them....
I can't wait for the old routine 6-3 play when Nunie is at SS and Rivera is on 1st, should be a hell of an adventure.
Other interesting tidbit regarding the Wells deal with LAAoA The Angels will pay about $28.5 million of the $42 million Wells is owed through the 2014 season, The Associated Press reported. The Yankees will pay most of his salary this year, a move designed to help the Angels to stay under the luxury-tax threshold of $178 million, while the Angels will pay most of his salary next year, when the Yankees hope to get under the threshold as it rises to $189 million. The Yankees had some extra money to spend because part of Mark Teixeira's salary -- about $6 million if Teixeira returns in mid-May -- is being covered by insurance from the World Baseball Classic while he is on the disabled list. some good ol' back scratching there!
Maybe I'll try to go double or nothing here but the Astros just released SS Tyler Greene, perhaps with Jeter out, most likely, until May and with Nunez being Nunez, the Yankees might want to have a late inning SS defensive replacement too.
hey Ray I am just testing something. Can you write. "Yankees will win the world series." just for ****s and giggles
Nah that one is too easy. Of course the Yankees will win the World Series, it's just a matter of when right?
just survive till reinforcements arrive...and hope the Arms do not contribute to the stock pile of ailements: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blo...tory-mark-ulriksen-baseball.html#slide_ss_0=1
Astro fans better cherish today's moment. It's the only time this season that they will be the best team in the league and have more wins then anyone. Today also begins the weirdest opening day for the Yankees in a long time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
yeah JT, but it has to happen at some point....every team needs to re-eval and get better.....the Yanks will be competitive this year like BDH said they will get some parts back, and their pitching is still good....Next year is when it gets real iffy..... But yeah my father told me Opening Day is today, I totally forgot....hey at least you will probably be able to get some tickets real cheap this year...
Oh I agree, I just hate seeing Mo and pettitte go out like this. Look when it comes down to it, Yankees have a good core with cano, and granderson. I personally like them playing small ball and I think there's a chance the Yankees do good this season. I mean once we get everyone back and healthy it's not a bad team. Still think the blue jays are not as good as everyone thinks too. I'm not excited about this season as I have been about previous but I'm still going to watch every game I could. 3 years in a row I got MLB.tv even though money has been tight, this season is the first season in a while where I can't get it but I'm still going to follow them, watch streams on line and support them. As Yankee fans we have been spoiled, even with the last decade not going as smoothly as the 90s, half the fans in baseball would kill to have the last 20 years we did. I love this team and I can't wait till the day it gets back to the Bronx bombers. Go Yankees! I'll be supportive no matter what happens this season! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Right whatever happens, I am going to really just enjoy Mo this year......FWIW I think AP goes one more....but who knows really...
Pettitte is going to keep playing as long as the Yankees pay him to. Considering the amount of question marks for next years rotation i can see the Yankees overpaying for him to come back.
I really hope so! It would be amazing if its early November and we are looking back and saying, well Pettitte is most likely done, what better story for him to get the victory in his last game in the World Series, as Mo getting the save, perfect story book ending. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
With AP, obviously it isnt abut velo, but more about location......AP is as heady as a pitcher I have seen in a long time....if he loses his command he is done, but so far he hasn't thank God...
First pitch a strike, good Gary (omen) right? Edit: I know it's oldman but just go with the joke Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
First AB for Bryce Harper today......see ya.... That kid is going to own baseball this year watch.....MVP....
Jayson nix<Ronnier Nunez is not the answer (maybe ill eat crow on this one) I liked what I saw from Youk and cervelli. Hafner, overbay, Francisco.....another man's trash is apparently a 215 million dollar team's treasure.
Cervelli is one of those dudes were he doesn't seems like he should do sh$t, but many times when he does something good happens....
Robinson Cano has fired agent Scott Boras, reports ESPN's Buster Olney. Olney says Cano "has quietly been meeting with other agents in recent weeks to discuss a possible switch, and now he has changed representation." Cano is the top free agent of the 2013-14 offseason, with a potential $200MM contract in his sights, so it's a big blow for Boras. Cano hired Boras in February 2011, three years after previous agent Bobby Barad negotiated a team-friendly contract that included a pair of club options. Last month, Yankees GM Brian Cashman told reporters the team had made a "significant offer," with free agency looming after the season. Cano's reasons for leaving Boras since then are unknown, as is the identity of his new agent, but it stands to reason that the Yankees' chances of extending the player before free agency have increased.
Bad news: Yankees are on pace to go 0-162. Good news, cano saved a bunch of money on switching new agents. Now is represented by jay z firm. Could talk sense into him in getting a deal done with the yanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I could not agree with you more about Nunez. I have never been a fan of this guy. Always screws up some how. I am a big fan of cervelli. He ha got the job done before and is a good ball player. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like Cano wants to stay in NY he fired Boras and hired Jay Z's agency. Looks like im slow to the punch!
He had a nice tag on Elsbury and drove in the only 2 runs yesterday. He isn't a world beater by any means but plays decent defense and pitchers seem to like him.
Look at Jorge's stats, really not a world beater either. He's a career .273 hitter and he really showed no power till 2000. His ops is nice, and I think cervelli, with a bit more patience can be everything Jorge was and maybe more.
On cano: he's loyal, wants a deal done soon because he is not comfortable being asked questions about his contract everyday and he didn't think Boras was working fast enough. Scott boras commented through twitter that he hadn't been told by cano that there was an agent switch.
We're really trying to compare Cervelli to Jorge Posada? Posada was a .273/.374/.474/.848 career hitter as a catcher in 1829 games, that's almost borderline HOFer right there. Cervelli is a career .263/.359/.356/.713 hitter in the minor leagues (for historical reference Posada was a .258/.368/.436/.804 hitter in the minors) and .272/.340/.353/.693 in the MLB. Posada hit 17 HRs in 409 PAs in 1998 and 12 HRs in 437 PAs in 1999, the power was there, the playing time wasn't, it wasn't. At Posada's age 27 season he was hitting .287/.417/.529/.943 with 28 HRs. In Cervelli's whole pro career in 1836 plate appearances Cervelli has hit a total of 15 home runs. So yeah I wouldn't bet on Cervelli even being half as good as Posada was. And so it doesn't look like I'm piling on Cervelli, he does take pitches and has a pretty good OBP for a catcher but he's a singles hitter with no pop. I honestly wouldn't even bet that Cervelli last a full calendar year with the Yankees or is even on the roster in 2014 let alone being Jorge Posada, Jr. He's a fringe MLB player/back up catcher.
I'm not comparing Jorge to Francisco., I'm just saying with a little bit of patience Francisco can be a very serviceable catcher in the majors. Now will the Yankees have the. patience, probably not, but im hoping so.
[QUOTEmainge;2035921] I'll say there's zero chance Cervelli approaches anything close Posda.[/QUOTE] You guys are too literal. I was not comparing, I was showingThat there may be reason to have faith in Cervelli.
Be happy if he plays like Girardi.....but likely-HoF Posada is not the comparison (aside from approach, attitude, and well, being a catcher) from batting production standpoint. Now, I think Cervelli in context of what he is holding the position for, is just fine. Not even at the top of the problems to solve.
