So Kobe drops 61 and Pau drops 31. Did NY even play in this game?! Good lord.

Bad luck for him and Oden the past few years. But I guess bigs have a pretty high injury probability.

This is the Knicks we're talking about. :tongue2:

And Rondo's a punk. Kobe goes over to pick up Lamar and Rondo shoves him.

We gotta message for the Celts: SWEEP

Good game yesterday. These two teams just matchup fairly well against each other.

I am still trying to figure out why Ray wanted a foul call on the last shot. When he went up and shot, there isn't a Laker with two feet of him. He fell because he rolled his own ankle. Good non-call by the refs.

Big win for L.A. and this team has rallied on this road trip quite nicely.

I think you're right. I think this is a move to help sign Lamar Odom long term more than anything else. The Lakers pocket a little bit of money long term and get rid of a player who Phil never seemed to like all that much for a former lottery pick who needs a change of scenary and a point guard that has some potential to play behind Farmar in the future. Overall though, it is just a move to help keep LO in town beyond this year.

Not a fan of the move but I can understand it.

Morrison wasn't even that good of a shooter compared to Vlad. Heck, Vlad was shooting better, has better size, and the one player who can make Vlad look All-Defense is Morrison. I think he's just fodder thrown in. Real catch is Brown.

    [IMG] and
    [IMG]

In fact it might actually be worse...

My thoughts exactly. Vlad was owed $6 mil. Brown could develop into a nice backup SG or a defensive PG to backup Farmar in the future. He was pretty impressive in the win against us. Morrison's really just the throw in. Of course, a good friend of mine on the Lakers is eager to reminisce about a certain Sweet 16 game with him. :shifty:

Why would you want to sign him long term? You guys need to get rid of this dead weight while you can.

LO's not bad of a player when he's motivated. The Boston game showed that. Not too many SF/PF options out there.

He's great in games that dont matter. But when the Lakers need him to step up he dissapears. IMO, Ariza is a better option. He doesn't need the ball and he's a great slasher and defender.

True but it'd still be best for the team to get LO or someone of his caliber because of what he brings to the table in terms of rebounding and passing.

..No more Vlad Rad...I'm not sure what to think of this...
    The Los Angeles Lakers
and Charlotte Bobcats made a dead weight for dead weight deal on Saturday that could serve both teams well - swapping Vladimir Radmanovic for Adam Morrison. The Lakers also receive 6'4" guard Shannon Brown who hadn't found a consistent role for Coach Larry Brown and the Bobcats.

Former players helping a former coach/teammate. Worked for the Celtics.

Rumor has it we're shopping Morrison too since he's an expiring contract. Radio said preliminary discussions held with Suns....

How hilarious would it be if Morrison + others turned in to Amare.

edit: Nevermind, I forgot that if Morrison is traded again, he can't be packaged with other players. Stupid NBA rules. :pity:

Beating the Celtics and Cavs on the road in the same week solidifies the Lakers as the best team in the NBA right now. Both Celtic wins halted long winning streaks and the Cavs suffered their worst loss of the season in L.A., and followed it up with their first home loss of the season against a Lakers team that was sans Bynum and playing with a sick Kobe Bryant and a short bench due to the trade.

Great game by Odom, and Gasol is great as usual.

When Kobe shoved Pav out of the way was that legal? I didnt think you were allowed to do that? Odom seems to play better at the 4. Or is that just me?

It happens in pretty much every game. No reason to single Kobe, or anyone else out. Like Moody said, Jordan did it it practically every game.

And as for Odom, I think he is the definition of a tweener. His position is probably best described as a 3.5. I suppose he plays better at the four, provided that the opposing PF isn't a big strong guy who just goes through him. That is when he is better off at the three.

Overall, his talent seems to be limitless, except for the fact that he never seems to put it all together each and every night.

What Kobe did is no different from what all good players do. They usually get away with it. Odom's certainly been more active recently though I don't think it has that much to do with the 4 spot because he's been in it for a while. He can score as a 4 though defensively he might not be as good against the better or stronger PF's.

Against lighter PF's sure. Against much stronger PF's like Tim Duncan who can post him up, he's still a bit of a liability.

You're stuck in 2004. I haven't seen Odom struggle against a large PF in years. Duncan plays C anyway now so he doesn't have to deal with that. I can't think of a single team that has a PF too big for Odom. Maybe Pheonix with Amare, but Odom takes it right back to him.

Odom is 6-10, 240 right now, he's definitely PF sized and hasn't played SF since last year where he struggled there. If Bosh is a PF then Odom is definitely a PF. Half of the time he guards Cs anyway because those teams don't have a bruiser there. Against Denver and Utah in the playoffs he took on Camby and Okur. He almost always takes on Kendrick Perkins.

Duncan was the only one who used to victimize Odom, but Kurt Thomas can't pound Odom.

Odom's changed quite a bit over the years, he used to be much more of a flair player. He's become more of a balanced PF. He was a finesse PF for a couple of years from 2004-2005 but right around the end of the regular season in 2005-2006 he was switched to PF and finally took off in the triangle (nowhere like the last two games though). He was probably at his heaviest then at 245 lbs.

I'll tell you this much he's certainly no weaker than Kevin Garnett. He's actually quite strong but he's long-limbed so at times he looks skinny. He's not at all though. He takes contact pretty well too.

Depends on your definition of struggle but I've seen him go one on one with Duncan this year on switches and Duncan just overpowers him. Matt Bonner is listed as C on depth charts....

Duncan has very rarely in his career played center. Bonner is that starting C.
