Just for fun, I thought we could have a official coundown for the 1972 Dolphins. I know it's only week 2, but right now there are only 10 teams left undefeated. After tonight's Dallas/New York Giants game, there will only be 9. If we beat the Colts tomorrow night it will be down to 8. Below is a list of the remaining unbeatens.
Denver 2-0
Baltimore 2-0
New York J. 2-0
Indianapolis 1-0
Dallas 1-0
New York G. 1-0
San Francisco 2-0
Atlanta 2-0
New Orleans 2-0
Minnesota 2-0

I don't know if Drew Breese stays healthy you could see the Saints make a run.

Scratch Dallas off...

Bye-bye Dallas, now there are 9 left.
-
SF @ MINN in week 3 will eliminate another one.
-
the only 2 teams i'm worried about is baltimore and new orleans
-
None of those teams give me cause for concern, I'll bet there are only 1-2 left by week 5

I don't ever want to see any team break our '72 record.
But, at the same time, we were the first and nothing can take that away from us.
IMO no team has had the blood and guts playing that those guys had. I wish we had it now. I'd love some old, hard hitting, down in the trenches football that scares the heck out of other teams. -
-
I see only 3 threats on that list, NY Giants, NO Saints and the Ravens. Out of those teams i think NY is the best team but i dont think any one of them will make it that deep into the season.
-
Also the year the patriots went 18-1, they were a lot better then the teams left, and they could not do it, i honestly think our record is safe for a real long time... If you think about it, since 1972 there has only been one real moment where our record was in serious jeopardy

I hope no team ever matches or exceeds the record. Most records have been held by many people or teams but the Dolphin unbeaten 72 record is singular and only held by the Dolphins. Its a special record that everyone watches every year to see if it will be broken.
It has been such a source of pride and has given the Dolphins fans something other fans and teams envy even in the Dolphins darkest times.dolphindebby likes this. -

This is the first week that I thought about it and to be honest, I think the Colts and the Giants both have a real shot at it this year. If Peyton continues to play this way with backups, he will be even better once he gets his full set of weapons back.
And the Giants have looked very very good early on. The east, even though weaker than usual, could still give them some fits though. -
Colts remaining games:
@ Rams
49ers
Texans
Patriots
@ Ravens
@ Texans
Titans
Broncos
@ Jaguars
Jets
@ Bills
5 games vs winning teams. Colts finish 15-1. -
Now there were 4 left.
New York Giants lost today to New Orleans and the Denver Broncos play Monday night at San Diego.
Denver 5-0
Minnesota 6-0
New Orleans 5-0
Indianapolis 5-0 (bye week) -
Week 8
With the Denver Broncos losing today, now we are down to 2 teams left.
Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints.
Funny thing is, we had both of those teams on the ropes at our house and let them off the hook.
