Now that the preseason is over and our roster is pretty much set. How do you guys feel about the Dolphins going into the 2024 season? Are you confident that we will make the playoffs? Are you worried about the other line? What is your biggest fear and your biggest hope for this team in 2024. My biggest fear is that we will have issues across our own line once again, resulting into it being injured and out for 2 to 3 games at a time maybe twice this season if that happens I am not confident at all with our back up quarterbacks being able to win us games especially early in the season winners. We’re on the road a lot. My biggest hope for the season is that the defense that we’ve seen in preseason matures and is able to shut down the opposing offenses, so that we can stay in games. I still think we’re a work in progress and I’m really worried that we may lose two or three games right off the bat on the road and if we get an injury for tour or some significant key positions early on that our season might be over before we hit week seven after this preseason what are you guys thoughts about our team going into this season? I’m not trying to be a Debbie downer when I say I believe we’re gonna be at 10 and 7 team and miss the playoffs
Biggest fear is what we have seen in the preseason is real. 8-9 wins at best. I realize no gameplan on defense, but they still look like absolute crap. Basic defense dominated out offense in practice, but cannot do the same in preseason games. Something is amiss for sure.
The shortened preseason means no units play meaningful snaps together until September, so the exhibition games are little more than extended tryouts for guys on the fringes of the roster. If I were king of the world, the NFL would go back to the 4/16 game season. Oh, and Thursday games would be abolished.
Biggest fear is that Fangio's scheme doesn't take root and our defense isn't significantly better than it was last season. The D is going to be on the field often and teams are likely going to attack us because they're either going to be playing from behind or attempting to outscore us. We brought a few players on board that have experience with his system but he said that he came up with new concepts during his year off. We don't know if that's going to work with our players although I think he's good enough to adjust if it doesn't. Biggest hope is that we have Tua for 17 games and that McDaniel is capable of squeezing 125 yards per game out of our run game. Even if Tua's advanced metrics meet or exceed last season's, balance is the key to sustainable success. We can make the playoffs with a Marino-esque performance from Tua but like it was with Marino, good teams are going to take away what you do best in the tournament. It's best for us to be able to keep defenses honest by gaining yards on the ground and through the passing game.
I love McDaniel, but some of this play calling in pre season has left me concerned. Hate pitches and throws 5 yards behind line of scrimmage. That toss right to short side of field with 3 blockers is disaster.
I take nothing from exhibition games. Preseason is when you see what's going to work. I'll be concerned if he tries those plays during the regular season. Not just that, but Kyle Shanahan is notorious for running a play to see what a defense does before showing the exact same look before a completely different play later. If McDaniel has that knack, showing that look now could bait future defenses into selling out for a different outcome.
My biggest worry is that Tua can't get it done behind yet another crappy offensive line. There's a fear that the league will figure out McDaniels and his schemes and we'll be in trouble. I think this all falls on Tua and if he can stay healthy. Injuries are a huge worry, and I truly, honestly HOPE to God that we never see Mike White in the game other than mop.up duty in a blowout.
Yeah, winning a playoff game really would be great. Fear - What if Howard’s nagging injuries and bad scheme complaints were simply just excuses. Maybe he is washed. If that is the case, it could be bombs away against our secondary again this year.
I don't think Howard is washed up, but I do wonder about lining up 12 yards off the line of scrimmage and anyone being able to be successful with that.
Biggest fear: That our season is derailed by injuries again and that we're to much of a finesse team. Biggest hope: That Tua stays healthy and proves he's a franchise and TOP 5 QB.
I heard today in preseason the Dolphins averaged like 50 more running yards per game in the pre season then other teams.
Biggest hope: Everything clicks and we go undefeated and win the super bowl Biggest fear: Everything implodes and we go the season winless and we're back to square 1.
Let’s see if they keep that up I’ll doubt it. I think our offense will be more balanced, but you want the ball in the hands of Waddle and Hill. Hope we‘ll stay injury free mostly, then this should be a really good season.
Hope Miami wins the division and a playoff game and more.Afraid of the running game not getting it done.
My biggest worry is always injuries. You could say that about any team in any year, but its more of a pressing issue with this group. Obviously Tua had his issues last season, Armstead has a notable history, both Mostert and Wilson at RB have only had one full healthy season in their careers, and now Ramsey is on the shelf for about half the season already. Its a big deal, and we need to come out on the right side of it if we're going to live up to the potential. After that, on a related note, I'm very worried about the run game. After swinging and missing at improving the position all offseason, we now go into the year with a group mostly made up of the same guys who were #31 in the league a year ago, and have long issues with staying on the field. I think that if we end up with a lot more games that feature a well below average output, the offense will fail to take any steps forward, and we'll be left with the same big plays or nothing pass game clawing our way through games like last season.
Hopefully, Brooks can be a “found gem” for the running game. His size and physicality might keep him from the injured list, where Mostert and Wilson always spend some time.
You feel completely great that a couple of guys who never stayed healthy until last season will be fine with a much heavier workload?
