The Bosh situation seems pretty simple to me. If he's on blood thinners or if a doctor says he should be on blood thinners he is not going to play and no team doctor for any of the 29 other teams would clear him. The PA can do what they want but it won't matter

If he's not on blood thinners and the doctors say he can stay off and not be at risk for a recurrence then he can play

The only ugliness will come if Bosh wants to play against medical advice. I side completely with Heat on that one.

I think we already got there, at least a little, in the playoffs. He found one doctor...his Zorelto doctor... to clear him. The Boshes started that campaign on Twitter to let him play.

Can't fault the team. And personally, I think it's basically a certainty that another clot will arise. That's where it gets ugly. There's no good way for the team to force him into retirement with money being at the forefront.

Im not sure it is that cut and dry. Didn't he go off thinners before, then another clot developed? If he goes off them now, what are the chances of re-occurance? Can the Heat not let him play if there is a 50% chance?

Beyond that, youre likely going to find doctors with varying opinions.

So the Nets have signed Allen Crabbe and Tyler Johnson thus far to RFA sheets. If they land both I think those will be huge long-term signings for them. Especially love the Crabbe signing - wish Miami made an offer to him.

It could easily get complicated. Say the Heat's team doctor thinks he can't play, Bosh goes and gets multiple doctors to say he can....then its a fight. Bosh has a LOT of money due to him if he plays, I'm not sure if he gets his money if he's medically forced to retire but if he doesn't he may fight it. Tough situation, Bosh seems like a decent guy.

If this is anything like it was last year it might be tough for him to get clearance from multiple doctors. He was trying to get clearance for the playoffs and went to multiple doctors and could not get them to sign off. I think only one did and he was a very questionable doctor.

If he is still on the blood thinners I think he is toast. I agree I hate it for him, Bosh is a good dude.

there WASN'T 40 practices in the entire season. Maybe 20..tops.

I'm sure the team meets a lot more than 40 times a year, he may have just been saying 'practices' to over simplify things, I don't know. Still do you really think this is completely made up? Whiteside is a supremely talented big man who couldn't find an NBA team to sign him for a few years, there was something very obviously wrong with him. I mean anyone 7 feet that has a heart beat can make an NBA roster somewhere.

You have to wonder what is going to happen now that this is HIS team, if he tunes out the coaching staff and the vets on the team it could be ugly.

If he can get his money or most of it he probably should retire. Blood clots are not something to roll the dice on, he's got a family and he's got enough money to live a wealthy lifestyle for the rest of his life, me? I'd retire and move on.

Bosh's contract is fully guaranteed.

He gets every cent whether he ever steps on the floor again or not.

If he retires though we can clear his contract off the books in February

It's more complicated than that. Bosh will indeed get paid the remainder of his contract regardless. But the Heat will collect on an insurance policy for a very large chunk of it, and the Heat CAN wipe the contract from their salary cap ledger if Bosh misses more than a year and then an independent doctor chosen by the Heat and the NBAPA reviews Bosh's case and concludes he cannot continue his career.

If we are going to try to force Bosh into retirement believe me things will definitely get ugly and the media will give us a lashing for it. Theyll look at it as, rileys way to get out of a bad contract he does not want on his cap.

Those could also potentially be awful contracts that continue to set that franchise back. Those are two players that have yet to even become starters in the NBA.

Certain people will view it that way but I think if you trot out doctor after doctor after doctor who says:

1. The recurrence of a blood clot within a year means he should probably be on thinners for the rest of his life, and
2. Being on thinners means you just can't play a contact sport like the NBA because you could die.

...then a very large number of people will understand the Heat and an army of doctors insisting that Bosh should probably retire.

Shoot arounds...yes. Shoot arounds on the road (41 of them) , the team gets on a bus.

So if you believe Stephen A, you believe he was late to every single shoot around at home except for 1.

I am calling EXTREME Bull**** on this, and YES, it was probably made up or fed to him by somebody with a grudge.

Think for yourself, and put aside your HATE for ONE second. Everybody on the team says nobody worked harder than Hassan all year, and the guy went from a disaster at the free throw line to RELIABLE in the span of one year. He also added a jump shot. he also began to pass better by seasons end.

You really think he didn't WORK to improve all that?

Of course there's that risk. The contracts are definitely large, but I think both players, especially Crabbe, have a lot of promise. I'm still having a hard time contextualizing what a player is worth with the new contracts being thrown around.

He plays..he is a 21 and 8 guy in his sleep. One of the best PF's in all of the NBA, and an elite defender. PERIOD.

You want his cap space, or you want that MEGA ASSET? It's good either way.

I don't see why they would trade Dragic. You want to have good players on your team to recruit other good players to your team unless Riley plans on building another Big 3 with Russ, Griffin, and Greek Freak.

IMO not matching on TJ is good business, and I'd actually think keeping him would be closer to rebuilding than letting him go. He's not a guy that is taking you to the playoffs next year. IF he pans out, it's probably more of a long term thing.

If they were rebuilding....wouldn't they match TJ's offer sheet to retain the asset, and then trade him in a package?

Windy is bad at this pundit/speculation game.

I don't see the obsession with TJ. The guy is simply not worth that contract, especially the end of it. Doesn't mean the Heat are rebuilding; it means they're not as stupid as the Nets.

I can justify it either way. Match, or don't. Doesn;t matter much. If it's me? I want the asset.

By the way, the Heat don't have to have a high pick, or even be a lottery team to get a very good player in next year's draft. To put into perspective how good this upcoming draft class could be:

Oh, I want the asset! But I don't think that asset will be able to play. I personally believe he will end up with the same problem again and again costing us a chance at building a competitive team in the next few seasons.
