I watched today. I thought it was pretty well done. The only trailer I'd seen showed it to be just a post-apocalyptic action movie, so I wasn't expecting too much. There was a lot more to it than that, and it had a pretty cool ending as well. And both Denzel Washington & Gary Oldman were awesome in it. I give it a :up:

WOW. GREAT movie. Ben Affleck can actually direct..that is 2 for 2 so far with him.

This is a helluva crime drama. There are a couple of oscar nom worthy performances in this film.

watched prince of persia last night and it was almost a great movie.they did a good job on special effects and bringing some of the cool weapons such as the cat of 9 tails into the film.my biggest issue was with the main character..he was not persian looking at all..dirty? yes,white ass american? yes.i realize there may not be a ton of good persian actors running around but atleast give this guy thats suppossed to be living in the dessert a tan.acting wise he did a fine job but looks can be everything to me.lacked a believability for me to really get into.

This guy is the next great star of the new crop of actors. Saw him on Bill Maher's show and the guy has it all...dark good looks, well-spoken and quick, intelligent. Reminds me in more ways than one of a young Alec Baldwin.

Watched "Deaths of Ian Stone"-one comment read "kinda like Groundhog's Day on acid". That about sums it up.

Yes! I just found out they're making "Abominable 2". Think "Cabin Fever" with Sasquatch.

saw STOP-LOSS a movie about a soldier out of Iraq who gets stoplossed to go for another tour of duty. Honestly, one of the best movies i've ever seen about the military. Highly recommend it

Watched "Peaceful Warrior"-2007. Very intriguing movie inspired by a true story. This movie is truly a sports movie and goes deeper than any of them in explaining the correlation between consciousness and performance. Transcends the typical sports movie genre. About a gifted gymnast who is trying to make the Olympic squad from Cal university. Finds a guru/trainer of sorts in Nick Nolte (very good performance) and undergoes non traditional training to say the least. Very compelling, very trippy, kind of the Donnie Darko of sports films. I think this movie flew under the radar but will live on as a cult classic. I highly recommend it.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. Awesome movie.

Saw that last night... Took my wife on a double-date with my brother and his wife... My brother is a huge Patriots' fan.

The moral of the story, in my mind:

New England sucks, Miami rules. :up:

Watched Oldboy. Man those Asian filmmakers can sure be sadistic and twisted but at the same time very shallow and unforgiving. They love things that are epic and grand in scope and this movie is a prime example. Definitely worth the watch as a horror mind fuc*. Some really great scenes and stimulating eastern concepts of moviemaking and culture albeit sadistic.

Then I watched "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead". All this did was give me a better understanding of the NY Times movie reviews. They made this movie a critics choice and although it's emotionally powerful with good performances from Ethan Hawke and Phillip Seymour-Hoffman this was as depressing as Hamlet. Seriously, The NY Times panned "Old Boy" stating:

In this world, aesthetic and moral judgments - much less philosophical and political inquiries - are rejected in favor of a vague taxonomy of cool that principally involves ever more florid spectacles of violence.

Yet, "Before the devil knows you're dead" was hailed a critics choice (albeit different authors). Well, I found this comment to be most spot on in my opinion:

Exasperating and Depressing
Marvelous, over-the-top acting by everyone, but what a hare-brained plot, and how lacking in any redeeming feature. Somehow I think movies must have something to say. Stringing together a wholly implausible set of catastrophic events without ever even giving us a glimpse of a moral lesson (or even question) made for two hours of increasing angst and a pervasive sense of hopelessness in the viewer. Worse still, these were not dregs of society people, products of poverty or discrimination, but members of the solidly middle white middle-class. How could the offspring of two seemingly ordinary people become so hideously deformed? There is no explanation except the obligatory "I could have been a better father," followed by "I could have been a better son." This was an exasperating movie; terribly depressing, and ultimately a story that wasted the talents of great actors and a great director.

Saw The Town and have no idea why it got the great reviews it did.

Terrible writing and story, imo. They took Heat, dumbed it down, and set it in Boston.

I have seen recently
old boy - 5/5 good revenge flick, nice little twists and turns, somewhat predictable but not enough to make it not worth watching.Although I had a sneaking suspicion I can't say I predicted it if that makes sense.
machinist - 5/5 another good film. Wished I hadn't waited so long to watch it. I really though all around it had the right mood, acting, and story line. I ruined it for myself but it was still very good nonetheless. I will say the music pissed me off though.
The Trial of Henry Kissinger - 4/5 I get the feeling this was a bit swayed into the kissinger was a monster camp and would have liked a bit more neutrality. Having said that I think henry kissinger was a monster, so I can't say it was wrong. A good documentary, drags a bit, but not too much. Worth a watch for any history buff and even those who think they know.

Holy Crap! Just saw "Frozen"-2010

Let's just say I truly understand what it means to feed the wolf...The movie was meh.

The funny thing about this movie is that there were three of them and the wolves let the last one go (a girl, of course). So apparently wolves don't give a sh!t after you've fed them twice. I predict we go 10-6 based on this movie.

Saw The Town and Iron Man 2 the past 2 nights. Enjoyed both.

i saw that a couple of weeks ago and ya that was a interesting scene or scenes :lol: i thought it was pretty good.

saw the imaginarium of dr parnassas. great movie if you're a fan of terry gilliam. just another fantastic creative journey. heath ledgers last movie. tom waits, the midget from austin powers, johnny depp for a bit appearance. great cast, great story

saw a movie called manito. An independent film, very independent. Not to bad of a movie, drags a bit but, moves quickly midway through and becomes pretty interesting and depressing. I give it a 4/5

Saw it in FL over the weekend. I enjoyed it too. I've always liked Affleck and never understood why some had such ill will towards him.
