have you guys seen some of the games we have in the second half of the season? Seahawks, Raiders, Pats, Rams, 49ers, Chiefs. and you're telling me we can't win at least 6 games? Outrageous.
or expect because they're playing bad at one time they'll continue to be bad. the rams beat the cowboys for christs sake. it's not who you play it's when you play them.
No they are getting weaker bro. They are. It seems like a pitcher who's pitching every other day and isnt getting enough rest after Tommy John surgery. Maybe he ended up at 80 whatever but around half time the guy was at 40 something and had thrown a pick 6.
Typical kneejerk reactions. Because all of those teams are also fielding the best defense in the league. All of those games are very winnable. That would put Miami at 8-8. Drop two of them and you still have 6 wins this season.
Yes the secondary sucks, but we knew that going in. What's really killing this team is the D-line and Linebackers (minus Porter, the only great player on D).The D-line is being pushed around. We get 0 penetration on runs and passes. Porter is the only LB who gets in the backfield consistently. Our draft is going to look like LB, LB, CB, DL.
Miami could win those games and think they will beat SEA, OAK, NE, SF and KC. That is 5 wins right there it isn't all doom and gloom and if this team plays up to their competition like they did against SD next week they will win. I know it may sound ridiculous to think Miami stands a chance next week but this a very up and down team and anything can happen.
I am looking at the game again as we speak and Goodman and Hill missed a TON of tackles...but so did alot of people on the defense. They are just giving up so much room on each pattern and YAC. Couple weeks in a row of the same.
Why were we happy for three points before the half, rather then concentrating on getting a touchdown? That one made me shake my head.
They got punched in the face by Arizona too and responded very well. Young teams need that kind of stuff sometimes. Maybe the Houston game was too close to have the desired effect. I could imagine them having a strong showing against Buffalo but I dont know.. Lee Evans is really good.
can someone explain the 2 personal foul calls on us in that drive? i was watching a tv with no sound, and it bothers me that they didn't show EITHER of them on a replay, leading me to believe they were b.s. calls. ???
yup, that's the point that i turned the game for a little while...absolutely unbelievable. we're never going to win anything playing it safe.
I couldn't even watch today after the Texans loss (which now hurts even worse as the Fins could be 3-3 instead of 2-4). However from what I've gathered it was once again the secondary that let the team down. Although that sucks for this year I am at least glad that this year we know that a single problem needs to be fixed whereas last year it looked like everyone from the coaches down to the players had to be replaced (which did happen). So I am optimistic that in the offseason through the draft and FA that this team can build a decent secondary and play for a playoff spot next year. I truly think that this is that transitional year where the pieces are almost in place and after the debacle last year I thought this progress could still be another two years away. Although I am not encouraged by what appears to be another losing season I am thrilled to see that the team is being built and can be a playoff contender in a year. I also understand that I may be jumping the gun as this team could fall apart and not win another game and so I will render my final judgment after the season but for now things are looking good for the long terms We got to be realistic and note the progress that is happening. We all want to win now but we have to look at the positives. Of course I still wish we could have turned it around this year and have been winners as I was so pumped after getting to 2-2 and when I thought we had the Texans beat (I think that's why I took the loss so hard). Also I have to admit that I have lost my huge amount of excitement that I had two weeks ago and when I thought the Fins had the Texans beat and would be 3-2 and seemingly a current playoff team. I have come to the realization though that I have to look for the positives and I encourage everyone else to do the same. Like I said last week this will be a roller coaster.
Oh yeah, I thought they'd start Henne for the 2nd half and thought that he could come in and energize the Offense with some quick strikes we all know he's capable of and 'boom' we could win it. Once I saw we were down by 14 I knew it was over because you cant come back when your D is playing very average and your QB cant throw it for more than 5-6 yards a pop unless the WR/TE is wide open ...even then by the time the ball gets there the D-back will have the time to try and knock it down or make the sure tackle... Heck, thats even if the ball is not a jump ball (as usual) and the WR/TE has to risk life and limb to stretch and grab it before they get their clock cleaned.
Ginn better stay on kick returns, I'd like to see him on punt returns too but he at the very least has to stay on kick returns. I don't blame Pennington for the loss like some might, the pick 6 was more of a result of Suggs breaking off his man than a terrible decision by Pennington. It was a high risk, high reward play for Suggs because Cobbs had plenty of space in front of him if that ball got to him... Obviously it rewarded Suggs and not us. We need to draft a nose tackle in the first two rounds because Ferguson is going to be 34 this November. It's obvious that's why our run defense sucked in the 2nd half. In my opinion, the first day of the draft should primarily focus on NT/DT, LB, CB, and WR. I think NT/DT and CB are the most important areas with LB and WR being a draw. I think we can go 8-8 still, but I'd say that 6-10 is looking more likely... Either way, it's a big improvement from last year...
I hope they do the same here as nothign would make me happier...but its something that needs to be bottled up and sold so to speak every week because if they come out swinging one game, win and then next game they are meh again its no good.
From the way I understood, Pennington seen an opening and called an audible. I honestly don't think on the 3rd down before the half (where we scored a field goal to bring us to 6) we called a running play. Brown was about to go into motion and Pennington called him back. When Pennington went to the sidelines, he was pointing, talking to some coach (I can't remember who, might have been Sparano but I'm not sure) as if he was explaining what he saw. I think Pennington noticed there was a 3 man front and plenty of room in the middle for Brown to make a play. He gets past that defensive line, I'm thinking he scores. Obviously he didn't get past the line and it looked like a bad coaching decision... Not trying to place blame on anyone, but explaining why we ran in that 3rd and 11 situation.. I disagreed with it, but if my observation is correct, it's hard to blame the coaching staff on that call...
Okay I asked another Dolphin fan during the game, please give me your answer. Did our offense look bad, intimidated, or just bad play calling?
i wouldn't say intimidated, we were making long strikes through the air throughout the game. the running game looked bad, but thats to be expected against the ravens. therefore i'd say i was most upset about the playcalling on offense.
I'm sure I said the same thing last year...and I'm sure I was right. No, they got passed on all day by NYJ, Arizona, Houston AND Baltimore. They've stunk four weeks out of six. What are you basing your optimism on?
They looked bad and there was some bad play calling... Our run game was getting absolutely no where, just no where. The pass game was looking much more efficient than the run game though... I thought the Wildcat formation was used too much though...
Because of childcare responsibilities, I only got to watch the fourth quarter. Couldn't have been worse. It was like watching the Arizona game, except we were at home. We made Joe Flacco look like a $^%$@%$ hall of famer. And what was with Pennington throwing underneath on 3 and 10 and 4th and 7? Why run the Wildcat on 3 and 10? Our defense was humiliated. Our OL was humiliated. Our team was humiliated.
