Woj and Isola (theyre connected at the hip regarding knicks info it seems) are saying Melo back to NY is expected tomorrow:
The way LeBron is holding everyone hostage and not providing even a timeline...is way more entertaining than The Decision.
Because theyve managed to completely lock up the Free Agency market letting Riley do his pitch to the second/third tier guys
Honestly, if 4 years, 4 Finals and 2 championships aren't enough to give the organization the benefit of the doubt, even on a short term basis, then I don't know what Riley could say that would make a difference. Melo apparently believes in PJax who has been there about 15 minutes but Brin doesn't trust Riley and is bringing this whole thing down because of Mike Miller? Crazy. Not dealing with a completely rational person there
Maybe the next one will be. Ewing had his "protection" with oak and Mason... I cant exactly name a 10lb poodle Oakley though
Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Granger, McRoberts, Napier, Haslem, Cole, Allen, Oden Would you think that right there is enough to beat the Spurs in the finals next year?
Honestly what we had last year was enough IMO Everyone played uncharacteristically bad and the Spurs played out of their minds that series. For every wide open shot they nailed...we missed one. So while I'm also interested in what Section says to this I feel really good. If Granger is healthy this could be our most complete team yet.
I'm hoping this Isaiah Thomas thing happens, sweeten the deal for the Bobcats to pay Chalmers what he wants. Add some future draft picks, do whatever.
My opinion is that this is a legacy decision. Lebron is widely considered to be one of the villains of the NBA and, while clearly established one of the "greats", he is obviously benefited by a stellar supporting cast in Miami. A move to Cleveland means he gets to be the good guy again and, if he can win there, moves him squarely into the discussion as the GOAT. This is about how he will be remembered. Just my .02.
No. Subtract Haslem, Cole and maybe Allen, who may just be done, finally. Add Vince Carter, Jameer Nelson, and Boozer. NOW you've got the supporting cast you need to not depend on heroics from Lebron to win routine games. EDIT: Plus Birdman.
I think it hurts his legacy more than it helps if he goes back honestly. From a fan perspective the only reason he would go back is for a better supporting casts. Real GOAT players bring their team championships. You get to leave a bad situation for a good one, but if you continue to jump ship from team to team for a better cast it just looks terrible. Adande (don't like him but whatever) actually wrote a half decent piece questioning how Lebron could play for Gilbert again and it isn't just the letter. Everything he has stood for as an owner goes against the things Lebron wants to bring to the league. It goes into the lockout and such.
Haslem will be a Heat player for life IMO much like Wade. However Cole is expendable if you want to add Isaiah Thomas or maybe even Jameer Nelson plus Boozer. Not sure if we could add Boozer and Isaiah.
I disagree with this if hes going back with a Love trade and mike miller and ray allen he looks more like a guy who quits when it gets tough
People are making waaay too much of the low-level role-player guys. The bottom line is that if you have LeBron, Bosh, and Wade...you are built to make and win the Finals every year. The NBA has always been about star players. The Heat ran into a pissed off revenge-seeking buzzsaw featuring HOFers...and then Wade faded, they failed to feature Bosh, and LeBron's opposing matchup took him one-on-one and earned Finals MVP. No amount of reasonable support from cheap inconsistent filler players was going to help overcome all of that, imo.
IF he goes back, I guess we'll see what he gets, but my impression is that a championship in Cleveland is by no means a certainty, whereas the only question in Miami was how many.Too easy? Plus Wade was the "leader" and the "architect", at least in the beginning, one could argue that Lebron was the muscle and not the brains for a chunk of his time in Miami- maybe he's tempted to change that
Saw that a long time ago. -Would- is the operative word in them. Sounds like a guy who hasn't spoken to Lebron and also doesn't understand our cap situation at all.
If the cavs stay pat with all the young guns then I can agree with you because he would be throwing away years of his prime for his home state. However I highly doubt he goes back to play with young guys.
@EthanJSkolnick 56m Following on Yahoo report about Mike Miller... he'll be seeking multiple years for stability, so Heat fans can rule out 2015-16 return.
