Jeter batted .250/.294/.375/.669 in 51 plate appearances in 1995.

Also don't forget Dustin Pedroia batted .191/.258/.303/.561 in 98 plate appearances in 2006 and then in April of 2007 batted .182/.308/.236/.544 in 655 plate appearances.

The thing with Zoilo is, binder joe hates rookies....lol no seriously, he's an everyday mlb outfielder and there is absolutely no place for him with or without ichi. No use having him rot on the bench...let him keep playing in triple a and when both Brett and els make their returns to the dl, he'll be ready to fill in.

If this nags all year, it could be a problem.....unless JBJ does well....good thing they didnt trade Carp or Nava...

Again that's probably the biggest reason why JBJ was originally sent back to Triple A, because the Sox love having depth and JBJ was the only one with minor league options left.

There was never any intention of trading Nava. I think the Sox were exploring trade options for Carp but wouldn't have made a move unless they liked the return. Victorino was a warrior last year playing through a lot of nagging injuries, it's obviously not a good sign that the season hasn't even started yet and his hammy is already barking.

Tough loss yesterday. Sox had plenty of opportunities to break the game open but they just couldn't get a hit with runners on base. Lester pitched really well, just 1 mistake pitch (perfect example of pitcher's W/L overrated, also see Cliff Lee's day where he got a W while giving up what 8 runs). Even though the Sox didn't get any big hits with runners on they hit the ball pretty hard all day, unfortunately the ball wasn't carrying much as Bogaerts, Ortiz twice, Napoli, and Pedroia all would have had HRs yesterday if it was during the summer.

Oh well so much for 162-0, but there's always 161-1....

So much for Nunie being the Yankees SS of the future. Maybe the Yankees should stop naming the "Jeter successor" ahead of time since it hasn't worked out so well for him or Ramiro Pena.

From MLB Trade Rumors regarding Nunez’ defense.

“His 2013 UZR/150 innings mark of -40.7 was the worst rate logged by any player who saw at least 500 innings in the field.”

I knew it was bad, but I would have guessed somebody else would have been worse. Good luck Nunez, I hope you find a good home.

Nobody will succeed Jeter, it is like trying to succeed Mo, just impossible, whoever said that is a dope.

There are options at the end of the year if all these SS FA's dont resign. Plus Max Scherzer too, this offseason coming up will be very interesting...

Rays are extended Chris Archer for 6 years at 25 million. Again this is what every team, whether you're a big market or small market, should be doing with your good younger players.

8 years at 4M per assuming the last 2 clubs are 4 per as well is so bomb for a pitcher of his caliber.....

    4. Million. Per. Year.

Dude the Rays need some pop, if they did they would be the hands on favorite IMO....past few years they get to the playoffs and dont have the horse offensively to win the games for them....Pitching wins championships fo sure but you do need a little bit of offense too..

I agree. Pitching and the long ball tend to win in the playoffs. Home runs cost money though.

They could probably get one really cheap right now :wink2:.....

Ok Fink I am confused now with Drew. I thought there was a deal waiting for him right after OD, but still nothing.....There are teams out there with SS needs and he is still unsigned....I am kinda amazed at this point...

Apparently the teams in need just don't like Drew enough as a player, the draft pick it will cost the team and the money they will have to spend on him. It's completely crazy because while Drew isn't a great player, he's in the very least an average all around SS that, in a vaccum and money/draft pick stuff aside, could probably be an upgrade for half of the MLB teams right now.

I still think the Tigers will end up signing him once they realize that Alex Gonzalez is causing a sink hole in Detroit and there was a reason why the Brewers moved him to 1B last year before they released him.

Boras completely misread the market for him and Morales big time.

Sox look like they have picked up right where they left off in 2013 so far this year. Very well played 3 game series vs. Baltimore, especially from the pitchers. I'm in love with Bogaerts, just give him a 10 year extension now. Also nice to see Middlebrooks have a few hits and JBJ wasn't a bust for at least 1 game, hit the ball well off of a LHPer twice and had some very nice defensive plays. Even though the Sox lost Ellsbury and Saltalamacchia this line up is still pretty deep and will score some runs.

Today is ring day, should be a fun ceremony.

Finally on the board with a W. Man this hitting has to get going a little bit, Relying on Solarte to be your hitter isnt going to work.....Pitching hasn't been terrible, even CC held in there and gave them innings when it looked like he might not make it out of the 1st inning.

    Solarte>Nunez already.....

I didn't think Sabathia or Nova looked very good. Sabathia was throwing everything right on the plate at 88 mph and Nova put 13 guys on base in 5.2 innings, he was lucky to only give up 2 runs all of those DPs saved him. Again 1 game each though can't get too excited either way.

Henry Owens, the Sox best pitching prospect throw a no-hitter last night, granted it was a rained shorten game but he went 6 innings with 2 walks and 9 Ks. Mookie Betts, one of the top hitting prospects, went 4 for 4 with a HR. That Portland Sea Dog team is pretty good talent wise along with Blake Swihart and Devern Marrero.

Owens' Double A stats are kind of video gameish in 36.1 innings he's given up 18 hits, 6 earned runs, 17 walks and 55 Ks. If this kid can cut down on the walks, he has ace potential. Overall in 242.2 minor league innings he's K'ed 308 guys, and it's not even that he throws in the upper 90s, with his delivery it's tough to pick up the ball and he has a pretty good curve/change up combo.

Huge show of maturity for nova, last year they would have scored at least 5 runs on him. Kuroda pitched well enough to win. Im happy with Tex's swings, jeter looks to be OK, Beltran is going to hit. I really think soriano is going to need to adjust to the DH role. I want Gardner leading off, he's such a pest, won't happen though. Im not ready to panic yet. Let's see where they are in a month.

Fink, the parts of the 2 sox games I watched, I was actually more impressed with bogarts, than I though I would be. Don't think JBJ did anything to hurt his chances, you think they'll find a way to keep him up?

Bogaerts, since the postseason, has looked great at the plate. I know its cliche to say "he's only 21 but looks like a veteran at the plate" but he does. He's not swinging at any bad pitches, is patient at the plate, isn't afraid to hit with 2 strikes or take a walk, nothing seems to bother him while hitting. It reminds me of when Miguel Cabrera first came up. His defense has been pretty good too. I think he's going to be a superstar and I do think the Sox should try to lock him up long term and wonder if Boras would go for something like Longoria's first contract or not.

As for JBJ staying up it really all depends on what the roster looks like when Victorino comes off the DL. If the current 25 man roster is healthy then JBJ will probably go back down to the minors, since he's the only OF that has options left, to play everyday unless he really starts hitting the ball and forces his way into the line up. If there's an injury then he'll stay up. I would like to see him play more regularly with Victorino out, especially in RF at Fenway. I think he'll get his chance though in the early part of the year.

Yeah, here's hoping Stephen Drew, Kendrys Morales, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira call Xander up and give him the dirt on Boras so there's an agent switch. Boras is also the agent for JBJ.
