My bad. Don't watch AL games and was going from memory of what I'd read.

Haha yes you do. I think the contract is pretty decent actually. Surprised Baltimore wouldn't go the 4th year. I think Safeco is going to naturally kill a lot of his HR power though but Seattle needs hitters.

The contract is perfect.....the dude said they are going to be fine....that they getting Kemp......lol...

Can someone explain to me the non-tender thing? Do teams have to non-tender somebody.....Yanks non-tendered Campos, Huff and Heathcott

Surely there had to be other people they could have non-tendered...

Non-tender basically means not offered them a contract for the coming season making them a free agent.

Yankees non-tendered Campos, Huff and Heathcott to get them off the 40 man roster. They can still resign with the team though.

Oh ok ok.....so maybe they put them on the 40-man last year to protect them from the rule 5 draft?

    Exactly.

Most teams who didn't tender contracts to players was because they were arbitration eligible and didn't want to pay 2.5 million dollars for a back up infielder for example like the Angels dumping Gordon Beckham.

Since they become free agents right away, then they cab re negotiate terms of a contract that's better suited for the club. Like the yanks did with David Adams a few years ago.

Like Finfangirl said the Yankees could always resign them but I'm guessing they either didn't like his stuff this year and didn't think he'd be worth a 40 man spot or they think they can sign him again, maybe they already have a deal in place.

I can understand why they cut Heathcott though, bad make up, consistently hurt, questions about his work ethic, underperforming, etc.

I will take it, They had to give up one guy to get a SS, albeit underperforming with the bat right now, but locks down defense.....

I would rather give a 24 year old cost controlled kid who isn't a FA until 2019 a shot rather than signing a veteran to some inflated contract.....

Play Prado at 3rd, Didi at SS, either Pirela/Rob at 2b, Tex at first and sign Morales to back him up.....much better infield than last year...

hey Fink at some point they have to start trying kids out you know?

What kids? And where would they play? Only have openings at 2B or 3B now depending where Prado plays and if Arod is the full time DH.

I don't have a problem with the trade from the Yankees stand point, I think the sold high on Greene.

They are going to make Jose Pirela and Rob Reyndsyer battle it out for 2nd in ST.....Again I don't mind it, there is **** at 2nd base via free agency......why not give a kid a shot?

If Headley (which it looks like he will) walks you have to play Prado full time at 3rd with A-Rod being a DH or bench player....BG in left, Ells, and Beltran at DH/RF....they need a better fielding option in RF though...maybe Judge gets a look later in the year?

I am thinking they are getting good vibes from Kuroda on coming back back with Nova/Tanaka/CC as major ? marks why would you trade Greene who if anything could give you innings at the 5 hole?

Here is what I think happens though.....Miller supposedly is signing today somewhere if they sign him, they let D-Rob walk at the pick and then they get Scherzer.....if they don't get Miller they pay for D-Rob...

    that is my prediction.....

ultimately I would like to see them let D-Rob walk and not sign Max and sign Lester.....keep the picks...

Well that's the only thing that makes you think about this trade because of all the question marks at SPing and even if Kuroda comes back, he's a question mark himself. So it's obvious the Yankees are going to sign 2 SPers now and probably would have anyway.

It is going to be crazy because the Sox need at least 2 as well....and they will all be in on the same people available either through free agency or trades...

Should be interesting. Once Lester signs the rest of the market will pick up for the Lirianos and McCarthys of the world. Don't really think the Yankees will be a factor in trades though as they don't have much to offer in the minors.

    Kuroda and Scherzer perhaps?

I really liked Greene but i wanted them to trade for Didi last year so this works.

**** me too, green's MiLB era was in mid 4's his last 6 starts for the yanks mirrored that. His slider sort of appeared last year, I think he's a bottom of the rotation guy and anytime you can trade that for young cost controlled SS who can pick it, you do it. No questions asked. It appears they tried green for didi straight up but the Dbacks wanted none of that. I like the trade a lot. He can work on his bat, short porch in YS might be good for him. Wondering what girardi does with three lefties in the lineup.

LOVE THE MILLER SIGNING> houston made a bigger offer, but he took NY based on him living in tampa and being able to spend a longer time with his family during spring training.

Get to work Cashman, yanks need 2 starters now - Either Scherzer or Lester and McCarthy will do. Prefer we go with the youth at 2nd and let prado play 3rd. If McCann can hit like he finished last season, and Beltran plays like he did before he hit that wall in tampa, (big if's) they'll be ok.

Really will be interesting to see where he signs and for how much before I get worked up over it. I'm really on the fence either way because I do love Lester but there are obvious cons to giving him that much and for that long.

Still think the Sox blew it back in ST but hopefully this is another lesson they'll learn moving forward.

Depends on who they replace Sandoval with. The Giants an average offensive team in 2014 and with the way offense has been the past few years I think it's actually more important to add a bat to the line up than an arm if all things are equal. Especially playing in the NL and in a pitcher's ballpark like AT&T is.

Orioles are on the verge of signing Matt Tuiasosopo. Hes going to be a nice piece for them I think. He is going to hit lefties very well and be a nice bat for them. His swing is pretty good.

Wait, what? He's a career .193/.293/.345/.638 hitter vs. LHPers. And a career .207/.290/.356/.646 MLB hitter that's 28 years old. I'd hate to see what his stats would be like if he had a bad swing.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say he's not going to make much of a difference, if at all, this year for Baltimore or any MLB club.
