Harry Potter/Deathly Hallows Part I was great, leaves you wanting the end to start right away, which is in 8 months though. But I'm glad they split it up into 2 movies so they could get more, instead of cramming it into one, or making one long 4 hour movie.

There's always been a new book/movie to come since 1997, it's going to be weird when the Part II is released and there isn't anything left, at least not for a while.

Bolt (in 3D) - Pretty cool movie. I'm surprised it's not as heralded as Up is. I found it to be just as good.

The Protector - Awesome martial arts/action movie. Has one of the most amazing action shots/sequences in the back of a restaurant (continuous shot).

See I thought the exact opposite. However, I have not read the books, so that may play a large part in it. But for me many sections just seemed to drag on and I thought half the movie could have been cut without losing to much. I guess I was expecting more action and adventure rather than Harry and Hermione out in the woods trying to figure out if they liked each other.

Wasn't bad movie, but imo not one of the better HP movies to date. Perhaps if you read the books you might get a bit more enjoyment out of it, which likely is more people than haven't read them at this point to be fair.

I watched Deathly Hallows. I thought the first hour was great and then it dragged a bit before picking up at the end. I thought that part dragged in the book as well. I do think it was necessary information, but the pacing was off for a movie. They probably could have executed that part better. I do think they made a good choice for the stopping point, but for some reason the ending fell a bit flat compared to that section in the book. I don't know if I was just tired at that point, but it lacked the emotional impact that Rowling was able to create.

I agree with that, especially the ending. I think a big problem is that Doby may have been a more significant character in the book, but in the movies he was never really fleshed out. It felt like an extra (as in a minor actor) dying, not an important character or someone that Harry really cared about. Made it feel kind of forced and corny. It does set up the last movie though, you get the feeling that Harry wants to kick some ***.

It's important for other reasons. Since Harry showed how much he cared for a non-wizard it helps him get some help from a non-wizard. (I hope and don't think that's giving away much for those who don't know the story).

Since you didn't read the book, what was your impression of them wearing the locket? Did you get that it was supposed to be this huge burden to the wearer? I'm asking b/c while they mentioned it, I wasn't sure the movie got that across that well. It almost seemed like they could just as well have been arguing so much b/c of the situation and the other stresses they were under.

    Ok, last few flights....caught these:

The Joneses - was hoping for so much more
Grown Ups - had very few moments but kept my attention
The Sorceror's Apprentice - Enjoyed the Mickey Cartoon so much more
Up - lots of downer themes but solid entertainment
Percy Jackson - Actually enjoyed it but several better in this genre exist

Skyline-certainly enjoyable from the sci fi aspect...The character storylines, meh.

Unstoppable-very predictable and cheesy, but Denzel and Chris Pine more than make up for it.

The Human Centipede-Just facing my fears in moviegoing, but really not worth it. The concept is great, but it kinda falls short of what you expect it could be.

Taken-Cheesy premise, but a lot better than I expected. Very dark and violent, but smartly written and acted.

The wife read the books and she laid it out awhile ago, so no huge spoilers, no worries. :)

The locket was kind of minor yes. I think they tried to make the point that it was fracturing the group, but half of it also just seemed to much teenage angst. The crappy romantic subplots really detract from the movies imo. I gather from my wife that in the books they are much more fleshed out and important to the story. It just doesn't come across well in the movies though.

Watched [IMG] tonight. It was ok. The
fall from the ski lift was pretty gnarly. And then to get eaten alive by wolves.
What a great ski trip! Kind of like 'Open Water' but done a bit better I thought.

Due date. Annoying comedy can be ..well, annoying. One or two really great lines and scenes, but ultimately not worth it in my opinion. I love Galafanakis, but it just seems like he's really wasting his genius by doing these moneymakers. I hope he's through with them soon and either goes back to standup or takes his own material and makes a movie.

Just watched Inception. Really cant understand why people like this movie. The premise is absurd, the plot line moronic and Decaprio as leading thief, tough guy whatever he is, is equally nausea inducing. About the only reason to watch this is the special effects and if you want to kill two and a half hours

you can get away with a ridiculous premise for a movie if you make the plot interesting and captivitating. Matrix did a great job of that. This movie however failed on so many levels

Out of Sight. George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez.

There's one scene where she's in a Marino jersey.

True story about Mickey Ward and his crazy *** family.

Nothing amazing, but a good movie. I'd be very surprised if Christian Bale doesn't win a few awards for this one.

That was the point. It's about survival, not a backstory of the characters involved. It did have an excellent twist however.

I reluctantly saw the facebook movie because of all the critical acclaim it got. At first I thought I would never see it because it seemed like a fad movie but I'm very happy to say that the dialogue was so smart that it held my attention from the very beginning. I really liked the scene where the Winkleboss' had the meeting with the Dean of Harvard.

    Tron Legacy.

Fan of the original and I liked this one. Although I thought it would have been smarter to do a true updated reboot instead of a sequel. People are hating on this movie as a "cool" thing to do ...not sure why. It's no where near as bad as they say. It isn't a great film but it's a fun ride.

Saw "The Book of Eli." Eked in at 3 stars because of a nice little mini twist at the end. Arresting visuals, some nice fight scenes, but a slow pace just about killed it.

Watched this last night. I watched it the first time at 11 years old, the first R rated movie I ever saw. A classic, imo. Directed by the late Bob Clark, who co-wrote and directed "A Christmas Story."

Book of Eli - Really liked it, and had no problem with pacing. Great visuals and sound quality too.

The Other Guys - I really liked it. Not sure what to compare it to, lot of stuff I found to be funny because of how awkward or dumb it was. Certainly not a movie I would expect everyone to like.
