    Gotta tell you brother.

As good as it was in April for both the D-backs and Dodgers, both teams have been struggling in May. Could very easily see the 'Dres picking up a game or 4 before its over.

Looks like the Padres cut Edmonds. Shame for them because they really could use a power hitter like him with Gonzalez really the only productive offensive player on the roster right now (and a mighty fine round 17th fantasy pick for me).

Bro the best thing they could of done was release him and his 7 million dollar contract. He was awful in center, and was batting .180. It just didn't work out for him or the Padres. Just to think they missed out on Fukedome (Sp) from the Cubs.

I know. It's a shame for them it didn't work out. If it makes you feel better, we've got a dud in Andruw Jones.

We had this conversation earlier. He was absolutely BRUTAL in the outfield..and hitting .180 just aint gonna cut it. Might go down as one of the all-time worst FA signings of the year.

Fukedome is a "Nice" player, but wouldnt have spent what the Cubs did.

Bro I feel for you there. Are the fans still giving him the business? I have not been into baseball the last two weeks or so. I have started to watch the last two games again.

I hear you brother Kenny, but we could have signed Mike Cameron back for less who was great with the glove in center. Even though he would have missed the first 25 games to suspension, he wanted to stay here in San Diego.

Actually, if you are gonna spend the green, Fukedome along with Cameron really wouldve been some quality depth and options.

It was going to be one or the other. We also have our owner that is right in the middle of a divorce in John Moores.

Some of the rumors of possible trades should the Padres continue to lose. A name being mentioned a lot right now is Maddox (P). Iguchi (2B), Wolf (P) and Giles (RF) could be possible trades as well.

I am for bringing up Chase Headly for left field and Antonelli for 2nd base. Bring the kids up, and trade for some future talent now. I know it's early but this team is done. Someone here locally predicted 90 wins for this team.

Peevey and Young on the DL, Ledzma was terrible last nigh vs the Reds.

    Worst record in the Majors..ouch....:pity:

On the plus side, dual fans of the Dolphins and Padres may hit on a rare daily double...

This is very true bro. Phil Nevin who is part of the pre-game show on the radio was saying he believes Kevin Towers hands are tied some what on making trades, and trying to turn this around. I am not sure if that is Sandy Alderson, or John Moores going through a divorce that may be causing that.

Any idea when Peavy returns? The last thing I want to have is Andy Pettitte as a fantasy injury replacement.

He's having another MRI tomorrow because he still has some discomfort I believe. Sounds like you'll have Pettitte for a bit longer...

The Padres got there bats going now, so let's hope the pitching can hang on for Young, and Peavy to return. Making a little push right now which is nice. It is great to longer be the worst team in the league.

There was fans calling into Double XX 1090 post game show today saying they should send Khalil Greene down to Triple A to work on his batting. He is a streaky hitter, and his defense is just awesome. I say get Khalil to work with Tony Gywnn, and get some help from one of the best hitters to play the game, and let him work through this.:wink2:

Estes goes on DL with fractured thumb.

    http://www3.signonsandiego.com/news/2008/may/31/estes-goes-dl-fractured-thumb-padres-call-guevara/

Jake Peavy, encouraged by how his elbow has responded in flat-ground throwing sessions, said he expects to pitch for the Padres within two weeks. "That's realistic, absolutely," he said.
    Notes
-- Left fielder Paul McAnulty confirmed what a telecast of Friday's game appeared to show -- that pitcher Greg Maddux voiced displeasure to McAnulty in the dugout for hesitating on a throw to the plate. McAnulty had caught a one-out flyball with the Giants' Fred Lewis on third base, then hesitated before throwing late. It appeared McAnulty either thought there were two outs or forgot Lewis was on third. He declined to specify what he thought but said he "messed up," adding, "It's all on me, I take full responsibility. There are no excuses for that play, zero."

Banks Twirls Impressive 6 hitter. Rookie righty for his first complete game.

    http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/news...ntent_id=2807344&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=sd

SAN FRANCISCO -- It was only after the Padres sent their third pitcher to the disabled list in the last 11 days when manager Bud Black, tongue in cheek, suggested before Saturday's game that rookie pitcher Josh Banks throw nine scoreless innings.
The funny thing was that Black nearly got what he wished for, as the 25-year-old Banks took a shutout into the ninth inning of only his second Major League start before settling for a complete-game victory as the Padres topped the Giants, 5-1, at AT&T Park.
