Just rented it on Blu-Ray. Guillermo Del Toro has churned out another fine piece of work. This guy is quickly becoming one of my favorite filmmakers. (Subtitles didnt make this movie any less scary as hell btw) Thoughts? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464141/trailers-trailer-vi162660633
I've always liked guillermo del toro. He seems to blend fantasy and horror well. I am looking forward to seeing what he does in hell boy 2.
Lucky bastard, you dont even need to read the subtitles in his films Im also anxious to see what he does with the 2nd Hellboy. Should be some good stuff if the the studio doesnt hack it into mainstream crap after he's done with it.
Naw he's from spain, that means I won't understand his spanish. I really enjoyed the first hellboy. I enjoy the conflict that is built between hellboy and himself, and it looks like this one will carry much of that same theme. Should be good I think.
The guy def knows how to end a movie. 'Pans Labryinth' was one of the greatest endings I'd seen in some time (not to mention best movie Id seen in awhile). You hit it on the head with the fantasy/horror mixing. I love how this film came full circle.
This wasn't directed by Guillermo, but it was produced by him. Just thought I'd point that out for those putting praise in the wrong spot. Not knocking Guillermo at all because he's in my top 10, but just wanted the real director to get the praise. Juan Antonio Bayona is the director.
yup... still quite impressive in terms of the eye that Del Toro has for new talent and for goood story but yeah this movie was not directed by him. I heard that he is trying to get a US remake done because he really believesin the story and feels it unfair that people did not watch it enough.
Those two movies are as far apart as you can imagine. The Strangers was unimaginative crap, the Orphanage was outstanding.
