Cute... Here's another match game A. Andrew Luck B. Robert Griffin III C. Ryan Tannehill D. Russel Wilson 1. Led his team to the playoffs 3 times, Super 2 times and Won a Super Bowl. Has a 36-14 regular season record and 6-2 playoff record. 2. Never made the playoffs or had a winning record. Has a 24-26 regular season record and has NO playoff record. 3. Led his team to the playoffs his rookie season, got hurt and has sucked since. Has a 14-21 record and an 0-1 playoff record. 4. Drafted by a 2-14 team and has led them to 3 straight 11-5 seasons, 2 division titles, played for the conference championship. Has a 33-17 regular season record and a 3-3 playoff record.
and none of these qbs would have sniffed the playoffs if they played for the dolphins during that time. love how you trot out team accomplishments and give the qb the credit. and i think that is really where most of the detractors fall. they cant seperate the team from the qb. it's beyond them to be able to analyze a qbs play independently from the rest of the team. they default to if the team is playing well so must the qb, if the team is playing poorly so must the qb. its the short bus school of scouting
Youre right. Most Dolphins fans just dont want to admidt we finally have a great QB, instead we "make up" reasons to believe the QB of our fav team in the world still needs to improve on.
I have said it on here before, but any time I've watched a game with a friend who likes the team the Dolphins were playing....they always say "wow Tannehill was a lot better than I was expecting". They hear and see what Dolphins fans say and write on social media sites and just assume it's true. I never see other teams' fans compiling overthrows their qb had and posting the videos online. Then the go to reply is "well I just remember Marino".
LOL...I would fall in love with the play of a QB that hasn't completed a pass over 50 yards in 883 attempts. But I know it is Ross', Philbin, Lazor's, Coyle's, the O-Line's, the RBs, and the WR's fault. And I'm sure I am missing more people and players out there whose fault it is. In the meantime...Mariota threw one longer on his 3rd pass. Winston threw one in his second game. Manziel threw 2 of them this week. That's what you like about his game? Interesting...and you probably wonder why the offense has only averaged 15 points per game against Washington and Jacksonville and scored 16 points or less in 4 of the last 8 games during another end of the season collapse. I might be unusual, but that's not really to my liking.
actually both are true. we do have a great QB and like every qb there is room for improvement. The few instances when he has time to survey and a receiver gets open you see it. ball gets there in a heartbeat on target. he is one of the most accurate passers i have seen when given the time. his middle game, where a qbs career is made or broken is an A plus. Seriously, how many QBs are better flinging the ball 10 to 25 yards? i just want to see this guy play with a real offensive line. I suspect he's going to tear up the league if he ever gets one. Remember that game against the raiders last year when he had time. what did he connect on? 17 straight completions or something like that? when he gets time he is a beast. sadly this is like watching marino's career again. our team cant surround him with the right talent and we risk wasting his career too just like marino's
i think andrew luck and russell wilson both for some strange reason lost the ability to will their teams to victory.
and yet tannehill is better than all three which shows how insignificant deep passes are in the overall game of a QB. I know why the offense has sucked and thats because of the offensive line. Been that way all of Tanny's career. I'm surprised he doesnt have ken o brien syndrome by now but it just goes to show you what a tough SOB he is. The offensive line is everything. not just for QBs but for RBs too. Its football 101 and anyone that doesnt get it doesnt get football
Also forgetting Nick Foles who in a very similar offense two years ago posted the second highest single-season QB rating at 119.2 and led his team to the playoffs. Also has a career 16-10 record. Heck, even Ryan Lindley got a crack at the playoffs...lol
I would love to post videos online of long TD passes, but there aren't any. When is the last time you have seen a long TD pass by Tannehill? Take your time. I know you'll have to go back a couple of years looking it up on the internet. Never mind, I stand corrected...there was that one gif in training camp I remember seeing floating around in a sig.
LOL...it's the Henne + Hennehill, I mean Tannehill. Honestly, do you see much difference in their game? Both made a living by dinking and dunking, throwing for 5 yards on 3rd and 7. Tannehill more athletic so can break off some runs. Henne a better arm so connected on more deep passes. I think Henne led us to back-to-back 7-9 seasons with less talent. Not too far off from Tannehill's 7-9, 8-8 and 8-8 seasons. Correction...Henne had a 7-6, 6-8, 0-4 record. Here is a state for you...in 31 career starts Henne had 4 game winning drives (13% of games he led a drive in the 4th quarter that put the Dolphins ahead for good winning the game). In 50 starts Tannehill has done it 5 times (10% of Games).
In fact, since it's all Thills fault anyway maybe we should let him play the Mike and QB the defense too. Couldn't hurt.
thats just not correct, your acting like some of us dont really dont spend a lot of time thinking about this before we speak on it...insulting Luck and tying it into how some of express what we feel that is our qbs weaknesses, and trying to figure out if hes the guy to take us on the road and win playoffs games, is just kinda weak. debate the freakin topic..dont throw childish insults at the board.
People are STILL *****ing about the deep ball? We know Tannehill struggles in that area. We also should know by now that a deep ball doesn't make or break a QB. It's a completely overrated statistic.
I know all the folks on this board would love nothing more than to believe like you or Res do, but just because were not there yet and we may see things differently doesnt mean were right, you could be right, we may not be accounting enough for variables out of his control, I do know that I watch him make every rep, multiple times and try my best to isolate his play while accounting for everything, maybe you all are seeing it more clearly, I know that some of us are not even talking about regular season games, were talking about will the game in isolation hold up on the road in playoff atmoshere...im just not there yet, so that doesnt mean totally childish sarcastic remarks when Luck overthrows a pass is neccesary in the debate, its not, its generlizing on steroids..waste of energy.
This is your argument? That Tannehill is no better than Henne? C'mon man. That last stat you posted is ridiculous. How many times has each had an opportunity? How many times has each failed? Succeeded? How many times did they leave the field late in the 4th with a lead until the defense blew it? Here's a stat for you, in a tie game with less than 4 minutes to go, Tannehill's quarterback rating is 97.5. Chad Henne's? 8.9.
geez man..all context is now lost in the debate..its all over.. Wilson, Luck, and ryan need to all start back at 0...lets do it again..
just my 2 cents DJ alot of this is because of the way some fans and especially the media treat the two qb's. andrew luck is the poster boy for the future of NFL qb's(some people putting him in top 3 qb's in the nfl which is laughable IMO). when his oline plays like **** and pressure is getting to him and he is throwing picks and coughing up the football there is always an excuse why it isn't luck's fault(just look at the espn telecast, they were bending over backwards to defend his play) for playing the way he has, yet for tannehill all the oline problems is just an excuse and it is his fault for his play.
That's fine DJ but your side has people comparing tannehill to Chad Henne. The sarcastic comments are aimed at them not you or Finomenal. For some reason you have some wackos on your side
why? all we hear is how amazing these 2 are and how they can literally will their teams to victory. seattle's defense has gone in the toilet and luck's oline has crapped out and for some reason they now look pedestrian yet we can 't criticize them but sure as **** can rake tannehill over the coals. lie what was said above this is aimed at the tannehill= henne or bring in moore wackos not people like you with legit takes. i think it is fair to criticize the flaws in tannehill's game but when you read **** like he is henne or tannehill lost the jacksonville game it does tend to piss some people off.
I still think were a better board and better members than to make large generizations just being throw around.. heres the thing about luck and wilson..To me I feel like ive seen them reach levels of play offensively without great olines and great skill players around them, {luck with absolutely no run game} levels of play that can withstand pressure on the road in playoff conditions and make plays..so if there having rough starts in their 4th year im gonna look elsewhere to blame. you have no way of comparing what they have done in their careers to ryan because he has not played in playoff games on the road...so were trying to marry the variables with his skillset and project what it may be like..
He has played in do or die games the past two years and has not delivered. Last two games in 2013, and the NY Jets, Baltimore and NE game last year, although I think our chances were slim in NE. We are two games in, Tanny played well for one game, Wilson and Luck (Luck actually pretty bad) have looked meh for two. Let the season play out. Tanny looked good yesterday.
Hmm, where have I seen this before?
Also, fun fact from Nogles:
in the media this is a legit excuse for luck yet is just an excuse for tannehill its part of the problem.
You know what cracks me the hell up. All you sobbing and defending Andrew Luck, which was the point of all this. People hammer 17, which is fine, but hes the QB of your team Youll go to Egypt and back to defend a Luck or a Wilson...but not the QB of your own team. All you have to do is read back through last few pages...its unreal.
Christ...he had one TD and 3 picks last night...has Tannehill ever had as bad a stat line? Yall have no problem saying Tannehill sucks...but you cant even say Luck does...even for one game. Hello...news flash...Luck Sucked Last Night. Lemme hear yall say it. LUCK SUCKED LAST NIGHT.
Dudes a great Qb...I get that. But hes been the beneficiary of playing in an abysmal division. Hes regressed this season...and yeh...I like 17 hes my QB so damned right I like seeing Luck suck..nee ner nee ner
It's pretty pathetic isnt it? Sometimes, I think as a fanbase, most of us here deserve exactly what we get. We finally have a good QB, and everyone still *****es like a bunch of ****ing babies, and want's someone else. If Luck was our QB this year, with what he's done the first two weeks, some of our fans would already be running his *** out of town, even with what "he" has accomplished. It's pathetic. It's like some of you want Tannehill and this team to fail, so we can move on to the next "This guy is not a franchise QB" thread. All you have to do, is look at the mess in front of Luck and Tannehill on the OL and you'll understand where these issues are coming from. Mind you, some of those throws last night looked like some bad decisions from Luck as well.
What I've learned in this thread: Win/Loss record is the only stat a QB should be judged on.... ...and to know if a QB is going to make your record better he has to have "it".... Oh, and deep balls are now 50+ yards.
I'm sure it has something to do with Jags and Redskins defenses that have given up 23 pts total in their other games.
