I hope Lebron gets a nice kickback from that deal he got Thompson, that contract is a joke, that guy would have trouble scoring on the court by himself.
Erase what? They've missed a ton of makeable/open shots. They'll make those same shots more often than they miss them. Heck they missed 4-5 wide open 3s and a bunch of lay-ups. Bad news for Cavs, Curry and Thompson had an off shooting night and they still got blownout. Good news? They can have Delly injure Love with some dirty shot and save some points on defense. He's god awful defensively.
Yeah hopefully this series is interesting, but it doesn't look like it. GSW switching and on-ball defense is a huge problem for what CLE wants to do. Every one of their guards and wings can stay in front to cut off any dribble drive, and Cavs offense just stalls. Cleveland's offense was hard to watch, and I'm not sure they have the players/coach to adjust...unless they drastically change rotations. Iggy and Livingston were awesome tonight. Iggy really raises his game against the Cavs for whatever reason...so many little things he does for them.
I hope Fin-O didn't do anything stupid. I would never take advantage of any of you guys.....or, maybe I had a such a bad postseason, that I didn't want to risk my no lose situation. Lol
Incredible how Cleveland got destroyed down low. Total domination. But I thought Cleveland had the "blueprint"! Haha.
back to Boik's front court analysis.... Tristan Thompson was (On the tell -tale chart) a complete detriment defensively. He gave up 6-8 shooting on rolls to the basket, and two were hockey assists for threes, for 14 pts. on 10 isolated/targeted plays for ...ready for this...140 POINTS PER 100 POSSESSIONS. he rated out as Cleveland's worst defender. Cavs best player tonight? ALSO Tristan Thompson...with an even Chart score at +1.5. More interesting numbers: Steph Curry and Klay Thompson were the two WORST Warriors over 3 minutes played at a total game score of -0.7. Best Warrior was Andre Igoudala at a +10.25. Barbosa was a +7.75 in 11 minutes. Draymond was solid as well at a way above average +6.25 FORMULA: FGA, MIN, FGM, 3PFGM, TO, FGM Allowed, TO, Weighted per 36 min..
Good thing I'm not in Vegas just yet....I feel like Cleveland can do a better job than most at "containing" the GS backcourt (not to the extreme of last night) and they did, and GS and Kerr proved they may not have the best player in the finals but they undoubtedly have the best roster. BTW, I haven't watched a Warrior game this season and not been dumbfounded at how good Shuan Livingston seems to play. Is that really even fair?
That is what the Warrior deniers don't get. They think that team is just about chucking and making bombs.. Nope. They are about lock down defense first...then they hit bombs, and if they DON'T hit bombs they have plenty of players to carry them offensively. Hey, I'm a Heat fan, and I think the 13' Heat was an all-time great team, but I have no problem saying this is the best team I have ever seen, and I saw the 85' Lakers and 86' Celtics, all of the Bulls teams.....
I tend to think the really great Bulls teams would have found a way to win against GS with Phil and Michael but it would be a great matchup. GS is a complete team, just look at last night. The threes weren't dropping, Kerr played around with some matchups, the bench got hot and Cleveland eventually got blown out. The Cavs are a really good team, in years where there isn't an All-Time Great team to play against I'd give them a good chance at getting a title but they are just screwed that GS is peaking right now.
Genius gameplan by Cleveland. Let the Warriors destroy them in the first game so they get cocky and let their guard down. Lue is a top 3 coach.
Man those '96 Bulls would be such a fun matchup for GS. Jordan, Pippen, Harper, Rodman are great to combat the small ball lineups. Jordan (43%), Pippen (37%), Kucoc (40%), Kerr (52%!!!) could bomb from 3, too.
Ok..here it is.... I have been watching Basketball since about 82'...here are the best teams I have ever seen (TOP TEN): 1. 2016 Warriors 2. 1986 Celtics 3. 2013 Heat 4. 1996 Bulls 5. 1985 Lakers 6. 2014 Spurs 7. 2015 Warriors 8. 2000 Lakers 9. 1983 76ers 10. 2008 Celtics Honorable Mention: 2012 Heat, 2004 Pistons
2 Heat Teams and 1 Bulls team? Homer much? The 96 Bulls team would have beaten that 2012 Heat team and the 2016 Warriors team.
Not Homer. My List. Make your own list. Those Bulls teams came in a Dead NBA Era. Their competition was POOP. That 96' Bulls team never played a team as good as the 12' Heat or 16' Warriors.
That Bulls team was better, I mean thats the ultimate homer pick and for the record that 12 Heat team was an all time great team, I just don't think they'd beat the all time great Bulls teams. I think those Riley Knicks teams would beat some of those teams on your list, they just had the misfortune of having the Bulls teams to go through.
Those Knicks teams had ONE Hall of Famer, and lost in The NBA Dead Era to another team with ONE Hall of famer. Hell No. BTW, all of the teams I posted, save for 1 (2000 Lakers) had 3 Hall of Famers and a Few had 4 hall of famers and 1 had 5, and you think Patrick Ewing is gonna beat those teams? No.
If Iguodala wins another Finals MVP this year, which after last night he's on his way, is he a Hall of Famer? I say yes. First ballot too.
One of those 89-90-91 Pistons that went back-to-back belongs on this post-1982 best teams list. They had elite defense coupled with excellent scorers. They held off the (albeit waining) Showtime Lakers, 80s Celtics and the Jordan Bulls and the criminally underrated Mark Price/Brad Daugherty/Larry Nance/Ron Harper Cavs.
They also had a very underrated offense as well, and had an all-time great coach too. But that list is hard to crack.
Dude, they had elite scoring: Isiah Thomas, Vinnie Johnson, Mark Aguirre/Adrian Dantley, Joe Dumars, James Edwards. Dude, they had elite defense: Joe Dumars, Dennis Rodman, Rick Mahorn, Bill Laimbeer, John Salley Dude, they had an elite nickname: The Bad Boys
Top 5 NBA Team Nicknames 1. The Bad Boys (Pistons) 2. Showtime (Lakers) 3. The Heatles (Heat) 4. The Dubs (Warriors) 5. The Jail Blazers (Portland) and no..Lob City, Buzz City, Clutch City and Rip City don't get in because they were all market driven contrived nicknames. Coach Nicknames: 1. Red (Red Auerbach) 2. The Godfather (Pat Riley) 3. Daddy Rich (Chuck Daly) 4. The Wizard of Westwood (John Wooden) 5. Zen Master (Phil Jackson)
I thought they were one of the best defensive teams I've seen, I get the HOFer argument and depending on the refs thats a perfectly logical argument. Which team are you talking about that had one Hall of Famer?
it was organic. Made up by a fan. It sold millions of t-shirts. The team was a massive draw on the road, and fit the name. Not lame.
If we're talking strictly about Heat nicknames, I prefer The Flying Death Machine to the Heatles. What about twitter-driven player nicknames? How would that list look like, and where would Cobra Dick fall on it?
Can't tell if this is tongue-in-cheek. I'm guessing yes, because there's zero chance he makes the HOF, let alone on the 1st ballot.
COBRA DICK was the VERY BEST nickname ever. and I love that it only lasted the 4 years that Cobra Dick was here.
I forgot they didn't have Drexler for that series. Still Olajuwon was one the best players I've ever seen, he gets overlooked as a top, top player. It would be interesting to see what he would do in a league where there are only a small handful of real Centers that actually play like bigmen.
