Thanks, Dupree. My wife works all weekend, so were going to go see it 1030 Monday morning. I'm now on social media blackout, after having the ending of Infidelity war spoiled on Instagram last year.

I just saw "Hereditary" this week. Alone. With headphones. Questionable life choice.

But yeah, it's now my all-time favorite horror movie. An absolute classic that deserves to be right up there with "The Exorcist" and "Rosemary's Baby."

Just watched Spider Man- Into the Spider Verse.

Spectacular. Reference quality 4k and an amazing movie. Watched the 4K Blu Ray on my OLED 65 and I'm still in awe. Highly, highly recommend this. I also recommend that if you watch movies at home you should look in to an LG or Sony OLED. The picture quality destroys everything else and I'm afraid it's not even close.

I liked Captain Marvel, but didn't love it. There was a big battle at the end that left me disappointed. I didn't feel the opponents were developed enough for me to think they were tough or insurmountable for the hero. There was an emotional element to that battle, but I only believed part of it. The part you see in the trailers where she keeps getting up, that was good. But the other physical opponent I didn't buy. I also didn't care for the cat, which is something I keep hearing brought up as a great part of the movie. Maybe I'm just more of a dog person. In the end there were only a couple of scenes I liked. I'll probably never re-watch it.

The recent movie I loved was Alita: Battle Angel. It wasn't perfect. It was one of those that felt like they were just trying to start a franchise. But I loved the protagonist. I thought there were several excellent performances. The movie was exciting and the special effects were incredible. I'm looking forward to seeing it again.

The lack of character development for everyone other than Talos and Fury, was the main issue with this movie. The story was too big for one movie, it should have been a 2 parter.

I feel like we didn't get to know her at all. It feels like the only change in her character was when...

...the inhibitor chip came off and her powers weren't being governed.

I want to know more about her, but in an origin story we're meant to see the character grow and I didn't see that.

I don't doubt it. I've always said that the MCU does not get enough credit for what they've done with story telling. I mean if you really pay attention to Iron Man and Captain America's arcs from their origin movies till now....it is effing breathtaking how those two have grown and literally swapped ideologies and still always remain on opposite ends of the hero line.

Just a brief synopsis of some of what I mean:
    - Cap goes from having nothing and wanting to be a hero to struggling with fame all while going from towing the government line to being callous about authority.
    - Iron Man goes from having everything and not wanting to be a hero to struggling with his heroic anonymity all while going from being callous about authority to towing the government line.

And all that happens while you don't really notice it while its is happening and they are still true to who they are as characters. That level of complexity is unheard of.

...which is why I was disappointed with Captaion marvel's lack of development in her origin. I feel like she was exactly the same person in the beginning and end of the movie and wanted there to be some growth to power future performances like with Captain America and Iron Man.

Well, remember: For much of the movie, she's too busy finding out who she is to do much "growing."

No i get it, I just think this 1 movie should have been 2. It would have allowed for the story to be told in full. I understood the choices they made based on the constraints they had, I just wish they didn't have the constraints at all. It felt like a cliff notes version of the story they wanted to tell.

I agree with you, and not to spoil things for people, but there is talk that her second stand alone movie will pick up following the events of the first one, rather than taking place in the current time period. So, it could turn out that it truly is part one and part two of her origin story.

Hopefully, but the Part 1 should still have been broken up and fleshed out more, IMO.

As a feminist, I would have been more happy if it was more rah-rah about feminism actually. I was surprised it was as toned down as it was.

My wife liked the movie about as much as I did. Now, she's seen every MCU movie, and enjoys action and sci fi, so it's already part of her genre. But she has always, always enjoyed "chicks kicking ***", as she puts it.

She liked that she was independent, and that Sam Jackson's Nick Fury (known bad***) was more the support character, as a woman would often be in a male driven action movie.

    Really? That one line?

Ok. I don't see how one line that isn;t really all that feminist makes the whole movie rah-rah feminism, but everyone has opinions I guess.

The original millennium series was great. The remakes are ok imo. I didn't think spiders web was bad. But it wasn't great either. Ok for a one time watch. For my money, the Scandanavian countries make the best thrillers right now.

Maybe because men and women focus on different things? I agree with your take that the feminism seemed very toned down.

The one scene that really stuck out to me was the "smile" guy with the motorcycle. The rest seemed like nice empowerment/girl power themes, but not the overtly "ugh sjw garbage" some people were claiming it would be.

Do agree that overall it was ... not an upper echelon Marvel movie. It felt almost rushed, like they needed to pack in way too much to get Carol onscreen in time for Endgame without her being a total enigma to the audience.

Zoom kind of hit the nail for me - her "growth" exists, but more as her remembering herself and then coupling that to her powers and then unlocking it.

The ending of the movie certainly hints at the next move for her, though the timeline of it might be off.

I finally got around to watching Aquaman.

I was disappointed. The cinematography could have been much better, IMO. It was too "cartoony". The writing and acting were corny. Overall it was boring.
