He actually won the starting job in NJ but when was offered it, he said no thanks. He wanted to come off the bench. With Yi, Brook Lopez, Najera, Anderson and Boone, I could see why he wouldn't get time. I still think he's a better defender than all those guys but the Nets have some other thoughts lol.

Whether or not we make a big move (Kaman or someone like that) is dependent on whether or not Riley sees enough in this current team to abandon the 2010 plan.

I don't think he's interested in tying up a ton of cap space for anybody less than a superstar. This team can compete for the palyoffs in the East as constructed right now.

Making the playoffs is meaningless if you can't win in them.

I don't know D. I think its something to build on when you make the playoffs, especially if you have a young team.

From Riley's perspective, the goal is to win titles. If you can make a move for a guy who will get you to the Finals, do it.

    Worked for Boston.

Kaman seems like a pretty good fit but would the Heat be interested? He's owed a good chunk of money, so I assume that'd put an end to any hopes they might have of pursuing one of the bigger name FA's next year. I know the Clippers were rumored to be open to the idea of dealing Kaman due to the arrival of Camby, but Dunleavy did come out and say the report was bogus.

Right, but a guy to get you to the Finals needs to be out there. I like Kaman, but he's not the missing piece.

Riley's spent to much time and effort getting this team in position for 2010 (or hell, even next year when Kobe is a free agent and you want to dream) that I don't think he's willing to squander it for anything less than a superstar.

Once you get in, anything can happen. Look at ATL almost knocking out Boston last year.

Making the playoffs means a ton if you were 15-67 the previous season. It would be a hell of an achievement for this basketball team.

Marion / Banks for Kaman / Mobley is probably the max we'd have to offer. I don't really see Dunleavy going for such a deal, but hey, I'd be thrilled if he did. Chris Kaman is worthy of far more than that in terms of overall value, unless you're gunning for an expiring contract and nothing more. I really don't understand why a team would try to get rid of a productive 26-year old center, though.

Honestly, I wouldn't give up much at all for Shawn Marion at this point. If I'm Miami, I'd consider moving Marion / Banks for Marbury just to get rid of Banks' contract. Marion is just a poor fit here, as I've stated time and time again.

I'm thinking Marbury gets released a little later this year and unless Riley is very impressed with Chalmers, I think that Marbury could very well end up in Miami. He targeted Miami as one of the teams he was interested in earlier this year when the whole soap opera started. I can't recall the other team.

Marion, Banks for Kaman and Mobley is highway robbery. They would have to give us someone besides Mobley, atleast I would hope so. As for Starbury, don't get your hopes up too high. He's all about the money, which means he will sit on that bench and collect that cash until he gets bench burn.

Seems like the Heat would be making out pretty well in that trade to me, too. Of course it all depends how much the Heat want that salary cap flexibility. I dont think the Clippers will trade him. The Bobcats made an offer and were turned down, and that's what started the idea that the Clippers were shopping him. It sounds like they approached us though.

Keep an eye on the Heat. :wink2:

Why? I know there had been talks of moving Beasley to SF after Marion leaves and then pursuing a 4 and a 5. Couldn't Boozer play the 4 for you guys?

Beasley can be a DOMINANT scorer at the 4 and a perenial all-star.

I wouldn't risk losing that by moving him to the 3.

So then where the heck does Bosh fit? I'm presuming we're rehashing the Boozer vs Bosh debate.

Bosh has played center in Toronto. And what i think section means by bad fit is, Boozer is horrible defensively and we need more of a defensive big man. i don't know how good bosh is defensively, though he cant be worse than boozer.

DID NOT like what i saw on replay from Coach Spoelstra.

He lost his cool several times during the game, and it is only game 10.

I hope he dials back the Stan Van Gundy act and emulates riley more.

I am amazed at Ira's latest blog pondering whether or not he'd trade Beasley for Caron Butler straight up (random thought, not an actual rumor). Are you ****ing kidding me? I mean, please. Give me a break. People are already talking negative about the kid. He's 19 years old. 19. Nineteen. 19. 19. 19. 19. 19. 19. Years. Old. 19 years old. Yes. 19 years old. 24? No. 19. 19 years old. Not 31. 19.

The guy doesn't hit 20 until 2009. It's normal for him to be EXTREMELY inconsistent.

Anyone excited to see Wade starting to drop 3's?!? :D :D :D

I mean, we've all been waiting for that. Its been the one glaring hole in his offensive repertoire. Its HUGE for him. I mean, it helps so much with his 4th quarter comebacks. Not to mention, it forces defenders to not play off him so much... allowing him to blow by them easier.

And of course, developing more of a perimeter game will help preserve his body from the abuse of constantly slashing...

Hes gaining more and more confidence in that shot as the season goes on...

Well when the rook PF is calling you out on your shot and has a better long range jumper than you it prob. worked wonders on his training.

What amazes me is how good he is so soon in his career. With the right people around him we could have a dynasty.
