Sgt. Brent Raban wore a badge and carried a gun issued by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, but he didn't think of himself as a crime fighter.
Instead, the seven-year sheriff's office veteran considered himself a punisher on the mean streets of Belle Glade, and he bragged in Internet postings about his prowess in battering the people he arrested, according to an internal investigation released Monday.
Together with two subordinates, Deputies Gregory Lynch and Michael Woodside, Raban would work the streets of the county's western communities, sometimes sporting a camouflage skullcap emblazoned with the word "PUNISHMENT," the investigation determined.
Yikes! This guy sounds like his balls are bigger than his brain. I'm adding him as a friend for Mafia Wars.

BELLE GLADE — If there was any place where the Punisher could thrive in Palm Beach County, it was here, in the thick of drug gangs and sugar cane, former and future football stars, street toughs and blue-collar families living behind barred windows in pastel homes.
Belle Glade's most dilapidated stretches are almost otherworldly. Crumbling apartment buildings sit boarded by plywood or nothing at all. Roosters share sidewalk space with scores of idle men. Teens resent cops and greet passing cars with hands raised like pistols.
Many of the sheriff's deputies assigned to patrol this city did not want to be here. Neither did Sgt. Brent Raban.
Before he started walking Belle Glade's streets with his "PUNISHMENT" skullcap, before the droves of phoned complaints and the excessive-force investigations, before his boasts of beatings on Facebook and the people who called him the Punisher, Raban was a man with a grudge.
