Ok...this is how this is gonna work. The Heat CANNOT do anything till Wade's $30mil cap hold goes away. A) They have a fluid deal in place that will remove the hold. The deal I am sure, and I do have a little info on it relies on what Pat Riley can bag out in the market. B) a 1 +1 deal is ideal, but remember, you bag a WHALE like KD, you are gonna need all the cap space you can get next year so a 1 + 1 deal better be favorable. Hassan Whiteside wants the full max. A) Those are the reports from Dallas. The reports also say they will pay him the full max no matter. B) The Heat have the 6 days of the moratorium to decide on what to do. C) They will insist on making him play ball with us, and allowing us to field a contending team. D) I do sense that patience will be low with Hassan if he insists on the full max, and they will call his bluff and let him walk. Al Horford is Plan B. A) Atlanta can pay him in excess of $40mil more with a full max. B) The indications are that Horford does not care about that and will seek a favorable landing spot. C) The REAL insiders say he has set his heart on joining the Heat or the Knicks, and in that order. D) I don't know how he turns down a max offer from Atlanta. DeMar DeRozan. A) Heat want to touch base I am sure only to rig the market next year, by selling him on taking a 1+ 1 B) I am calling it right now. he will sign with the Lakers for the full max. Goran Dragic A) The Heat have a deal in place ready to go at a moments notice if they do indeed land KD and need to jettison Dragic. B) The alternative of course is for KD to make a sacrifice in order to keep the entire team intact. C) Don't rule that out either. KD is Wealthy. he does not care about an extra $5mil in one year. D) I am told Conley will remain with Memphis on a longterm deal. Tyler Johnson A) will have suitors. B) if somebody poison pills him, remember that the team is REQUIRED to have the yearly average on hand in cap space to do so. C) He will go for at least $6mil per year if you believe what some media types are saying. Luol Deng A) Heat will play the waiting game with him and play a game of Cap attrition. B) Every year there are good players that sign below market due to Cap dollars drying up. C) Deng, Gasol, and others such as Jamal Crawford could be this year's Cap attrition club. Heat want to keep fluidity and the next round of Free Agents after the initial flux, is where real improvement can come besides of course a KD signing. A) Forget about Harrison Barnes B) Will monitor D12 C) Gasol is a favorite at a price and if they lose HW. D) Heat will explore Parsons, Bazemore, and Batum, if only for due diligence. I don;t think they will commit resources. E) Bismack Biyombo is also in that exploratory group. They won;t want to spend too much. F) Marvin Williams is a definite Target, early in FA, for many teams and the Heat will be one of them. - Heat are interesting in Joakim Noah as a third Big to backup Whiteside. - Ryan Anderson has priced himself out of the Heat's budget. - Courtney Lee will have many suitors and the Kings are gonna spend big on him, so cross him off the list. - JR Smith will get paid. - Amir Johnson will get many looks, but Boston holds an option. Guys to watch that can get caught in the Cap wash: Ian Mahinmi (my fav. for a third big for the heat), Joe Johnson, Al Jefferson, Jared Dudley, Jerryd Bayless, Anthony Morrow, Gerald Henderson, Norris Cole or Mario Chalmers! (look for them if TJ leaves via RFA), PJ Tucker, Ty Lawson.
Thank you Sec as always. There is a lot to unpack there. On Wade, why the 1&1? Why not just 1 if the goal is cap space? As for DeRozan, if he takes a 1&1 that sounds like we're looking at a Wade replacement I still want Whiteside and don't know why he wouldn't commit to Dallas before the end of the moratorium but I guess it's possible Any details you can share on the potential Dragic trade?
Great info Section. If the Hawks lose Horford, they might as well rebuild. I'd love to see if we could pry Mike Scott from them too if we got Horford. Scott is really underrated IMO, and with Teague gone, they might be willing to play ball on others. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
NBA Buzz: Lakers not giving up hopes of landing Kevin Durant, confident they can get meeting with him - Chris Broussard. They're like the little engine that couldn't take a hint. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
Not that this is a major thing, but are we allowed to sign Chalmers? I thought there was a rule prohibiting that within a year of the trade
Awesome as always. Gun to your head, what do you think the Heat roster looks like heading into next season?
A) On Wade, the 1 + 1 is for security. B) ON DeRozan, it is not an attempt to sign him. It is an attempt to saturate the market next year. C) commitments don't mean anything, as DeAndre Jordan proved. D) any Dragic trade I am sure is just a salary dump to use on KD.
Thank you Only issue on Jordan is that was such a big story because reneging on the commitment is so rare. And the fact it played out in real time with funny emojis
Thanks for the writeup, Sec! Looking at those smaller guys, I'd be ecstatic if we picked up Mahinmi, Morrow, or Henderson. It would be nice having Ian as a 3rd big you know you can rely on and Morrow and Henderson really help fill that wing position. Either would be fantastic.
FWIW, Windhorst saying Wade couldn't reach "common ground" with the team so he'll field outside offers. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
As if right on cue to make me look dumb: Per Windhorst (of course), Wade talks going slowly, Wade's representatives telling teams he is open to offers F me
It's silly season. Wade has been out of the country for two weeks. All this nonsense is agent driven. You guys remember my stance from last year.
Wallace also worked on the report and Tim Reynolds says he's posting an interview with Wade late tonight, it's legit.
It sure seems like that's going to be the case unless both sides move on. Wade is 35, we have to be realistic, Riley is being realistic. Now it's Wade's turn to be realistic. We don't owe Wade money, he has made near max his entire career, sure he took some paycut here and there, but it's never been something so ridiculous. You can talk about sacrifice all you want but that's the price of winning 3 championships so in that sense I think he's been paid back just fine. 3 years 45 million Wade.. take it or leave it.. enough is enough though.. Why is it that Dirk and Duncan has been able to play for 12-13 million per at the end of their careers but Wade feels like he should still be paid like a franchise player.. We aren't doing a Kobe farewell contract..
You're doing it to yourself. Legit in the sense that Wade's agent is talking, yes. Legit in the sense that it's Going To Happenâ„¢, um, no.
Maybe.. but honestly... List me the teams ready to give Wade 20 million per year... List the teams ready to give him 15 million per year.... It's not there.. if I'm Riley i'm staying firm. I'd actually challenge Wade's bluff and if he ends up pulling a Jordan and signs with the Wizards for max then so be it.
76ers are making Harrison Barnes a top target, willing to give him the max... This kind of reminds me of Atlanta giving Joe Johnson the max after he shined with the Suns as a 4th option behind Nash Amare and Marion... it can work out good for the Sixers, or it can be very bad..
From Windhorst's article It's all a bunch of BS. Windhorst is trolling while being used by agents for posturing.
Meanwhile, Duncan opted into $5.6 million. Signing on the way? Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
Durant meetings will be in the Hamptons on Friday and Saturday. Nice location. Unclear which day Miami will meet with KD.
I wonder if it's better to have the first meeting or the last. Probably the last as you want Riley to make the final impression.
Yep. Anytime I hear something I don't want to hear?? Calling it "trolling" makes me feel so much better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
