Marino. It was obvious though. The greatest football player of all time without a ring has to be on top of all these lists.

Ted Williams being at 4 on that list is blasphemous. I know not everyone here loves baseball like myself but the guy is arguably one of the top 3 baseball players ever, maybe the best if he hadnt missed 4 years serving his country in the prime of his career. He very easily could have had a Mays-esque homer total or better along with an outstanding average. He should be 1A to Marino with Malone 3rd though Malone really goes hand in hand with Stockton.

"but Marino never brought them back to the Championship round"

Should've said "Miami's defense never allowed Marino back into the Superbowl".

I long for the day when someone like Bill James comes around for football. There are some sites out there that do some good work with stats: Football Outsiders and Pro-Football-Reference blog being my two favorite. We need someone who isn't a Fins fan to help do away with this direct correlation most people make between QBs and wins/losses. Maybe then Marino won't be blamed for team failures.

That's always how it is, unfortunately. Quarterback gets all the credit and all the blame. As a person who defended quite a few QB's myself (two in particular), it pisses me off a bit when someone acts like being the QB automatically makes that player responsible for everything that happens in the game.

i think Barry Sanders should be 2nd! Actually i know this is blasphemous since i'm in a dolphins forum, but i think Barry Sanders should be 1st and Marino 2nd. I don't want to take anything away from Marino but Barry Sanders made my jaw drop every play! He was amazing.

    Its the dumbest question/argument ever.

Your judging a single person on a team accomplishment. In reverse its like saying the 2001-2008 dolphins sucked because their qb had a bad qb rating, and that is why they weren't good.

Judge the 1983-2000 Dolphins for not winning a superbowl, not dan marino.

Actually, not to be a stickler bro, but its '83 to '99.

The '00 season was manned by JF due to Wanny not letting Dan suit up just one more year :tantrum::tantrum:
