I hate this deal. Granted Lagares has been mediocre at best this year because hes playing hurt but Id much rather have gotten Braun. This team needs a bopper. And I hate giving up Flores who has been a good soldier for NYM. Flores played SS when he knew he was clearly overmatched and getting booed there. Stupid move leaving him in too. IF Gomez wants to play like he did in 13 or 14 then its better but if hes going to play like the mediocrity hes played so far? meh
It was sad watching him because just like you said he was overmatched at that position but he did it anyways because the team needed him there. And then to get traded, he feels like he failed the team when he wasnt even playing his natural position. Sucks but business is business.
Yep, not only that but hes worked hard to learn english and been with the mets since he was 16. I remember a few years ago thinking he was going to be a great player and he may be another Jeff Kent (down the road...when someone is smart enough to just leave him at 2B) who the Mets once traded....
The good news for the Mets is... 1. Gomez can now start playing like its 2013 or 14 when he looked like a top 20 player. 2. Darnaud is en route to come back to the team as his rehab assignment is done. Hes played only 19 games. 3. Wright is rehabbing. Hes played only 8 games 4. Jerry Blevins is rehabbing and should be back soon which is important because Alex Torres sucks and we have no lefties. 5. Lucas Duda hit 3 homers tonight and can now hit them with runners on base as he seems to have rediscovered the fact hes a power hitter.
Terry Collins is pissed at the press conference saying no one informed him about Flores. What the hell
According to Sandy Alderson Mets deal is not done and will not get done. I dont know if it relates to Wheelers medicals....
Hmm, now hearing that it was Alfaro, OF Nick Williams and RHP Jake Thompson - all considered top 100 prospects, plus Jerad Eickhoff and Alec Asher (top 30 org guys, both RHPs) and big leaguer Matt Harrison. This for Cole and a reliever Jake Diekman and some cash. Some people saying Philly got hosed, but that is actually a pretty solid deal.
Its a great haul by Philly. Anytime you get a handful of legit big league prospects and dump a 22M salary...thats a win for a last place club who after Mikael Franco and J P Crawford didnt have a whole lot of big time prospects close
Poor Wilmer, he cried for nothing. Now hes going to have see his tears in a vine for the rest of eternity.
You don't want YO. He's a cancer in the locker room and he's a liability on defense. Sights should be set on Carlos Gonzalez....
I cant be the only Yankee fan tired of hearing the George would do this or this or that crap over and over and over again.....
Youre in position to make a playoff run and could make a world series run this year if you execute some trades. If it doesnt happen and next year the Red Sox bounces back, youre going to hear about George more so get used to it. Hanging onto prospects just cause you dont want to spend some cash on pitchers. How do you know if Judge isnt LoMo anyways? Expecting Texeira and Rodriguez to play at this level next year is lunacy.
George was famous for wanting to trade any prospect/young player for a big name.. The guy outside of spending money did not have a ****ing clue. The Yankees finally have some prospects again and some want to rehash the past. What trade do you want them to do? Overpay for a Price who has already made it known he doesnt want to be a Yankee? The OF is set. The Bullpen unless they go overboard is set. The Rotation is what it is. Very little depth. I am hearing Price for Nova and Sanchez.. Sounds good right? Price replaces Nova in the rotation.. Well what about next year? Tanaka is not what we expected after the injuries. Pineda looks likes like he is already hitting a wall. Evodali has been a pleasant surprise and to be nice CC sucks. The days of the Yankees trading for every name out there they can are over. That team is now the Dodgers. Perhaps become a fan of them ~
Im not a fan of the Yankees, im a Marlins fan, but if you have a chance to win, you capitaliz and make the move. What youre telling me is that the Yankees are now the Chicago Bulls of the MLB. If thats what youre good with then go ahead, but it beyond ******ed to not make a move to win now.
The problem the Yankees are having is everyone is asking for Sevarino or judge for rentals and that's not worth it. Just like everyone was asking the mets for Harvey Syndergaard degrom matz and Conforto and that's not worth it. When your payroll structure is entirely out of whack like NYY and you have few young players on your roster that you can build around you need to hang on to at least a few. Cashman is doing the right thing imo. Deals can get done without those two involved.
The Yankees are not one player away. There is no reason to think they are nor a reason to overpay for a rental.
This Aaron Judge guy better be legit and not just a 6'7 Mark Reynolds. Lol his numbers arent even that impressive, his size and power is all i hear about that guy. 90 strikeouts in 90 games and this is minor league pitching, this guy screams Mark Reynolds.
So Kris Bryant is Mark Reynolds? 206 SO's in 181 games he must suck right? I mean its your logic here....( This is what happens when you look at one stat)
That Dodgers/Marlins/Braves trade doesn't make much sense for anyone other than the Dodgers, really. Sort of weird that L.A. had to give up so little to get big league talent for their rotation. I have to think there is another shoe dropping. If not, a rotation of Kershaw, Greinke, Anderson, Wood and Latos is fine. But three of those guys are free agents after the year once Greinke opts out. I can't imagine they want THAT much turnover year to year. and Morse makes no sense for L.A. either. First base and outfield positions are all set. Something else has got to be brewing. Braves get Olivera for fairly cheap, which I suppose makes for a potential good trade on their end. But dude is 30, already injured and never been in the big leagues. Seems risky to give up quality arms that can be controlled for years (Wood). And the Marlins...who the hell knows. That franchise is a complete head scratcher.
The Marlins got rid of two underperforming players, one that is batting .220 and the other has not a good year pitching wise. Morse hasnt been the same since he got off the juice. And lol comparing Kris and Judge, Kris is a far better prospect than Judge.
I didnt expect you to under stand it. I was comparing your logic with your one stat.. You proved me right.
Toronto has a short window with Bautista and encarnacion contracts coming up soon. Time to go for it is now
On a completely different not.....ATTENTION SANDY ALDERSON....YOENIS CESPEDES IS PROBABLY AVAILABLE NOW. GET HIM.
Yanks are in trouble, Jays got a lot better, yanks got worse, Rumor has it that Pineda and Nova are both hurt.
Nova is probably dead arm coming back from injury. I was worried about Pineda the guy just cant pitch a full season. Hope Cashman doesnt panic.
Same, I am glad we kept our farm intact up until this point. Price will be a Yankee next year, hopefully they continue to play well, and build a bigger lead

I dont know about that. Two reasons. Price has made it known he doesnt want to be a Yankee I dont see them going overboard for a long term pitching contract while still trying to stomach CC's contract(Pun). I guess they could eat the remainder and hope the same doesnt happen for Price or similar...
I hope CC can find a way to adapt to his loss of velocity. His deal was worth it because he was a huge part of the 09 World Series, but man, I see hes pitching today and I cant help but think, its going to be a long game. This Yankee team reminds me a lot of the late 90's yankees. Hopefully they have the same magic
The Pineda injury shouldn't be a surprise, like I said a week ago or so, last time he threw over 100 innings was 2011. Guy just can't stay healthy, which is a shame because he has tons of talent when he is. If I had to guess you'd think the Yankees are looking at Mike Leake right now.
Seeing the returns teams have gotten for Price and Cueto really makes me hate Clay Buchholz getting hurt even more. He might would have brought back a bigger haul, in the very least a similar one. Really hope the Sox make some moves due the Friday deadline to build towards the future. I'd absolutely look to deal Holt, Koji, possibly Tazawa.
